Contrasting Realities Mirrored in Housing Problem

 2022.3.16.

Today, a new myth of construction is being created in our country in line with the noble idea of our Party and state to provide our people with much more stable and civilized living conditions at an early date.

Recently, the residential district of terraced apartment buildings on the bank of the River Pothong, where ordinary people will live, and 10,000 apartments standing with imposing and fascinating looks in Songsin and Songhwa areas are awaiting those who would to move into them.

Samjiyon City has changed its appearance completely as an example of civilized mountainous city, and mine villages in the Komdok area are being transformed into the mining city unparalleled in the world, first-ever city built in the gorge, to the envy of all people.

Under the benefits of the Party and state, our people are enjoying happy lives in their own houses free of charge, and they are creating miracles and innovations every day, picturing the future of country that will be more beautiful.

However, in the U.S. across the ocean, many people live in apprehension and anxiety day after day due to the continued rise in prices of real property and house lease.

According to the recent report made public by the real estate agencies in the U.S., a monthly rental cost for a house with two rooms has reached US$ 1,780 on average, which is 20% increase compared to the same period in 2020.

At present, if a house with one room is to be on lease in New York City, it is said that US$ 3,825 should be paid monthly on average, and in San Francisco, Boston, San Jose and Miami, it is more than US$ 3,000.

This is really beyond one’s means if we consider that the average wage for the lowest paid worker is US$ 8 per hour in the U.S.

Economic experts at Harvard University forecasted that housing problem will as ever get serious. That is because many young people rent the houses again after they had returned to their parents driven by worsening pandemic crisis last year, and the price of overall real property soared by approx. 17%.

Like this, most of the working people live in abject poverty due to the inexorable economic recession. But, contrary to this, the well-to-do, which account for less than 1% of the population, are giving themselves up to trading with real property, squandering tremendous wealth.

In 2020, a luxury house with floor space of 1,400㎡ was traded at the price of US$ 120 million in Connecticut, the most expensive house dealing ever recorded in history. This fact shows as it is the reality of the American society where the rich get ever richer and the poor get ever poorer.

Housing problem haunts the people every day in the U.S. But the word of house lease is all strange to the DPRK people. Such contrasting two realities substantiate the fact that man-centered socialism of our style is a true paradise for people.
