Blamed by the public

Some days ago, Hwang Gyo-ahn, the ex-representative of the Liberty Korea Party, is being accused by the south Korean people from all walks of life as he spoke that some event was happened in 1980, pointing at the May 18 Gwangju popular resistance at a restaurant in Seoul.
The some event, Hwang recalled, is the May 18 Gwangju popular uprising against Chun Doo-hwan military fascist rule.
Hwang distorted the May 18 Gwangju popular uprising as a “riot” when Chun said at that time.
This year marks the 40th anniversary of May 18 popular uprising. We are shocked by historical awareness of Hwang, the Ruling Democratic Party condemned. Hwang should apologize since he insulted the Gwangju popular uprising and he denied democracy, the Bareun Party stressed.
Hwang has a poor knowledge of the May 18 resistance, he should make a sincere apology to the spirit of the departed and Gwangju residents, it is quite absurd that Hwang, who is unaware of history of south Korean democracy, intends to dabble in politics, the Justice Party claimed.
He should withdraw all his public office and make an apology to the people, civic organizations asserted on Feb. 11.
