Press Release June 2012 Asia-Pacific Solidarity Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of Kore

This year marks the centenary of the birth of the Great Leader and President KIM IL SUNG it also marks the twelve anniversary of the historic June 15th 2000 inter-Korean Summit meeting and the declaration of “By Our Nation Itself” for the peaceful Independent reunification of Korea.
Through the wise leadership, determination and devotion to the Korean people Kim IL Sung chartered a path for the Korean people to follow in their struggle to achieve the Peaceful Independent Reunification of the Korea Nation.
President Kim IL Sung exerted strenuous efforts for the reunification of Korea ever since its division by the United State declaring that the greatest present that he could make for the Korean nation would be the country’s reunification. He laid its fundamental basis by setting forth the three charters of the Korean reunification – three principles of Korea’s reunification, Ten point Programme of the Great Unity of the Whole Nation for the Reunification of the Country, and the proposal of founding the Democratic Federal Republic of Koryo. On July the 7th the day before he passed away (July 8th 1994) he read a document related to the country’s reunification and endorsed it with his signature. Through his efforts a solid foundation for reunification of the Korea nation was laid.
The reunification of Korea, in its essence is to realise completely the peaceful sovereignty on the national scale without any foreign domination and interference. The June 15th Joint Declaration made public that North and South will realise the country’s reunification independently by the Korean nation itself. Based on this, the ideal for the development of North and South relations has been the principle of “By Our Nation Itself” which encourages both north and south to act as one nation, to join efforts and unify together for the settlement of national reunification issue
Reunification had been the lifetime wish of President KIM IL SUNG and the desire of the entire Korean nation, but unfortunately it is yet to be completed.
The US Imperialist and the anti-reunification forces of South Korea are defying the entire Korean people who wish for reunification, reconciliation and unity of their nation by continuing their provocative, hostile and military actions against the DPRK. Furthermore the Lee Myung Bak regime of the south have rejected the previous adopted declarations declared North Korea as an arch enemy and advocated the “theory of giving priority to the South Korea-US relationship”.
Due to the constant presence of the huge number of US military forces with ultra-modern military equipment and its continual political, military and reckless confrontation policies against the DPRK increases the threat of war escalating into a nuclear confrontation.
This constant threat to peace on the Korean Peninsula demands that all peace loving and progressive people in the Asia-Pacific and Oceania region firmly unite and increase their solidarity activities in support of the peaceful reunification of Korea.
For this purpose the Asia –Pacific Solidarity Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of Korea on the anniversary and in support of the historic June 15th 2000 calls for mass rallies, press releases, leaflets distribution and other appropriate activities to be organised on a mass scale by all solidarity and peace forces throughout the region.
