KCNA Commentary Reveals What Happened behind Dialogue

Pyongyang, January 31 (KCNA) -- There are signs of unwanted moves of confrontation going against the warming situation on the Korean Peninsula.

Shortly ago, the U.S. and the south Korean authorities held the second high-level meeting of the diplomatic and defense council for carrying out the extended deterrent strategy in Washington to discuss such issues as expanding rotation deployment of the U.S. strategic assets in and around south Korea and maintaining the "system of cooperation in the smear campaign against the north."

Recently the U.S. has sent towards the Korean Peninsula its nuclear strategic bombers and nuclear aircraft carrier strike groups one after another and accelerated preparations for secret special operations to be ready for contingency, bringing the danger into relief.

We have already laid bare the sinister intention of the U.S. blocking the harmony of our nation and trying to aggravate the situation while paying lip-service to "support" or "welcome" for the inter-Korean dialogue, and issued a series of warnings.

But, they went the length of hatching the criminal plot designed to formulate and plan military confrontation targeting the DPRK behind dialogue.

All the facts show that the U.S. sinister plot has already gone into action to block the recent developments for the improved inter-Korean relations and drive the hard-won atmosphere of regional detente into the mire of standoff and conflicts.

Now is the time for all Koreans and the international community to see through the true intention of the U.S. over dialogue and peace.

Notably, the south Korean authorities should come to their senses.

It is not good deed to hatch a plot for military confrontation with the U.S. against the fellow countrymen after having a dialogue with the DPRK.

It is as clear as noonday that massive deployment of nuclear strike means of the U.S. imperialist aggression forces in the Korean Peninsula and its vicinity will add to the danger of nuclear war and create a phase of extreme tension rather than regional peace.

If the south Korean authorities fail to see through the true intention of the U.S. to bind south Korea to "consultative council", "alliance" and others and use it as a war servant, a sacrifice of nuclear war, and continue to play into its hands, they will face self-destruction. They should be aware that such action will put out the valuable spark for the improved inter-Korean relations and lead them to ruin.

Dialogue can never go with confrontation.

All the fellow countrymen at home and abroad should resolutely oppose and reject military nexus of the U.S. and the south Korean authorities against the climate favorable for the inter-Korean reconciliation. -0-
