Report of Meeting to Celebrate the Day of the Shining Star organised by BGSJI and UK KFA
The British Group for the Study of the Juche Idea together with the UK Korean Friendship Association , Association for the Study of Songun Politics UK and the UK Preparatory Committee for the Day of the Shining Star held a meeting on the 15th of February in central London at 1400 hours.
It was attended by members of the UK Korean Friendship Association , the British Group for the Study of the Juche Idea and also the Revolutionary Communist Party of Britain (Marxist -Leninist) , the New Communist Party and Labour Party . Andy Brooks general secretary of the New Communist Party sent a short message to the meeting .
Dr Dermot Hudson introduced the meeting stressing the importance of the Day of the Shining Star and of increasing solidarity with People's Korea.
A message from the Korean Friendship Association of the USA was read out which in part said "Kim Jong Il dedicated himself to trust and integrity, to socialism and ideological development, and to the defeat of the imperialist attempts to undermine the rebirth and reconstruction of the world communist movement. being carried on by Respected Supreme Leader Comrade Kim Jong Un."
Greetings to the meeting also came from Ulrich Larsen of KFA Scandinavia , Lucas Rubio of the Brazilian Centre for the Study of Songun Politics and from a KFA member in the north of Ireland.
The contribution of the DPRK Embassy in London was read out . It said (excerpt) "
February 16 is the birthday of Kim Jong Il, eternal Chairman of the National Defence
Commission of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea.
When the day comes round every year, many people of the world recall him with deep
emotion.
Kim Jong Il devoted his whole life for the cause of global peace.
He led the struggle to build a new world free from aggression and war upholding the
banner of anti-imperialist independence."
Dr Dermot Hudson spoke about the great leader comrade KIM JONG IL saying that " The life of comrade Kim Jong Il was associated with the Juche idea and the spirit of self-reliance , the idea of “Let Us Live Our Own Way “ . It can be said that Juche and self-reliance are the secret weapons of the Korean people in their struggle against the sanctions and blockades ....
We join with the Korean people and world progressives in commemorating the great leader generalissimo Kim Jong Il on the 78th anniversary of his birth ."

Michael Chant general secretary of the RCPBML spoke about the injustice of the sanctions against the DPRK stressing the fact the UK is still maintaining the EU sanctions against the DPRK despite leaving the EU ! He said that the sanctions against the DPRK were profoundly undemocratic ..
Dr Dermot Hudson spoke about the historic 5th plenary meeting of the 7th Central Committee of the WPK saying it was a great banner of victory and that "Upholding the banner of self-reliance , of self-sufficiency and of Juche , the Korean people under the leadership of dear respected Marshal KIM JONG UN will build a greater , more powerful socialist country of Juche , a beautiful socialist paradise . The laughter of happy Korean people will deafen the imperialists and drive them to despair ! The DPRK has a great and prosperous future under the banner of self-reliance !"
Shaun Pickford secretary general of the British Group for the Study of the Juche Idea gave a short talk about the Juche film art and gave examples of DPRK films.
Two films detailing the guidance of the great leader comrade KIM JONG IL to socialist construction were shown , also the DPRK documentary "Paektusan Secret Camp " and "Pyongyang Today " was shown .
A message to the dear respected leader Marshal KIM JONG UN was adopted .
An exhibition of DPRK books including the works of President KIM IL SUNG , Chairman
KIM JONG IL and respected Marshal KIM JONG UN as well as books showing the reality of socialism in the DPRK plus art materials from the DPRK was held.
Refreshments were served.
Meeting concluded at 17.05hours
