Epitome of Internationalist Obligation

It was six years ago in November, 2016. Upon hearing the news of sudden demise of Comrade Fidel Castro Ruz, historical leader of the Cuban revolution, respected Comrade Kim Jong Un displayed the epitome of internationalist obligation.

Comrade Fidel Castro Ruz, the prominent statesman who made distinguished contributions to the Cuban revolution and to the accomplishment of the cause of independence against imperialism, passed away to our deep regret on November 25, 2016 at the age of ninety.

He always remembered his visit to our country in March 1986, during which he was met by President Kim Il Sung and General Kim Jong Il. Appreciative of our active support to the Cuban revolution, he made a great contribution to the strengthening of the friendly relations between the two countries.

On the occasion of the demise of Comrade Fidel Castro Ruz who had contributed to the laying of solid foundation for the bilateral friendly ties, Comrade Kim Jong Un personally sent a message of condolence and a wreath and saw to it that Party and government delegation be promptly dispatched to Cuba to convey the Korean people’s warm condolence to the Cuban people.

He also visited in person the Cuban Embassy in our country to share the sorrow of having lost Comrade Fidel Castro Ruz with Cuban comrades and made the meaningful entry in the condolence book as follows: “Though the outstanding leader passed away, his name and feats will always be remembered by all of us. We feel pain of the loss of the great Comrade, the great comrade-in-arms. Kim Jong Un”.

Respected Comrade Kim Jong Un said that although Comrade Fidel Castro Ruz passed away, his great feats will shine forever in the hearts of the peoples of our two countries as well as in the minds of the progressive humankind.

He also expressed his conviction that the revolutionary Cuban people will brave the pain of having lost their prominent leader, and will surely achieve victory in building a thriving, ideal society for people and in the cause of socialism, true to his lifetime intention.

Today the Cuban people, loyal to the pledge made before the bier of Comrade Fidel Castro Ruz and true to his behests, are safeguarding the precious gains achieved by the preceding generations of revolution, and are invariably carrying forward the cause of socialism, achieving many successes during the course.

At the recent 22nd International Meeting of Communist Parties and Workers’ Parties held in Havana, Comrade Miguel Mario Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic of Cuba affirmed that he will unite the revolutionary forces and educate the new generations with socialist ideology, emphasizing that only socialism will guarantee the future.

We extend full support to and solidarity with the Cuban people’s struggle for safeguarding the sovereignty of the country and the revolutionary gains and for victorious advance of the cause of socialism, and will continue to make every effort to strengthen and develop the strategic and comradely relations of friendship and cooperation between our two countries.
