73 years since the founding of
the vanguard of the Korean working people- the Workers Party of Korea
On
the 10th of October this year, there will be 73 years from a moment
with a major impact for the Korean people: the founding of the
Workers Party of Korea. In its 70-year existence, the Workers Party
has firmly led the Korean people on the road of socialism and
communism, thus the DPRK becoming an invincible fortress of the
anti-imperialist democratic camp, which all reactionaries fear.
The
Workers Party of Korea has it historical roots in the
Down-With-Imperialism Union, founded by great leader Comrade Kim Il
Sung on October 17, 1926. This Juche-oriented revolutionary
organization had as purpose the liberation of Korea from the yoke of
Japanese imperialism, the building of socialism and communism in
Korea and, further, destroying all imperialists and bringing
communism throughout the world. The Founding Congress of the
Communist Party of North Korea (CPNK), held on October 10, 1945, was
a turning point of the Korean Revolution, because it opened the road
of the democratic, anti-imperialist and anti-feudal revolution and
the also the road of genuine democratic reforms.
With
Comrade Kim Il Sung as its leader, the Communist Party of North Korea
made strenous efforts for the building of a new, democratic, rich
and independent state. Through the creation of the National United
Front, which included the Democratic Party, New People’s Party,
Chondoist Chongu Party, Democratic Youth League, Democratic Women’s
Union of North Korea and the General Federation of Trade Unions of
North Korea, the Communist Party rallied closely around him the
popular masses, with the aim of building a new country.
Between
28th and 30 th of August 1946, there took place the founding Congress
of the Workers Party of North Korea (WPNK), in which the Communist
Party merged with the New People’s Party. The post of general
secretary of the party was given to Comrade Kim Il Sung, the
liberator of the Korean people from the yoke of Japanese imperialism.
1948
is a year full of victories for the Korean people, a lot of important
events taking place then: the anti-imperialist struggle of the people
from Jeju Island, which were guided by the fearless members of the
Workers Party of South Korea, the founding of the Democratic People’s
Republic of Korea on September 9 and the Second Congress of the
Workers Party of North Korea (from 27 to 30 August 1948), where
Comrade Kim Il Sung was elected as a member of the Central Committee.
In
1949, the Workers Party of Korea was created, through the merger of
the Workers Parties of North and South, thus a centralized leadership
was formed. During the Fatherland Liberation War (1950-1953), the
Fourth Plenary Meeting of the Central Committee of Workers Party of
Korea and the Joint Meeting of People’s Committe Chairmen took
place. This two meetings greately improved the ideological unity of
the Party members, rallied firmly as a rock around the general
secretary, Comrade Kim Il Sung. It must also be mentioned that the
Marxist-Leninist standpoint was maintained, at the same time Juche
and Songun being thoroughly implemented. After the war, when the
period of the socialist reconstruction began, the Workers Party
mobilized the Korean people to rebuild their beloved land, and the
5-Year Plans were launched.
After
1956, modern revisionism began to show its ugly face, traitors such
as Khrushchev slinging mud at the revolutionary legacy of Comrade
Stalin (XX Congress of the CPSU) and at the same time shamelessly
promoting peaceful co-existance with the US imperialists. At the 3rd
Congress of the Workers Party of Korea (23-29th of April 1956), great
leader Comrade Kim Il Sung adopted a firm attitude, defending the
revolutionary legacy of Comrade Stalin and stronlgy criticising the
dogmatists and factionalists, who were engrossed in big-power
chauvinism and flunkeysm. Independence was the key word that stood at
the foundations of the Workers Party of Korea.
Proletarian
internationalism is another characteristic which defines the Workers
Party of Korea. Great Leader Comrade Kim Il Sung offered moral and
material support to the peoples of Asia, Africa and Latin America,
who were fighting for their liberation from the yoke of colonialism
and for their freedom and independence. A good example is the
Vietnamese people’s anti-imperialist struggle, Comrade Kim Il Sung
sending military equipment and personnel in order to help the
Vietnamese people, led by Comrade Ho Chi Minh, in their fight against
the US imperialists.
Between
the 1970s and the 1980s, the Workers Party of Korea pushed forward
the construction of socialism and communism in the DPRK under the red
banner of the Juche Idea. The 5th and 6th Congresses of the WPK took
place, which fixed the future tasks of the Party and accelerated the
cause of the Reunification.
Revolutionary
succesion was always an important principle of the WPK, which allowed
the Korean Revolution to steadily advance. Comrade Kim Jong Il, the
son of great leader Comrade Kim Il Sung, was chosen by the Party
members and the Korean people the succesor of Kim Il Sung. Very
important to know ist that Comrade Kim Jong Il proved to be a
reliable Party member, working at the Central Committee since a young
age (1964).
Towards
the end of the 1980s and the beginning of the 90s, socialism
collapsed in Eastern Europe. Seeing this, the imperialist
reactionaries falsely claimed that socialism doesn’t work,
spearheading their attacks on the DPRK, which was holding high the
red flag of the Revolution. After the passing away of the great
leader Comrade Kim Il Sung, which occured on the 8th of July 1994 and
caused grief among the Korean people and also the bad weather
conditions paved the way for the Arduous March. General Kim Jong Il,
general sceretary of the Workers Party of Korea and Chairman of the
National Defence Comission, put a strong emphasis on Songun politics,
saying that military affairs should be given priority, the People’s
Army being a staunch defender of socialism and playing a major role
in the socialist construction. He conducted numerous visits at
military posts, industrial enterprises and in the coutryside, in
order to mobilize the masses for the improvement of the people’s
living standards and in the defence of the socialist cause, for the
implementation of Kimilsungism-Kimjongilism as the sole ideology of
the Workers Party.
General
Kim Jong Il put all his efforts in the struggle for the
reunification, by organzing the inter-Korean summits in 2000 and
2007, which restored the diplomatic relations between the two Koreas,
relations that were very hostile beacuse of the military fascist
dictatorships in the South. Another achivement of the Workers Party,
led by General Kim Jong Il, was the strenghtening of the combat
capacity of the Korean People’s Army, the first nuclear test taking
place in 2006, striking fear into the US imperialists and their south
Korean puppets.
The
decease of Comrade Kim Jong Il in December 2011 caused the grief of
the Korean people, their sadness knowing no limits at the hearing of
the tragic news. Comrade Kim Jong Un, the son of General Kim Jong Il,
was elected by the people as the Supreme Leader of the Party and
State, being appointed as Supreme Commander of the Korean People’s
Army, Chairman of the State Affairs Comission and General Secretary
of the Workers Party of Korea. Under his leadership, the DPRK has
affirmed and cotinues to affirm on the world political stage, the
Workers Party making continous efforts for the realization of global
independence and the reunification of the Korean Peninsula. Under the
wise guidance of the Supreme Leader Comrade Kim Jong Un, socialism
has made dynamic strides, streets like Ryomyong or Mirae being built
in a short span of time, despite the imperialist sanctions. The 7th
Congress of the WPK (May 2016), elected Comrade Kim Jong Un as the
leader of the Party, the Presidium of the Political Bureau being
occupied by experienced revolutionaries such as Kim Yong Nam, Choe
Ryong Hae and Pak Pong Ju.
Respecting
the wish of President Kim Il Sung and General Kim Jong Il regarding
the reunification, Comrade Kim Jong Un dedicates his all for the
cause of reunification. The inter-Korean sumits, held in September
and April this year, lead to the improvment of the bilateral
relations between the 2 countries, the Panmunjom and Pyongyang Joint
Declarations being adopted, which advance the accomplishment of the
historical cause of reunification and national independence, for the
withdrawal of US imperialist troops from the Korean Peninsula.
In
conclusion , we can proudly say that the 73-year long history of the
Workers Paty of Korea is a glorious chapter in the 5000-year history
of the Korean people, a road of defending the Revolution till death,
of anti-imperialist and anti-revisionist fight and of the successfull
building of socialism and communism! Long live the Workers Party of
Korea! Long live Supreme Leader Comrade Kim Jong Un! Long live Juche
and Songun! Long live Marxism-Leninism! Long live the Democratic
People’s Republic of Korea! Forward to victory, comrades!
