Repatriation of Women Citizens of DPRK Is Urgent Pending Issue: KCNA Commentary

Pyongyang, May 29 (KCNA) -- The truth behind the group abduction of women citizens of the DPRK by the puppet conservative forces of south Korea has been disclosed to touch off a flurry of censure from the public at home and abroad.

The south Korean civic organizations and people from all walks of life demand the authorities' official apology, the assurances for the prevention of recurrence of the similar event, immediate send-back of the women employees and disbandment of the Intelligence Service, and the Bar Association for Democratic Society has taken a legal action of referring those involved in the abduction to the prosecution, saying that "it has been fully disclosed that the women employees of the north were abducted by the Park Geun Hye regime".

With the trend for national reconciliation and peace prevailing in the north-south relations, the families of the victims and other Korean people hold out hope to see their beloved daughters coming back.

National reconciliation and unity are by no means abstract concepts.

The processes of unraveling one by one the tangled issues remaining pending in history and relieving every member of the nation of their pain would be steps toward peace and reunification.

The settlement of humanitarian issues attributable to hideous policy for confrontation with the fellow countrymen pursued by the past conservative regime is a prerequisite.

This would also serve as an important occasion showcasing the sincerity and will of the south Korean authorities for the sustained development of the north-south ties and peace and reunification of the Korean peninsula.

This is the reason why the repatriation of the women citizens of the DPRK draws attention of all the fellow countrymen and the international community, beyond the humanitarian issue.

The atrocities committed by traitor Park Geun Hye who made a mockery of the destinies of the flowering girls and tried to tarnish the image of the dignified DPRK in order to meet her dirty political ambition can never be pardoned.

No one can shun or connive at it.

The concealment of the crime against humanity committed by traitor Park Geun Hye would mean an open denial of the south Korean mindset willing to see the abolition of evils, and a serious crime going against the implementation of the Panmunjom Declaration.

The ambiguous attitude to the send-back of the women citizens of the DPRK would be little short of adding more crime.

A proper step is essential. -0-
