Contribution of the Juche Idea Study of Ireland on What is Juche ?

The Juche Idea was born during the Anti Japanese period when            KIM IL SUNG studied tirelessly to create change and to inspire the masses to fight against the Japanese for the liberation of Korea. 

He had studied the works of great Philosophers such as Karl Marx, Friedrich Engels & Russian revolutionary Vladimir Lenin. Prior to the Kalun meeting, there had been work and revolutionary activities carried out however these organisations were engaged in factionalism and a reliance on “large powers” which in turn makes the Korean revolutionary a slave to the power of a different country, and thus defeating the point of an independence struggle against the Japanese imperialists. They also tried to gain recognition which again was a defect in the organisations trying to achieve Korea being freed from the shackles of the Japanese. 

KIM IL SUNG as a young man knew these defects and after his tireless work in studying, and analysing the conditions he formed the nucleus for the Juche Idea which means that man (the masses) are in charge of their destiny i.e. the revolution must be carried out by the Korean people, and only them without the reliance on outside forces which in turn opens the door to reliance and interference. The motivational force of the revolution and construction is by the Korean people. 

The Juche Idea solves the problems that occurred during previous attempts to rally the people by different organisations. The Juche Idea solves the problems by keeping to the reality of the situation and the situation of the Korean revolution. The Koreans to this day solve their own problems and overcome any walls that outside forces build, and smash them thanks to the Juche Idea. 

Thus the Juche Idea was born from an idea to becoming a reality which completed the process of it being born and grown into reality.

It is vital that we learn about the Kalun meeting and its importance to the Juche Idea and the utopia of true Socialism in Korea today. At the Kalun meeting the Juche Idea was put into reality as it provided the struggle for independence as the lifeline of the masses, the country and nation for its realisation. 

The Koreans took a firm grasp and began their revolutionary path to control their destiny without the reliance on outside powers, without the need to be recognised, and most importantly to have the people at the first. The unity that it created is one that can’t ever be broken by even the strongest material in the living universe. 

Comrades, that is why the Juche Idea is the heartbeat of the Korean revolution and why People’s Korea is the proud independent country it is today.

GIs, get out from south Korea!

 

GIs, get out from south Korea!   Of late, a preparatory committee for National Independence Meeting held a monthly rally outside the US embassy in Seoul. The US military hostilities, its stubborn sanctions and pressure against and upon north Korea, drive the situation of the Korean Peninsula to the brink of war, the US should roll back its hostile policy, abandon its nuclear policy towards north Korea and withdraw its nuclear offensive weapons and means, they stated. Meantime, the Progressive Federation of University Students had a rally to demand withdrawal of the US troops from south Korea outside the US military base in Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi Province.  The confirmed cases of Covid-19 are on the increase among the GIs present in south Korea and it is sixteen times bigger than the confirmed cases of the south Koreans, it noted. The GIs should accept a strict investigation. The US troops, which pay no heed to the lives of the south Koreans, should be withdrawn from south Korea, they chanted.    “Shut down the US military infectious with Covid-19” and “Pull the US troops out of south Korea” they shouted slogans through megaphones. The chairman of the South Headquarters of the Pan-national Alliance for Korea’s Reunification pointed out that he would direct maximum efforts into the withdrawal of the US troops from south Korea from 2021 and a member of pro-unification organization said that he would make every effort to withdraw the US troops from south Korea.

 

Disturbance of peace and security

 

Disturbance of peace and security   Of late, the south Korean military authorities are busy with development of advanced weaponry and arms buildup in order to get rid of their military inferiority caused by the DPRK's strong military muscle. The operational report of the Ministry of Defense of south Korea for 2021 stressed the enhancement of surveillance and alarm system of unmanned reconnaissance plane to be used in the corps and divisions of the south Korean army to cope with threat from the DPRK’s ballistic rockets. The report specified the continuous reinforcement of war potential including detection of missiles.  They are going to form “smart division” in the army, “smart naval port” in the navy and “smart wing” in the air force in order to bolster up the military strength with high technology. They also put spurs to modernization of conventional weapons. They are going to make a light aircraft carrier to deter “provocation” of the DPRK and build a nuclear-powered submarine with the help of the US. It is a manifestation of the military authorities atremble with anxiety and fear by the powerful military muscle of the DPRK. At the same time, it is a grave military provocation wrecking peace and security of the Korean Peninsula.  Broad segments of south Koreans express their objection to the south Korean military’s plan for arms buildup and launch campaign for peace against war.

  The Association for the Study of Songun Politics(ASSPUK) ,  the British Group for the Study of the Juche Idea  (BGSJI), the UK Korean Friendship Association(UK KFA) and British Solidarity Committee for Peace and Reunification on the Korean Peninsula (BSCPRKP)issued the following joint statement on the occasion of the 102nd  anniversary of the March 1st popular uprising in Korea
   The March 1st popular uprising of the Korean people was a heroic act of mass resistance to the barbaric imperialist colonial rule of Japan . It was the result of the bitter resentment of the Korean people towards imperialist Japan which had annexed Korea some 9 years before in 1910 after long coveting the land of Korea and planning to seize it by hook or by crook. The March 1st popular uprising was a just uprising against oppression and exploitation by Japanese imperialism.
  The great leader President KIM IL SUNG wrote in his reminiscences  "With the Century " that
"Through the March First Popular Uprising the Korean people demonstrated to the whole world that ours are a people with a strong spirit of independence who do not want to live as the slaves of others and that they are a people with indomitable stamina and ardent patriotism who fear no sacrifice in order to regain their country"
    The reactionary Japanese imperialists brutally suppressed the  uprising by force killing many innocent people. A total of 7 500  people were killed, 46 900 arrested and jailed and 15 900 wounded. This shows the gruesome barbarity of the samurai wielding bloodthirsty Japanese imperialists.
                                                    

     Japan has never apologized for its crimes nor has it paid reparations to the Korean people. Instead top Japanese politicians visit the shrine of the war criminals. Today Japan is the shock brigade of
US imperialism in Asia. Japan is being encouraged by the US to see itself as a regional power(not that Japanese militarism needs much encouragement)  Japanese imperialism is planning to make a comeback in Korea. It has laid claims to Tok Islet in south Korea. Japan also dominates the south Korean economy and jointly exploits south Korea with US imperialism . Japan pursues an extremely hostile policy towards the DPRK. Japan  commits acts of terrorism against Korean residents in Japan and is denying them the right to education.
      Although the March 1st popular uprising was brutally suppressed by the Japanese imperialists the independent spirit of the heroic up-risers is alive . Today that spirit of independence is represented by the Juche idea and the anti-imperialist Democratic People's Republic of Korea led by the dear respected leader Marshal KIM JONG UN , outstanding anti-imperialist leader of our epoch. South Korea lacks independence and the spirit of  Juche.  .True to the spirit of the March 1st Uprisers south Korea must become totally  independent and throw off all shackles.
    Our organisations urge  that Japan should apologise to the Korean people and compensate them for its crimes . Moreover Japan should take its hands off Korea and keep out ! Forward to a totally independent reunified Korea free from the domination of outside forces,.

 The Association For the Study of Songun Politics UK(ASSPUK),the British Group for the Study of the Juche Idea (BGSJI),the UK Korean Friendship Association(UK KFA)  and  the British Solidarity Committee for Peace and Reunification on the Korean peninsula (BSCPRKP ) issued a joint statement about the recent 2nd Plenary Meeting of the 8th Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea ;

The 2nd Plenary Meeting of the 8th Central Committee of the Workers Party of Korea(WPK) was held in Pyongyang , DPRK from the 8th of February to the 11th of February . The meeting was presided over and guided by the general secretary of the WPK respected Marshal KIM JONG UN . The main purpose of the meeting was to discuss the implementation of the decisions of the historic 8th Congress of the WPK . The meeting was attended not only by members and alternate members of the Central Committee of the WPK but also heads of departments and local party officials .

The meeting discussed the implementation of the new five year plan during its first year . The meeting correctly criticised those who were not properly implementing the new five year and had tried to lower targets which had been set by the Congress of the WPK . The meeting defined the  abuse of power , bureaucracy and   irregularities  as ‘anti-Party, anti-state and anti-people acts’ . Moreover it considered acts of self-centeredness and self -preservation as the biggest obstacle to implementing party decisions . 

The meeting adopted new militant slogans for the implementation of the new five year plan . It was also resolved to further intensify the struggle against anti-socialist and non-socialist practices.

It is indeed very heartening that the WPK will step up the struggle against all anti-socialist and non-socialist acts . In the past the former revisionist led socialist  countries failed to struggle against anti-socialism and instead even connived at them , People’s Korea led by great Marshal KIM JONG UN and the great Workers’ Party of Korea will not fall into the same trap.

Hearing the news of the 2nd Plenary Meeting of the 8th Central Committee of the WPK our organisations feel very encouraged and inspired . We are sure that the decisions of the 2nd plenary meeting of the 8th Central Committee of the WPK will lead to a great upsurge in socialist construction under the banner of self-reliance . We support the decisions of the 2nd Plenary Meeting of the 8th Central Committee of the WPK and wish the Korean people great success in implementing the decisions of the 8th Congress of the WPK , also in carrying out the five plan and decisively smashing all anti-socialist and non-socialist acts  !

Chairman of WPK Central Military Commission Kim Jong Un Gives Order to Promote Military Ranks of Commanding Officers

 Pyongyang, February 25 (KCNA) -- Kim Jong Un, chairman of the Central Military Commission of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK), on Feb. 24 gave an order to promote the military ranks of major commanding officers.

According to the order, Ju Tong Chol, Ko Won Nam, Kim Yong Mun, Kim Chung Song and Jang Sun Mo were promoted to lieutenant general and Ri Myong Ho, Kim Chol Ju, Jong Pong Chan, Sin Jong Nam, Choe Tae Un, Ri Tu Il, Jon Ung Chol, Kang Chol Ryong, Kang Kyong Ho, Pak Jae Yong, Han Jong Sik, Jong Yong Chol, Hwang Song Chol, Song Yong Se, Sin Jae Yong, O Yong Su, Kim Jin Uk, Jon Myong Hak, Ju Chol Jin, Ri Myong Ho, Ri In Su, Pak Thae I, So Chang Ho, Choe In Chol, Rim Hak, Kim Myong Il and Han Jong Chol to major general. -0-

First Enlarged Meeting of Eighth Central Military Commission of WPK Held Respected Comrade Kim Jong Un Guides Enlarged Meeting

 Pyongyang, February 25 (KCNA) -- The First Enlarged Meeting of the 8th Central Military Commission of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) took place at the office building of the Central Committee of the WPK on Feb. 24.

Kim Jong Un, general secretary of the WPK and president of the State Affairs of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, guided the enlarged meeting.

Attending the meeting were Ri Pyong Chol, vice-chairman of the Central Military Commission of the WPK, and its members.

Also present at the meeting were commanding officers of the services and corps-level units of the Korean People's Army (KPA), executive members of the KPA Committee of the WPK, commanding officers of some armed forces organs and vice-directors of the relevant departments of the C.C., WPK.

The meeting referred to a series of shortcomings revealed in the military and political activities and moral life of KPA commanding officers, and mainly discussed the issue of thoroughly establishing the revolutionary moral discipline within the KPA.

To establish the revolutionary moral discipline within the KPA is not just a technical issue, but a fatal issue related to the existence of the KPA and success or failure in the army building and military activities, the respected General Secretary said, and added that in order to settle the important issue, it is necessary above all to intensify the education and control aimed at ensuring that the KPA commanding officers of the new generation have the proper political consciousness and moral point of view.

The meeting stressed the need for all Party organizations and political institutions of the KPA to regard the establishment of the revolutionary discipline and moral traits as a major task of the present time for thoroughly establishing the command system of the Party Central Committee, enhancing combat capability and giving full play to the noble spiritual and moral superiority of the revolutionary army, and underlined the need to carry out the task in an intensive way.

Then the meeting discussed an organizational matter on dismissing or appointing major commanding officers of the armed forces organs.

The Central Military Commission of the WPK appointed Kim Song Gil as commander of the Navy of the KPA and conferred the title of Vice Admiral on him.

Kim Chung Il was appointed as commander of the KPA Air and Anti-Aircraft Force and the title of Lieutenant General was conferred on him.

A decision to promote the military ranks of major commanding officers was also adopted at the meeting.

According to the decision of the Central Military Commission of the WPK, the title of KPA Vice Marshal was conferred on Kim Jong Gwan, minister of National Defence of the DPRK, and Kwon Yong Jin, director of the KPA General Political Bureau. -0-

Samjiyon City People’s Hospital

 The Samjiyon City People's Hospital was inaugurated in Ryanggang Province in the northern part of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea in October 2020. 

Samjiyon, located on the highlands of about 1 300m above sea level, has recently turned into a model of cultural mountainous city where the people’s ideals are realized and which incorporates modern civilization under the active support of the Workers’ Party of Korean and the DPRK government. 

This hospital, not inferior to the central hospitals, has specialized departments such as emergency, medical, surgical, pediatric, obstetrical and gynaecological and dental departments, every one of which is equipped with the latest medical apparatuses and appliances. 

Various kinds of equipment of the latest level for test and disinfection are also furnished here. 

With the multifunctional telemedicine system built, its medical service is put on an IT footing. 

It has also excellent in-patient wards, rooms for exercising for treatment and rehabilitation, children’s playing area and indoor park. 

This hospital is an epitome of the advanced healthcare system of the country, which is free of charge. 

The DPRK is directing great efforts to developing the public health sector, a major image of its own style of socialism. It is developing new fields of medical science and technology, building specialized medical bases, and renovating the existing pharmaceutical and medical appliances factories to turn out highly-efficacious medicines and advanced medical science and technology, building specialized medical bases, and renovating the existing pharmaceutical and medical appliances factories to turn out highly-efficacious medicines and advanced medical equipment and supplies. 

It has established telemedicine system covering the country, and modernized the hospitals and clinics as befitting medical service bases in relevant areas to improve he quality of their medical service.

 In recent years, the Breast Tumour Institute of the Pyongyang Maternity Hospital, Okryu Children's Hospital, Ryugyong Dental Hospital, Ryugyong General Ophthalmic Hospital and other advanced medical service bases have been built.

 Medical oxygen factories have been built in many parts of the country, and other factories related with public health service, including the Myohyangsan Medical Appliances Factory and the Huichon Hospital Bed Factory have been renovated or built. 

The Samjiyon City People's Hospital was built as a standard for local hospitals in the DPRK amidst the comprehensive implementation of the policy of attaching importance to public health.

Ecosystem: Another Attraction of Rason

 The Rason area in the northern part of the DPRK, which is famous as a Golden Triangle among many people of the world, is enjoying the attention of the people with its another attraction. 

This area is a treasure house of nature with a diversified and abundant ecosystem.

Mundok Migratory Bird Reserve

                                               

The Mundok migratory bird reserve, located in the wetland on the West Sea of Korea, is an ideal place for energy supplement and relaxation for the birds migrating thousands of kilometres. Every year over 80 thousands of birds of about 120 species visit this reserve. 

In many countries people put colorful rings around their legs for their conservation and observation. Such birds are often seen in this reserve.

DPRK’s Will to Strengthen National Defence Capability

                                                

Proceeding from sheer desire to ensure peace and security of the Korean peninsula and the rest of the world, the Workers’ Party of Korea has made well-meant efforts and displayed the greatest patience to prevent the aggravation of the regional tension. But the intensity of the hostile forces’ policies towards the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea has gone to extreme, instead of becoming weakened. The enemy’s high-tech weapons aimed at the DPRK are increasing in volume. 

To cope with this, the WPK, at its recent 8th congress, solemnly declared that it would steadily bolster the national defence capability. 

Along with major tasks for preparing the Korean People’s Army more firmly, it set forth the core plan and strategic tasks of crucial importance in rapidly developing and strengthening the national defence industry. In order to thoroughly contain, control and handle on its own initiative various military threats on the Korean peninsula, which are inevitably accompanied by nuclear threats, it decided to raise the nuclear technology to a higher level, make nuclear weapons smaller and lighter for more tactical uses, develop various tactical nuclear weapons and continuously push ahead with the production of super-sized nuclear warheads.

It also set a goal of attaining an advanced capability for making a preemptive and retaliatory nuclear strike by further raising the rate of precision good enough to strike and annihilate any strategic targets within the range of 15 000 kilometres with pinpoint accuracy. And it brought up the tasks to develop and introduce hypersonic gliding flight warheads in a short period, push ahead with the development of solid-fueled inter-continental underwater and ground ballistic rockets as scheduled, and possess a nuclear submarine and an underwater-launched nuclear strategic weapon. 

It also decided to secure the ability of reconnaissance and information gathering through the operation of a military reconnaissance satellite, and conduct in real earnest the research to develop reconnaissance drones and other means of reconnaissance capable of precisely reconnoitring up to 500 km deep into the front.

It defined it as the main task facing the sector of defence science at present to rapidly advance the Korean People’s Army from the conventional type into an elite hi-tech one by drastically developing the defence science and technology and inventing a larger number of advanced weapons and combat equipment.

It set it as the priority target of the munitions industry to make military equipment intelligent, precise, unmanned, highly-performing and light and decided to orient research and development to this end. 

It also advanced the tasks for completing the preparations for all-people resistance, the matter of crucial importance that should never be neglected in firmly consolidating the national defence capability. 

The major tasks for strengthening the national defence capability set forth at the Eighth Congress of the WPK are an expression of its unshakable faith and will to continuously strengthen the country's military capabilities until the vicious cycle of the brink of war and detente, tension and dialogue is removed once and for all and such words as threat and blackmail by the hostile forces disappear on this land, considering the situation in which the international balance of power is crumbling owing to the reckless arms buildup of the US and other hostile forces. 

Will the Spring Come Again?

                                        

 On April 27, 2018, the top leaders of north and south Korea adopted the Panmunjom Declaration for Peace, Prosperity and Reunification of the Korean Peninsula reflecting the firm will to put an end to the long-standing division and confrontation, an outcome of the cold war, as early as possible, to courageously open a new era of national reconciliation, peace and prosperity and to improve and develop the north-south relations more proactively. 

The international community extended full support to the historic summit meetings and talks of the north and the south, saying that they represented a big progress towards peace and security of the Korean peninsula and the rest of the world. There were positive movements for large-scale exchanges and cooperation between the north and the south. It was as if a balmy spring day had come.

The south Korean authorities, however, abandoned the implementation of the joint declaration and continued their abnormal anti-reunification actions in support of the hostile policy of the US towards the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea. It is no exaggeration to say that the current inter-Korean relations have been brought back to the time before the publication of the Panmunjom Declaration. 

Although the south Korean authorities are now giving an impression as if they were concerned about the improvement of the inter-Korean relations by raising such inessential issues as cooperation in epidemic prevention and humanitarian field and individual tourism, they are actually going against the implementation of the north-south agreement on guaranteeing peace and military stability on the Korean peninsula in disregard of the north’s repeated warnings that they should stop introducing latest military hardware and waging joint military exercises with the US. 

Worse still, they are getting more frantic about modernizing their armed forces labelling the north’s development of various conventional weapons, which pertains entirely to its independent rights, a “provocation.” 

The Korean nation is now standing on the crucial crossroads of whether to advance  along the road of peace and reunification after breaking the serious deadlock in the inter-Korean relations or to continue to suffer the pain resulting from national division in the vicious cycle of confrontation and danger of war.

 Recently at the Eighth Congress of the Workers’ Party of Korea, the WPK’s General Secretary Kim Jong Un said that a new road towards improved inter-Korean relations based on firm trust and reconciliation could be paved only when the south Korean authorities strictly control and root out any abnormal and anti-reunification conducts and that the inter-Korean relations might return to a new starting point of peace and prosperity in the near future, as desired by all Korean compatriots, as they did in the spring three years ago, depending on the south Korean authorities’ attitude. 

Whether the inter-Korean relations can be restored and invigorated or not entirely depends on the attitude of the south Korean authorities.

Workers of Hwanghae Iron and Steel Complex Call for Going All Out for Implementation of First-Year Tasks of Five-year Plan

 Pyongyang, February 23 (KCNA) -- An appeal to all the working people across the country was adopted at the meeting of the workers of the Hwanghae Iron and Steel Complex on Monday to vow to carry out the first-year tasks of the five-year plan without fail in hearty response to the spirit of the Second Plenary Meeting of the 8th Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea.

The appeal stressed that the great fighting programme set forth at the historic 2nd Plenary Meeting of the 8th Central Committee of the Party has stirred up the complex, adding the goals that seemed to be far from attainment got nearer and confidence and courage became stronger through the deep study of the idea and spirit of the plenary meeting.

The appeal said that the report made by the respected General Secretary Kim Jong Un at the said plenary meeting expounds not only campaign goals but also policies and good methods for overcoming the manifold hardships most quickly and successfully making a turning-point in economic revitalization.

Saying that everything will go well as long as they are done as instructed by the respected General Secretary, the appeal evinced the steel-strong pledge of the working people of the complex.

It said that the production of iron and steel has to be doubled this year in comparison with last year, but the complex will attain this year's goal without fail by carrying forward the patriotism and loyalty displayed by the preceding generation while pushing forward with huge projects for expanding its production capacity.

In the appeal, the workers of the complex called on all the working people across the country to take an active part in the all-people and all-out onward campaign, death-defying campaign for defending the authority of the Party and glorifying the era of our state-first principle all over the world.

The time has come for us to give full play to the great might and abounding zeal for the sake of our Party, revolution and socialist country, the appeal said, calling for going all out for the implementation of the first-year tasks of the five-year plan advanced by the 8th Party Congress with great revolutionary enthusiasm and patriotism.

It called on the workers in the metal industry to ride the legendary Chollima once again with the heart of loyalty for the respected General Secretary, and on the workers in the chemical industry to redouble their efforts, bearing in mind that the people are waiting for home-produced fertilizer and chemical goods.

It appealed to the workers in the electrical power industry to generate a lot of electricity so as to make all the working sites of the country put production on normal track and increase the production nonstop, and to all the coal miners to increase the coal production with the zeal of loyalty and pure patriotic conscience in order to inject vitality into the advance of the country.

The workers of the railway transport field are appealed to responsibly ensure freight transport for different fields of the national economy just as how it was done despite hails of bullets and shells during the wartime.

The appeal called on the field of machine industry to put greater spurs to the drive of breaking through the cutting edge so as to churn out our machines to be proud of in the world.

The workers in the field of building-materials industry are called upon to create another myth of the DPRK in construction to startle the world people in all construction sites across the country including the construction sites for building 10 000 dwellings in Pyongyang.

The agricultural workers are appealed to become genuine loyalists and patriotic farmers safeguarding the Party and the revolution and defending socialism with increased rice production.

The appeal called on the workers of the light industry to make this year a year of substantial achievements in the home-production of goods and recycling and a year of a great turn to show the new appearance of our light industry after decisively eliminating the inclination to import.

It called on scientists and technicians to powerfully haul the general advance for a new victory by dint of self-reliance with intelligent brains and patriotism and loyalty.

The workers of the munitions industry are called upon to unconditionally attain the goals for the development of the national defence industry set forth at the 8th Congress of the Party with the same spirit, resourcefulness and stamina as those which have been displayed in putting the dignity and prestige of the country on the highest level in the nation's history spanning 5 000 years.

Pyongyang, February 22 (KCNA) -- Kim Jong Un, president of the State Affairs of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, sent a congratulatory message to Ho Jong Man, chairman of the Central Standing Committee of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon), on Feb. 22.

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un in his message extended warm felicitations and comradely greeting to the chairman on his 86th birthday.

The message said that the chairman is a true model overseas revolutionary, who assumed the heavy responsibility for the movement of Koreans in Japan when the homeland underwent the biggest hardship, and has resolutely defended and proudly glorified Chongryon, the patriotic legacy bequeathed by President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il.

The message noted that the Workers' Party of Korea highly appreciates and always remembers the distinguished exploits of the chairman etched in the development course of Chongryon and the movement of Koreans in Japan.

The message hoped that the chairman would work harder for dear Chongryon and beloved compatriots in Japan with the vigor he had displayed when setting out on the 625-mile journey across the eastern mountainous area of the homeland 24 years ago to follow the undying course covered by Chairman Kim Jong Il with a death-defying spirit.

Expressing thanks again to the chairman for his noble fidelity and sincerity, the message wished him good health and his wife and other family members happiness. -0-

Respected Comrade Kim Jong Un Sends Reply Message to Syrian President

 Pyongyang, February 19 (KCNA) -- Kim Jong Un, president of the State Affairs of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, sent a reply message to Bashar Al-Assad, president of the Syrian Arab Republic, on Feb. 17.

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un in his message expressed deep thanks to the Syrian president for sending warm congratulations and the best wishes to him on the 79th birth anniversary of Chairman Kim Jong Il who lives alive in the hearts of the Korean people and the world progressives.

Expressing belief that the historic relations of friendship and cooperation between the two countries provided by the preceding leaders would invariably grow stronger, Kim Jong Un wished the Syrian president good health and the Syrian people bigger success in their just struggle. -0-

Is People's Korea Democratic ? The UK KFA View

So the right wing  US website National Interest  quoting the equally right wing” Economist Intelligence Unit  claims that the  DPRK is ‘the most undemocratic country in the world ‘. My first thought was what a load of nonsense  ! Surely Saudi Arabia would merit that accolade rather than People’s Korea but of course the Economist Intelligence Unit is very right wing and hates socialist countries such as the DPRK so feudal and fascist regimes would be a democratic paradise to them !

Let's examine the  issue in detail . Firstly , what is democracy ? A quick search on Google comes up with the following  definition ‘ a system of government by the whole population or all the eligible members of a state, typically through elected representatives’, other definitions are ‘rue by the people , for the people ‘ . People’s Korea actually neatly fits this definition very well  because it is a true people’s democracy .  

  In People’s Korea everyone over the age of 17 has the right to elect and be elected . A Supreme People’s Assembly which is elected by direct universal and equal suffrage  , elects the State Affairs Commission of the DPR and the Cabinet.

  In the DPRK 99.9 percent of electors participated in the elections and a 100 percent voted for the candidates on the list of the Democratic Front for the Reunification of the Country . In the USA winning candidate  Biden got 81 million votes out of a total of 239 million people eligible to vote ( and many people in the USA are excluded from voting ) meaning only 27 percent of electors voted for him , a minority basically , this means the US fails the definition of democracy . In so-called ‘democracies ‘ those who do not vote for the winning party are effectively disenfranchised and marginalised.

The DPRK does indeed have a different system to bourgeois democracy in the West (which is better described as a plutocracy rather than a democracy ) , it is  people's democracy , socialist democracy and proletarian democracy .  Moreover in Western countries wealth is concentrated in the hands of a minority ; 1 percent of the population. The 1 percent can obviously use their economic power to control the political process.

In the DPRK candidates are chosen by mass meetings of electors first , rather than by a small clique of people putting forward a candidate. No one who does not have the support of the people can forward as a candidate , it is as simple as that . On election day voters approve the candidates .

The mainstream media assert 'there is no choice' in DPRK elections but what real choice is there in many capitalist countries where often all the parties support capitalism ? Really elections in capitalist countries are about deciding who is going to fiddle their expenses and vote themselves a pay rise and more expenses ( the salary for a British Member of Parliament is £81,932 per year) . In People' Korea ordinary workers including street cleaners are elected to the SPA , something that would be almost impossible in a capitalist society . In the UK only one or two members out of 650 members of the UK parliament are of working class origin , this is less than 0.5 per cent . In the DPRK in 1990 ,  47 per cent of deputies to the SPA were workers and farmers. 20 percent of deputies to the SPA are women .

     In People’s Korea there is not only the Supreme People’s Assembly but also Provincial and District People’s Assemblies and People’s Committees . Each block of flats is run by a people’s neighbourhood unit.

Thanks to the Juche idea , the DPRK has a most advanced , superior people-centred democracy. It is the most democratic country in the world .

KCNA Commentary on Japan's Hackneyed Gibberish about "Threat" from DPRK

 

Pyongyang, February 19 (KCNA) -- Japan has raised a hackneyed story about "threat" again.

While opening to the press the drill of deploying Patriot interceptor missiles staged by the air "Self-Defense Force" (SDF) at a base of the ground SDF in Aichi Prefecture days ago, it termed the drill an "effort to cope with north Korea's launch of ballistic missiles and other situations."

Not content with launching reckless military moves from the beginning of this year, only to incur vigilance and concern of regional countries, Japan dared pull up the DPRK, talking rubbish about "threat" from it. This merits serious attention.

The SDF's warmongers are getting frantic in risky military acts, while hyping up a story about "threat from north Korea."

Lurking behind it is their vicious intention to justify the moves to turn Japan into a military giant and realize the old dream for the "Greater East Asia Co-Prosperity Sphere" by inciting the idea of confrontation with the DPRK throughout Japanese society.

Japanese politicians are now displeased with the public mindset remaining opposed to their wild ambition for building a military power.

For this reason, they seek to create a favorable situation for materializing their militaristic wild ambition for overseas expansion by rallying like-minded forces and deliberately creating security unrest.

Last year PM Suga unhesitatingly turned down a proposal for appointing some scholars as national academy members, for they say "no" to militarization of Japan. Those who oppose militarization are barred from entering governmental or non-governmental organizations. Worse still, military drills are extensively staged under the pretext of "threat" from the DPRK.

However, such moves result in dimming the future of Japan.

The operational radius of the SDF, which has been expanded under the pretext of "threat from north Korea", covers the whole world, far beyond its mainland. Its striking capability has surpassed the level of defense. This causes great consternation among the Japanese people and the international community.

It is clear what misfortune such inside and outside fury will bring to Japan.

All these facts prove that the Japanese reactionaries are the very ones that incite unrest and horror in Japan and threaten its security. -0-

Countering anti-DPRK Fake News

A number of media outlets such as Al Jazeera (which is owned and run by reactionary feudalists and Qatari bourgeoisie ) have carried fake news about the DPRK being in ‘crisis ‘ etc . Of course none of these media outlets actually have reporters in Pyongyang or have used any DPRK sources . Instead they quote ‘ South Korea’s spy agency’  ! which can hardly be described as an objective , balanced or reliable source.

 In fact the Korean Central News Agency of the 2nd of February reported that ‘Different industrial sectors and units have attained their targets for the first month of this year’. Also recently the Supung Power Plant has exceeded its daily plan by 102 per cent . Everything is going well .

Al Jazeera ‘s quotes their friends in the south Korean National Intelligence Service as claiming that sugar prices have ‘quadrupled ‘ . This cannot be possible because the DPRK has a planned economy ( and has recently taken measures to strengthen the unified planning and guidance of the economy )  and a State Price Commission which controls prices . Moreover the DPRK actually produces its own Juche Sugar  so does not need to rely on imported sugar . It also  produces Juche fibre ( Vinalon -made from limestone ) , Juche fertiliser and Juche steel .

 Whilst it may possibly be true that foreign trade has slightly decreased due to the sanctions , it should be remembered that in the DPRK foreign trade is only a small percentage of GDP , so would have little effect on the rest of the economy. Some journalists and policymakers forget that the DPRK has been under sanctions and blockade by the US  since 1950  and has not only survived but prospered during that period .

Visiting the DPRK in 2018 and 2019 our delegations saw no obvious or visible effects of the increased sanctions . Prices in the shops were unchanged and indeed the price of a Pyongyang Metro ticket is still the same as in 2012 .

Upholding self-reliance and self-development the DPRK will overcome all challenges and build a socialist paradise !

BACK IN THE DPRK: Juche & Pop Music by John Marchant Staffordshire KFA and Stoke-On Trent Branch of the British Group for the Study of the Juche Idea

Musical history records the term "pop music" was first referred to in 1926. The brief description of pop music is commercially recorded music of a relatively short and simple structure. Pop music as an expression of a musical genre tailored for the youth market and originating in the USA and the UK in the rock and roll style since the late 1950s. This kind of music was typified by the likes of Elvis Presley, The Beatles, Abba, Madonna and Micheal Jackson.

In the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, there had been the tradition of light music that had been played on numerous occasions such as inspiring collective efforts and amusements. At the suggestion of Kim Jong IL the Wangjaesan Band was formed in 1983 and the Pochonbo Electronic Ensemble was established in 1985. Both the names of these leading DPRK musical groups have names with profoundly ideological and historical significance for the Korean people. In March 1933 the Anti-Japanese Forces held a crucial meeting at the base of Mount Wangjae and on June 4th, 1937 the Great Leader Kim IL Sung led the units of the Korean People's Revolutionary Army in the operation to liberate the town of Pochonbo from the Japanese Colonialists, thus proclaiming the rebirth of Korea. The Pochonbo and the Wangjaesan bands have built up a high reputation as distinguished troupes in the course of reinterpreting folk songs and classic DPRK songs to suit modern aesthetic tastes and created new songs characteristic of the socialist era. Electronic and musical instruments were developed to serve Korean style themes.

I have in my collection quite a number of the Pochonbo Band's CDs. My favourite Pochonbo singers are Kim Gwang Suk and Li Gyong Suk. Over the years the Pochonbo Ensemble has recorded many memorable songs like "Don't Ask My Name", "Song of People's Power". "Urban Girl Comes To Get Married", "With The Sunlight & Starlight At Heart'', "Doves Fly High" and "Chollima On The Swing". During the 35 years of Pochonbo's existence, Hwang Jin Yong and Ri Jung O have composed many of the outstanding pieces associated with the ensemble. In 1991, the Pochonbo Band toured Japan leaving audiences with a lasting impression due to the colourful and unique repertoire of Pochonbo. The Pochonbo  Ensemble still retains its popularity in the DPRK as the pioneer of Korean style electronic music.

Kim Jong IL evolved the Juche viewpoint on musicology with the publication of "On The Art of Music'' on July 17th, 1991. In the work, Kim Jong IL asserts that genuine music must faithfully meet the environment of the times and contribute to the mission of the era. In other words, Juche music should agree with the social nature of art when the popular masses strive for independence and liberation. The Juche perspective on music must embody the emotional and psychological sentiments of the masses who want to lead creative and independent lives. There can be no place for art for art's sake or the lowering down to the lowest common denominator. Juche based music should be accessible to everyone and be socialist in content and national in form. All the musical forms in the DPRK benefit the good of the community and enhance the values of collectivism.

With one or two exceptions, the pop and rock music produced in the West over the course of six decades can be seen as a sort of narcotic, preventing the sound ideological, cultural and emotional existence of the population, particularly the youth. Western pop music has become a multi-billion dollar industry, where the songs and performers of this genre are pumped out on an industrial scale as disposable commodities. The lifestyle promoted by the Pop Music Industry in capitalist countries is one of misanthropy, consumerism and hedonism curbing any signs of creativity and fostering conformity. Pop and rock music in many respects are the cultural fronts of imperialism, vandalizing the cultures of various nations and acting like agencies in homogenizing countries into cosmopolitan globalization.

Since their debut concert on July 9th, 2012 the Moranbong Band has taken the world of popular music by storm. The Moranbong Band makes for a harmonious combination of exciting stage routines and catchy melodies with strong socialist values at the core of their performances. In fact, the group derives its name after the famous Moran Hill in central Pyongyang. The songs most linked with the Moranbong Band in recent years are numbers such as "We Will Only Follow You", "Our Comrade Kim Jong Un'', "Dash To The Future", "Lets' Go To  Mount Paektu", "Burning Wish", "Day & Night I Think of You, Leader", "Train To The Frontline" and "Voice of My Heart", among many other equally brilliant hits. Performers like Kim Yu Kyong, Jong So Hyang, Kim Sol Mi and Kim Sol Mi give the songs of the Moranbong Band a powerful rendition as well as the instrumental sections of the group. The Moranbong Band since it came on the scene nine years ago has aroused the attention of the music-loving public from around the world, raising the profile of the DPRK.  Actually, the Japanese fans of The Moranbong Band formed a tribute act called "Sengun-Joshi '' (Military First Girls) and performed in Tokyo and other big cities of Japan. The Moranbong Band has come to personify the spirit and ethos of the Mallima Era under the leadership of General Secretary Kim Jong Un. During the past decade, the Moranbong Band became the foremost musical representative of Kim Jong Un's dynamic way of guiding the DPRK to further successes.  It is always a treat to watch the Moranbong Band stage performances in honour of various significant anniversaries in Socialist Korea. I hope that one day soon that the Moranbong Band will be playing at concert halls in British cities. If you have not already listened to the Pochanbo, the Wangjaesan and the Moranbong Bands, do yourself a favour and get around to enjoying the sensational pop music of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea!!

The Association For the Study of Songun Politics UK and the  British Group for the Study of the Juche Idea  issued the following joint statement to mark the 7th  anniversary of "Let Us Hasten Final Victory Through a Revolutionary Ideological Offensive " by the dear respected leader Marshal KIM JONG UN ;
 Six years have passed since a dear respected Marshal KIM JONG UN made  his historic speech "Let Us Hasten Final Victory Through a Revolutionary Ideological Offensive " to   the 8th  Conference of Ideological workers of the great Workers' Party of Korea , the organiser and guide of the Korean people. This was and is a most brilliant work that shows the way to win victory in the struggle for the final victory of socialism is to mount a bold and daring revolutionary ideological offensive. In the work dear respected Marshal KIM JONG UN declared that
"The one and only weapon for the Korean revolution that made its start empty-handed was a great revolutionary ideology. The revolutionaries of Korea rallied comrades and obtained weapons on the strength of the ideology; and on its strength they defeated imperialist powers and built a prospering socialism"
    This is indeed a great truth and  a principle that should be adhered to constantly. Only through powerful ideological work that people can be motivated to perform greater miracles .                           
   In view of the reactionary imperialist ideological offensive  against socialism that has been carried out over the past several decades and has recently become more and more intense. Dear respected  Marshal KIM JONG UN is a brilliant thinker who believes in the maxim "attack is the best form of defence " and is putting this into effect on the ideological front. The work calls for not only smashing the ideological and cultural infiltration of imperialism but for a most powerful ideological counter-attack to be launched against imperialist and bourgeois ideas.
   The ASSPUK and JISGE hailed the publication of Let Us Hasten Final Victory Through a Revolutionary Ideological Offensive" as it is a most powerful manifesto of KIMILSUNGISM-KIMJONGILISM. Moreover it shows the correct way to build socialism namely through ideological work rather than by certain other methods which have proved disastrous. The Korean revolution and People's Korea of Juche are marching forward under the glorious banner of the Red Flag whilst others have fallen by the wayside or even betrayed the cause of socialism.  The work "Let Us Hasten Final Victory Through a Revolutionary Ideological Offensive" is just like an ideological nuclear deterrent which will blast away imperialism and capitalism.
Since the publication of the work "Let Us Hasten Final Victory Through a Revolutionary Ideological Offensive"  the Korean revolution has steamed ahead at breakneck speed , a new Korean speed with miracles in construction bring wrought every day . Despite the most intense sanctions and blockades ever by the hostile forces many great construction projects such as Mirae Scientists Street , Ryomyong Street and Samjiyon City .

 The work "Let Us Hasten Final Victory Through a Revolutionary Ideological Offensive" has taken on a greater significance  with the successful holding of the historic 8th Congress of the Workers' Party of Korea and the 2nd Plenary meeting of the 8th Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea . Respected Comrade Kim Jong Un Watches Performance for Celebrating Day of Shining Star

 Pyongyang, February 17 (KCNA) -- Kim Jong Un, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) and president of the State Affairs of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, watched the performance for celebrating the Day of the Shining Star, the birth anniversary of Chairman Kim Jong Il, with members of the Party central leadership organ on Tuesday.

The Mansudae Art Theatre, the venue of the performance, was wrapped in great enthusiasm and excitement of the audience who were to enjoy the grand performance with the General Secretary in the time-honored theatre closely associated with the leadership of Kim Jong Il who opened up the flowering period of the Juche-oriented art.

As the General Secretary came to the auditorium of the theatre together with his wife Ri Sol Ju amid the welcome music, all the participants burst into thunderous cheers of "Hurrah!", extending the greatest respect to the General Secretary, who is ushering in a new period of development of building our own-style socialism with noble responsibility for the Party, revolution, country and people.

Officials of the Central Committee of the WPK also watched the performance.

The performance was given by artistes of the band of the State Affairs Commission, the State Merited Chorus and major art troupes.

The performance that started with the Patriotic Song was divided into two parts.

Put on the stage of the first part were hymns for Kim Jong Il including mixed duet and male chorus "Shine, Jong Il Peak."

The performers sang highly of the undying feats performed by the peerless patriot who was born as the Shining Star of Mt. Paektu with the spring warmth of February and recorded the noble history of making total dedication to the people in the long course covered by the Juche revolution.

Listening to the hymns conjuring deep memories, the audience looked back on the noble revolutionary career of Kim Jong Il who laid a firm foundation for building a powerful socialist country with his self-sacrificing dedication beyond imagination with a pledge to glorify the country of the great sun all over the world.

Whenever the beaming image of Kim Jong Il was shown on the background screen of the stage, the audience showed their immense self-confidence and pride of having made revolution led by the great man born of heaven, the great leader, with loud applause.

The first part ended with mixed chorus and male chorus "Snowstorm over Jong Il Peak" and female trio and male pangchang "A Dear Name". It reminded the audience of how worthwhile honor of life they had when they covered the long journey of the revolution by following Kim Jong Il.

Put on the stage of the second part that started with song "There Are People by the Marshal" were hymns our people heartily sing in reverence for the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un who is confidently leading our own-style socialism to a new victory in the noble idea of believing in people as in Heaven, single-minded unity and self-reliance associated with the lifetime intention of Kim Jong Il.

The theatre was overflowing with emotion amid a series of songs showing the faith of the people to uphold and follow the General Secretary as the sun of their destiny as he is opening up the new era of our state-first principle and cultivating the great flower garden on the people-first principle while making energetic efforts for the prosperity of our socialist state, the greatest patriotic legacy bequeathed by Kim Jong Il.

The performance demonstrated the iron will of our people to surely win a great victory in the all-people grand march for implementing the decisions made at the 8th Congress of the Party while fluttering high the flag of the Juche-oriented Party, rallied closer around the General Secretary. It ended with mixed chorus and male chorus "Fly High, Our Party Flag" and female solo and mixed chorus "People Are of a Single Mind".

The paean "A Dear Name", a beloved song of our people to eulogize their great glory and happiness of upholding Kim Jong Il, resounded throughout the theatre again as encored by the General Secretary, revving up the atmosphere.

The General Secretary expressed great satisfaction over the successful performance which made excellent artistic depiction of the strong longings of the people for Kim Jong Il and their firm pledge to remain true to the guidance of the Party Central Committee.

A floral basket in the name of the WPK Central Committee was conveyed to the performers amid the enthusiastic applause.

The members of the Party central leadership organ hardened their pledge of loyalty to dedicate their all to and devotedly strive for successfully implementing the grandiose fighting programme of our Party, while looking up to the General Secretary repeatedly bestowing great loving care and warmly encouraging them so that they could deeply cherish their heavy yet honorable mission and responsibility before the Party, revolution and people and fulfill their duty and role as the organizer and standard-bearer in the struggle for implementing the decisions made at the Party congress. -0-
