Pyongyang, May 25 (KCNA) -- The 20th Meeting of the Political Bureau of the Eighth Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) took place on May 24.
Kim Jong Un, general secretary of the WPK, attended the meeting.
Also present there were Jo Yong Won and Choe Ryong Hae, members of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the WPK Central Committee, and members and alternate members of the Political Bureau of the WPK Central Committee.
The meeting discussed an agenda item of convening the Tenth Plenary Meeting of the Eighth WPK Central Committee.
The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un presided over the meeting.
Kim Jong Un referred to the necessity to convene the Tenth Plenary Meeting of the Eighth WPK Central Committee, which will conduct an interim review of the work in the first half of this year and discuss and decide a series of important issues, in order to successfully implement this year's orientation of state affairs and all tasks decided at the Ninth Plenary Meeting of the Eighth WPK Central Committee.
He outlined the major agenda items to be discussed at the plenary meeting, and proposed a draft decision of the Political Bureau.
The Political Bureau of the WPK Central Committee adopted with unanimous approval a decision on convening the Tenth Plenary Meeting of the Eighth WPK Central Committee late in June.
The Political Bureau also discussed other important issues arising in the work of the Party and state, and heard a general report of the General Staff of the Korean People's Army on the recent military situation.
The meeting advanced the immediate tasks for military activities by the armed forces of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea to creditably defend the national sovereignty, security and interests, and underlined the need to responsibly carry them out. -0-
