National Peace Committee Slams Germ and Chemical Warfare Committed by U.S. against Koreans

Pyongyang, February 18 (KCNA) -- The National Peace Committee of Korea issued an indictment Tuesday denouncing the U.S. for committing indelible crimes against the Korean nation and condemning the south Korean puppet forces for defending their master, the U.S., and insulting the fellow countrymen.
The Hague declaration banning the use of toxic gas, the Geneva protocol banning the use in war of asphyxiating, toxic and other gases and method of germ warfare, treaty and rules on ground war and usage and other international law and war norms shall ban the use of germ weapons and poisonous chemical weapons and other weapons of mass destruction, define their users as hideous criminals and hold them to account under the criminal law, the indictment said, and went on:
During the Korean war the U.S. mobilized germ weapons and poisonous chemical weapons and committed unprecedented massacres in wanton violation of international law and norms.
While working out a plan for a war against the DPRK, the U.S. pushed forward the preparations for germ warfare in strict confidence.
After the Japanese imperialists' defeat in the Second World War, the U.S. buckled down to collecting research data of unit 731 of the Imperial Japanese Army and in 1947 it concluded a secret agreement on not taking war criminal Shiro Ishii, commander of the unit, and other murderers to the Tokyo war criminal court in return for taking over experts in germ and chemical warfare of the unit and results of experiments of germ weapons on living bodies conducted by the unit.
According to this, the U.S. took over from Japan data on more than 8 000 experiments of germ and toxic gases on more than 3.6 million living bodies, various reference data, photos, film slides, drawing of germ shells, and germ research institutes and facilities in Japan.
At the instructions of MacArthur, the then commander of the U.S. forces in the Far East, Shiro Ishii and other war criminals of the unit were involved in the research of germ weapons carried out by the U.S. forces.
The data of the unit were transferred to a unit of the U.S. forces known as a center for the study of biological weapons at that time and U.S. scientists worked out more than 20 kinds of study reports based on it.
Based on the data presented by Japanese experts on germ warfare and its own researches, the U.S. carried out several experiments of germ weapons spreading cholera and Japanese encephalitis among south Koreans in 1946 and 1949.
The U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff drafted an emergency operational plan for germ warfare based on it and put the plan into practice against the Korean people during the Korean war, the indictment said, citing facts.
    It continued:
The U.S. imperialist aggression forces who had put the northern half of Korea under their temporary occupation during the June 25 war were beaten back by the Korean People's Army and took to flight when they spread in a crafty manner a number of contagious disease germs including smallpox in many areas including Pyongyang, Yangdok County of South Phyongan Province and Kowon and Jangjin counties of South Hamgyong Province between November 29 to December 8, 1950.
A top secret document dated September 21, 1951 which ordered the "large experiment of specified pathogens in actual situation to see their effects for germ warfare in operational situation" was discovered at the U.S. national archives in 2010.
In November 1951 the U.S. imperialists dropped the first germ bomb in the areas north of the River Chongchon and south of the River Amnok and in Yangdok, Hamhung and Wonsan with the involvement of the U.S. third bomber wing in the Kunsan air base and the 19th bomber wing under the command of the U.S. air force in the Far East based on Okinawa.
Entering 1952 they began an all-out germ warfare, massively dropping germ bombs in all areas of the northern half of Korea.
They made no scruple of using even internationally banned chemical weapons, to say nothing of germ weapons.
During the indiscriminate bombing of Nampho City on May 6, 1951, the U.S. spread toxic gas, killing 1 379 inhabitants. On July 6 and September 1 it dropped tear, asphyxiating and other toxic gases in the area of Wonsan and several areas of South and North Hwanghae provinces, poisoning and killing many people.
They even made no scruple of mixing poisonous substances in sweets, biscuits, taffy, toasts, canned food, shellfish and other foodstuff and bank notes before dropping them from planes.
The U.S. imperialists used prisoners from our side as guinea pigs for germ and chemical warfare in wanton violation of international agreement on treatment of POWs and killed them in a barbarous way.
Revealing that the U.S. resorted to bio-chemical war even after the conclusion of the Armistice Agreement, the indictment continued:
The U.S. introduced to south Korea a detachment of the U.S. micro-biological research institute under unit 406 of the germ weapons institute of the U.S. army stationed in Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan in 1976 and set up germ research institutes at Korea University, Kyunghee University, etc. where they carried out the experiment of epidemic hemorrhagic fever, malignant infectious disease of high fatality, thus verifying the effect of its spread.
The U.S. man-killers even used the internal organs of living persons and even embryos for the experiment of germ weapons.
It viciously carried out the preparations for chemical warfare targeting the DPRK.
The U.S. which had openly cried out for "continued modernization of poisonous materials for battles, one of fundamental elements of the U.S. military potentials" has massively introduced into south Korea and stockpiled there a huge amount of chemical weapons and toxic chemical materials including binary chemical weapons whose use is banned internationally.
The puppet forces of south Korea who witnessed the efficiency of bio-chemical weapons when the U.S. used them in the Vietnamese war, began to develop bio-chemical weapons in June 1981.
They have pushed ahead with the joint development of germ and chemical weapons with research institutes under the U.S. Defense Department and the U.S. Army while reinforcing the think-tank of their own germ weapons research institute.
They also egged not only munitions enterprises but also civilian enterprises on to massively develop and produce bio-chemical weapons with the approval of the U.S. master on possession of independent bio-chemical warfare capabilities.
The puppet forces also let germ weapons research institute massively breed various insects, ticks and rodents for the experiment on living bodies of germs and viruses and made several universities including Korea University and Kyunghee University to set up germ research institutes in collaboration with the U.S. and develop new pathogens of high contagiousness.
These facts are just a tip of iceberg of bio-chemical warfare committed by the U.S. and the south Korean puppet forces on the Korean peninsula during the Korean war and the postwar period.
The international organizations including the UN and the world people should take the U.S. to the international war criminal tribunal for such hideous crimes as taking lives of a number of Koreans through murderous germ and chemical warfare and polluting the land of Korea, sternly punish war criminals under international law and force them to pay a thousand-fold price for the huge damage they caused to the Koreans.
The puppet forces can not evade punishment as they are accomplices with the U.S. in its germ and chemical warfare. They should apologize before the nation and face stern punishment for defending and conniving at the U.S. germ warfare that had already been disclosed before the world and committing such thrice-cursed crimes as rubbing salt on the wounds of a great number of victims and their bereaved families. -
