Speech on the 100th anniversary of the birth of Madame KIM JONG SUK by Raluca M member Merseyside and north west KFA

The 24th of December marks the 100th anniversary of the birth of a woman who passed into history as an example of the emancipation of women in Korea, the struggle for independence and socialism. Serving not only as an example in Korea, but being the example for all women around the world.
Kim Jong Suk was born on December 24th, 1917, in a very poor family in the province of North Hamgyong.
From a young age she began to realize the injustices and cruelty of Japanese imperialism in her occupied homeland.
Her father who was a fighter dedicated to the independence movement against Japanese imperialism died in 1929, her mother was killed in 1932 by the Japanese, she helped the independence movement and formed her children as great patriots and revolutionaries that someday will lead the Korean people to Independence.
Unfortunately, her older brother Kim Ki Jun, an expert in clandestine activities, was killed in 1934 while working to materialize the revolutionary line of the young leader Kim Il Sung.
Her younger brother Kim Ki Song, a member of the Children's Union, was a great revolutionary fighter who, despite his youth, died fighting for the emancipation of his homeland.
The example and suffering of her family was what led Kim Jong Suk to become a great revolutionary and since youth she decided to fight against the inequalities that engenders a society based on exploitation.
For several years she leade the Korean Children's Organization created by President Kim Il Sung, which fought tirelessly for the revolution and hope of the Korean people and remained true to the ideas of President Kim Il Sung in the struggle for unity of the popular masses, independence and Juche based socialism.

On September 18th, 1935, she joined the People's Revolutionary Army of Korea in the guerrilla zone of Chechangzi.Since then her comrades began to know her as the "Anti-Japanese heroine" and "General of Mont Paektu"
Her strength and determination, together with her unbounded loyalty, guaranteed the personal safety of Kim Il Sung and opened the path of the Korean revolution that vigorously advanced towards victory.
In February  of 1942, Kim Jong Suk gives birth in the secret camp of Mount Paektu to the future leader Kim Jong Il who would be the Great Leader of the Korean people.
She studied day by day, thinking about the Liberation of the Homeland, while fulfilling her revolutionary duties and raising her son, in very difficult conditions due to the military occupation of Japanese imperialism, the Korean people barely survived .
Thus we see how this great woman, contributed enormously to anticipate the great event of the Liberation of the Homeland, to march forward in all aspects both military and political, as well as in the general organization of life in the camp, we see in the history of the Anti-Japanese War are imbued the deeds that Kim Jong Suk performed to protect and loyally defend Kim Il Sung physically and also politically and ideologically.
She felt an infinite love for her People who had lived exploited and deprived of their rights. She was fighting to see her people as the owners of their destiny.
Because of her great virtues as a human and revolutionary, the Korean people will remember her eternally and will transmit to future generations her example and heroic life.
Unfortunately, Kim Jong Suk only lived 4 years in a country liberated from imperialism. Dying Young on September 22th, 1949. Her values, loyalty and struggle in favor of the independence and socialism will never be forgotten.
Without her, it is very possible that the revolution would never have triumphed.
Women around the world admire her fighting and revolutionary example, which helped the Korean revolution to succeed under the direction of comrade Kim Il Sung, helping him in all the revolutionary work with extraordinary insight, courage and leadership skills.
A fact of great importance for women, is that Kim Jong Suk materialized the idea and guidance of Kim Il Sung regarding the organization of the women's global movement and all matters related to Korean women leading to create an increasingly important role. Fighting for an equal society, against the backward idea of women as a simple object at the service of men.
Kim Jong Suk, had the vision that the Korean women's organization would become part of the International Federation of Women Democratic FDIM made it possible for Korean women to fight internationally together with other women's organizations around the world, taking their experiences as their activities accumulated and carried out for their dedicated work of Korean women to women around the world, demonstrating that is possible to build a new society for the human being.
