Pyongyang, February 24 (KCNA) -- The U.S. authorities announced that
they would unconditionally stage Key Resolve and Foal Eagle joint
military exercises while vociferating about "threat", "peace offensive"
and the like. They peddled the trite assertions that the U.S.-south
Korea joint military exercises have been staged as "annual events" in a
transparent and open manner for the sole purpose of "defense".
Rodong Sinmun Tuesday says in an article that the aggressive nature of the joint military exercises can never be concealed.
Key Resolve and Foal Eagle are not ones for "defense to cope with
"threat" of someone but drills for a war to stifle the DPRK by force,
the article notes, and goes on:
The whole course of Key Resolve and Foal Eagle is aimed to occupy
the DPRK through preemptive strikes. This is evidenced by scenarios
applied to Key Resolve and Foal Eagle every year.
Last year, too, the U.S. staged the largest-ever Ssangyong combined
landing drill for the purpose of "occupying Pyongyang" at a time when
Key Resolve and Foal Eagle reached their height.
Involved in the exercises are huge forces including the U.S. forces
in south Korea and other forces in the U.S. mainland, the Pacific and
Japan. The number of them is increasing systematically.
The ground, naval and air strike means involved in the exercises are
bringing into bolder relief the aggressive nature of the exercises.
It is the principled stand of the DPRK that it neither feels any
need to sit at a negotiating table with the U.S. nor have any
willingness to deal with it now that it made clear that it would put
into practice such scenarios for a war as OPLAN 5027 aimed at bringing
down the social system of the DPRK.
A chance for dialogue and diplomatic solution had already been
scuppered. What remains to be done is to militarily react to the U.S.
while bolstering up war deterrence to the maximum. -0-
