Participants in this joint meeting,
I would like to begin my message sending my sincere greetings for this important online meeting that aims to mark the 79th anniversary of the birth of General Kim Jong Il. These frequent initiatives not only serve as a way to deepen and continue studies on the Korean Revolution, but also to bring our friends and our countries closer to the common cause of independence and socialism.
I believe that everyone here knows the history and trajectory of Comrade Kim Jong Il in his political and military life. There are several glories achieved by the Korean people since the days when he was only a member of the Central Committee and a follower of President Kim Il Sung.
In addition to the glories, we know that the Korean people have also experienced many difficulties in all that time, obviously not because of their own government. Korea's external and internal conditions changed so suddenly in such a short time that the Korean people found themselves in a very difficult situation.
When socialism collapsed in the USSR and Europe and seemed to show signs that it had been completely wiped out, through the actions of traitors and revisionists, the Korean people were cornered by hostile forces and faced a very complex choice: to follow the path of socialism and independence under hardship or opening up to a liberal world and apparently solving its problems.
It is clear that today we have the answer that the Korean people have taken the path. But this was largely due to his faithful and unwavering leadership figured by General Kim Jong Il. Perhaps one day more people around the world will recognize the great political and military personality of Kim Jong Il, who managed in times of crisis to find creative solutions.
In addition to maintaining socialism, military successes in keeping the United States away from the war with the DPRK and keeping the political leadership in line with the interests of the people, we have t great Kim Jong Il as a second father of the great Juche Idea, who developed further the revolutionary ideology of Kim Il Sung in practice.
Today marks a very special date and I am sure that this joint meeting will properly discuss the great achievements of Comrade Kim Jong Il's leadership and the lessons that we can learn ourselves from that experience.
I sincerely wish every success in the debate and personally express my great joy in sharing with people like you the struggle for a new and free world.
