Tomorrow ,on the 8th of January it will be the birthday of respected Marshal KIM JONG UN who has led People's Korea for nearly 8 years and has been at the helm of the Korean revolution since 2010. The date is not marked on the calendar of the DPRK nor it is a public holiday , for respected Marshal KIM JONG UN is a modest and humble man . In the DPRK you cannot find one statue of him . Korean people wanted to add his portrait to those of the great leader comrade KIM IL SUNG and the great leader comrade KIM JONG IL but he would not approve such a proposal. Also there is no portrait badge of Marshal KIM JONG UN . Once when he was giving on -the spot guidance , he traveled in an ordinary car not a special limousine. Another time he visited a military unit on an island using a small wooden boat. Marshal KIM JONG UN is the leader of the people and a people's leader.
Applying the people-first principle is the intrinsic demand of our Party, which is struggling for the sake of the masses of the people and conducting its activities by relying on them.
All the work and activities of the Party should be conducted with the masses of the people at the centre. The climate of believing in the strength of the people and depending on them should pervade the whole Party, and the main thrust of Party work should be directed at promoting the people's well-being.
"Let the whole Party make selfless, devoted efforts for the good of the great people!"–this is the fighting slogan our Party should be holding high at present. We should regard it as an iron rule to respect the people, defend their destiny and give the highest and absolute priority to their interests and comfort"
Respected Marshal KIM JONG UN has always been a people-orientated leader right from the start of his leadership . In May 2012 he visited the Mangyondae Fun Fair and angered to see ' weeds grown in between pavement blocks in the compound of the funfair'the Korean Central News Agency reported that , he, with an irritated look, plucked them up one by one. He said in an excited tone that he has never thought that the funfair is under such a bad state and a proverb that the darkest place is under the candlestick fits the funfair. He scolded officials, saying why such things do not come in their sight and querying could the officials of the funfair work like this, had they had the attitude befitting master, affection for their work sites and conscience to serve the people. Plucking up weeds can be done easily with hands as it is different from updating facilities, he added.
Saying that the amusement facilities have been put into operation with the paint scraped off, he noted that the officials and care-takers of the funfair have below-zero spirit of serving the people. This is not just a business issue but an issue concerning ideological viewpoint, he said in a serious tone.
This was widely reported in the media throughout the world . Basically Marshal KIM JONG UN had nailed his colours to the mast as a people-orientated leader and a stern critic of inefficiency .
In May 2015 respected Marshal KIM JONG UN visited the Taedonggang Terrapin Farm (which our delegation had visited in April 2012) , he criticised it for inefficiency saying that ' "Everything goes well, people substantially benefit from the results of the implementation of the party policies and hurrah for the WPK and socialism are heard from the units which consider it as the main line to uphold and glorify the leadership exploits of the great leaders and the party but only sighs of defeatists come from those units which failed to do so and they may get bogged down even if all conditions are provided"
On the 17th of July 2018 Marshal KIM JONG UN visited the Chongjin Bag Factory and pointed out that ' Saying that even though the state has more burdens, it should not give inconvenience to the people,"it is needed to correct the price after listening to the view of inhabitants".This shows a virtually unparalleled concern for the welfare of the people
The second important feature of the leadership style of respected Marshal KIM JONG UN is the emphasis on self-reliance and self-development , indeed in the present era of crazy globalisation , Marshal KIM JONG UN is probably the only leader in the world to stress self-reliance . In his New Year address for 2019 he put forward the militant slogan ' "Let us open a new road of advance for socialist construction under the uplifted banner of self-reliance! This will enable the Korean
people to build a socialist paradise by smashing the sanctions of the hostile forces which have become most intense. At the 7th Congress of the Workers' Party of Korea respected Marshal
KIM JONG UN said ' Worship of big countries and dependence on foreign forces is the road to national ruin; self-development alone is the road to sustaining the dignity of our country and our nation and to paving a broad avenue for the revolution and construction”. Moreover concluding his New Year Address for 2019 Marshal KIM JONG UN said "What we are convinced of once again as we proudly review the past year when we made rapid progress while paving our way by our own efforts with belief in our own strength in the face of harsh economic blockade and sanctions, is the truth that our state is fully capable of dynamically advancing along the road of development of socialism of our own style by dint of our people's great strength and efforts, without any external assistance or any other's help.". This is a declaration of faith in the strength of the Korean people and faith in self-reliance.
Self-reliance makes sense. To give a simple example , everyone knows it saves money to cook a meal at home rather than to go to a restaurant or buy food from a takeaway . Some may baulk at this analogy and say it does not apply to questions of building a state and managing the economy of a whole country , however, surely it is far better to manufacture goods at home rather than rely on expensive imports . Self-reliance is the road to wealth and prosperity whereas dependence leads to decline and ruin.
Respected Marshal KIM JONG UN has lead the Korean people to make great achievements in building up a self-reliant , independent national economy , capable of standing on its own two feet.
A tube train using 100 per cent DPRK resources , technology and resources was made in 2015 along with a light aircraft . Moreover success was made in improving the independent and self-reliant nature of the iron and steel industry , using domestically produced coal rather than imported coal. The DPRK was able to launch 2 artificial satellites , in 2012 and 2016, using DPRK resources and technology , a wonderful achievement ,
Thus respected Marshal KIM JONG UN is a true people's leader with faith in his own people . Congratulations to him on his birthday .
