Pomminryon Calls for Waging Solidarity Movement for Conclusion of Peace Treaty

   Pyongyang, March 28 (KCNA) -- The North, South and Overseas Headquarters of the Pan-national Alliance for Korea's Reunification (Pomminryon) issued the following joint statement Thursday:
    A touch-and-go situation is now prevailing on the Korean Peninsula due to the unwarranted UN "resolutions on sanctions" masterminded by the U.S. and its followers in succession and their reckless north-targeted war exercises.
    As recognized by the public at home and abroad, the north's satellite launch was a legitimate one in compliance with international law on the peaceful use of outer space, and it is a full-fledged right of all the sovereign states to conquer space.
    The north's underground nuclear test was also a legitimate measure for defending the sovereignty of the country and the nation and protecting peace from the U.S. and its allies' persistent moves to isolate and stifle the country and their undisguised nuclear threats.
    It is illogical for the U.S. to assert that it can carry out nuclear tests, launch missiles and pose nuclear threats while the north can not launch satellites for peaceful purposes nor conduct a nuclear test for self-defence.
    The U.S. has even wantonly violated the sovereignty and dignity of an independent state by applying "sanctions" on the DPRK under those pretexts, a blatant challenge to international law.
    This reveals the U.S. gangster-like nature of brandishing nuclear weapons to stifle any country which it considers a stumbling block in realizing its design of holding world hegemony.
    The joint military exercises being under way in the sky and land and seas of south Korea with the involvement of huge nuclear strike means are a dangerous nuclear war rehearsal aimed to exterminate the Korean nation in view of their nature, scale and program.
    The U.S. and the south Korean military warmongers' reckless war provocation moves nullified the Korean Armistice Agreement and rendered the north-south agreements on non-aggression completely defunct, pushing the situation on the Korean Peninsula to the brink of a nuclear war.
    The north, south and overseas headquarters of Pomminryon state as follows reflecting the will of the nation to resolutely foil the reckless war moves of anti-reunification forces at home and abroad, and defend peace:
    The U.S. and south Korean military warmongers should immediately stop reckless north-targeted war exercises that can bring a nuclear holocaust to the nation.
    The U.S. should clearly know that it no longer has the monopoly of nuclear weapons.
    If a war breaks out again on this land by an accidental military conflict under the conditions where both belligerent parties possess nukes, that will lead to a nuclear war incomparable with that fought in the 1950s and the U.S. lying across the ocean can never be safe, either.
    All the Koreans wishing for the bright future of the nation should turn out against the reckless north-targeted nuclear war drills of the U.S. and the south Korean warmongers who seek to devastate the country and inflict a nuclear holocaust on the nation.
    The U.S. and its followers should at once withdraw the unreasonable UN "resolutions on sanctions" against the DPRK.
    The U.S. brigandish act by which it fabricated "resolutions on sanctions" by abusing the UN and provoked a war under that pretext will no longer work on the Korean Peninsula.
    The Korean nation is not such a weak nation as it used to be in the past and it is different from those countries which threw themselves on the mercy of big powers in fear of their nuclear threats.
    The U.S. should clearly face up to the reality and apologize for its farce of tightening "sanctions" by abusing the UN.
    Let all the Koreans at home and abroad more vigorously wage the massive movement for the conclusion of a peace treaty this year marking the 60th anniversary of the Korean Armistice Agreement.
    Pomminryon earnestly appeals to all the Koreans to wipe out aggressors, chieftain of national division and root cause of all misfortunes, sufferings and war, and wage the variety of nationwide solidarity activities for supporting the conclusion of a peace treaty.
