Popular policies continue in Korea from Voice of Korea website

The Democratic People's Republic of Korea invariably enforces policies for promoting the well-being of the working masses.
Thanks to the popular policies of the Workers' Party of Korea and the
government of the Republic, the agricultural tax in kind was abolished
between 1964 and 1966.
The decision on abolishing the tax system was adopted at the 8th Plenary Meeting of the 5th Central Committee
of the WPK in February 1974 and the law "On Completely Abolishing Tax
System" proclaimed at the 3rd Session of the 5th Supreme People's
Assembly on March 21, 1974.
The law was effectuated from April 1, 1974.
Thanks to the party and state policy, the universal free compulsory
education system, the universal free medical care system, the social
insurance programs, the recuperation and relaxation systems, the
disabled soldiers premium system and other popular policies are enforced
invariably.
Baby homes, orphanages, orphans' primary and middle
schools, old people's homes and recuperation centres were wonderfully
built under the benefits of the socialist system and the state looks
after the helpless old persons and children with full responsibility.
The Okryu Children's Hospital, the Sci-Tech Complex, the Rungna
People's Pleasure Ground, Ryomyong Street and other modern and
comprehensive public service establishments and dwelling houses have
been built in different parts of the country and the people are actually
enjoying the popular policies of the party and state.
