KCNA Commentary Calls for Opening Broad Avenue to National Prosperity

Pyongyang, January 7 (KCNA) -- Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un in his New Year Address called upon the whole nation to usher in a heyday of peace, prosperity and reunification of the Korean peninsula by thoroughly implementing the historic north-south declarations.
It is the most important in opening a broad avenue to national prosperity by the concerted efforts of all Koreans to thoroughly implement the historic north-south declarations.
The Panmunjom Declaration and the September Pyongyang Joint Declaration are the reunification programmes common to the whole nation.
Clarified in those declarations are overall matters for achieving the radical development in the inter-Korean relations, durable peace on the Korean peninsula and national prosperity.
The validity and vitality of the declarations in which the north and the south solemnly promised to decide the destiny of the Korean nation by themselves have been clearly proved as the days go by.
Sportspersons of the north and the south jointly took part in international games to display the great image of the united nation in perfect accord and even artistes of the north and the south sang in concert the strong aspiration and desire of the whole nation for reunification in Pyongyang and Seoul amid the great interest at home and abroad.
Cooperation projects were promoted in various fields including railways, road, forestry and public health despite difficulties and obstructions and the north-south joint liaison office was opened and the reunion of separated families and relatives from the north and the south took place.
Witnessing dramatic changes unprecedented in the history of over 70 years-long national division, all Koreans were instilled with the absolute truth that the rosy future of the nation lies in pooling minds and efforts by our nation itself.
When the north and the south respect and implement with sincerity the historic declarations, they can make greater strides in the struggle for the development of inter-Korean relations, peace and prosperity and national reunification.
The outsiders still disturb the reconciliation, unity and reunification of the Korean nation with an aim to subordinate inter-Korean relations to their tastes and interests.
They even called for what they called the theory of speed control, claiming that the inter-Korean relations which just began developing have gone far away.
The present success in the development of the north-south relations that entered a new stage is by no means the result achieved by someone's approval or help.
The north and the south should resolutely frustrate all sorts of sanctions, pressure, challenges and trials and further accelerate the development of inter-Korean relations in close cooperation with each other by the concerted efforts of all the fellow countrymen in the future, too.
If the north and the south pool their mind and efforts, there is nothing dreadful and impossible for them in the world.
The whole Korean nation should turn out as one in the nationwide advance for implementing the historic north-south declarations with redoubled courage. -0
