DPRK, a great country highlighted with Juche idea
Greenwich represents the UK and the Tower of the Juche Idea symbolises the DPRK.
Greenwich is the centre indicating longitude and latitude and a focal point of world time, whereas the Tower of the Juche Idea is a radiant beam lightening the way for the times and mankind. I have visited both places.
Humanity aspiring after truth and justice are looking up to the Tower of the Juche Idea, the banner of the advance and a compass for independent development.
I, who have regarded the DPRK as my second motherland in the course of following the Juche idea, have always enshrined the torch of the Tower of the Juche Idea in Pyongyang in my heart.
Undying idea with eternal vitality
There are many philosophers who authored rationalism and treatises about Human Nature, philosophical thoughts and political economy in the UK, the cradle of the Industrial Revolution,
In the early 1980s, I studied their books to some extent. When I was a history student of the University of Winchester and as a youthful member of the Communist Party of Great Britain, I avidly read the booklet "About Marxism".
I found nothing new while reading the books and failed to discover the cause of the destruction of capitalism.
At this juncture, I was honored to have read On the Juche Idea written by Chairman Kim Jong Il.
The work was translated into many different languages and seminars were held in different countries.
The work is a masterpiece.
Every chapters, sections and titles are unique, compositions are definite and the seed and themes are fresh at the sight of the subtitles.
The work has excellent passages, perfect philosophical principles and is written to be well understood.
Man is the master of the world and of his own destiny and he plays the decisive role in transforming the world and in shaping his destiny.
The Juche idea sheds a new light on the foundation of the world outlook by uniquely defining the domination of the world by man who is the highest-developed product in the material world.
The world outlook based on the philosophical principle of Juche is a world outlook which is centred on man.
The will and fighting power of people demonstrated in the revolutionary movement are also determined by their ideological consciousness.
His work, which consists of profound philosophical elucidation of the law of social progress and principles of revolutionary struggle and gem-like propositions, made a new impression on me.
His work injected great vitality into the youth like me who have groped for justice and truth and a great declaration casting light on the path ahead of the popular masses aspiring after the building of a new country.
His work, which is utterly different from what the books on philosophy I read in the past, enthralled me.
Enchanted by Chairman Kim Jong Il’s ideo-theoretical wisdom and literary talent, I have studied many works authored by him and have had faith in the Juche idea.
I deeply grasped the Juche idea is the great one when I studied its essence, validity and vitality.
What touches the strings of my heart is that the Juche idea constitutes the highest peak in the history of ideology of mankind and the greatest essence in the history of philosophy.
Immortality of an ideology lies in invincibility. It is the destiny of the ideology that if it is not preserved it would be futile.
The history of the Juche idea tells that the idea is an immortal one as long as humanity exists.
90 years have passed since President Kim Il Sung fathered the Juche idea in June 1930.
Guided by the Juche idea, the history of the DPRK has witnessed defeat of Japanese and US imperialism and achieved signal victories in building the country.
It remained unfazed in the global political upheavals when socialist countries in eastern European countries collapsed in succession in the 1990s.
At that time, the Soviet Union and other socialist countries in Eastern Europe collapsed one after another and red flags were pulled down in these countries. Political parties and progressive people in the world were at a loss what to do.
However, the banner of Juche was fluttering without interruption.
The torch of the Tower of Juche Idea was lighting up and it was displaying invincibility of the Juche idea and indestructibility of independence.
Looking up to the tower, I am deeply impressed by the Juche idea which is flawless in terms of the times and universality and gripping the hearts of the world's people with attraction. I am convinced that its truthfulness will never fade no matter what happens in the world and the Juche idea would remain unperturbed under any storm and stress.
Now the Juche idea has become the main trend of thought of the age and is attracting minds of the world's people. The membership of adherents is on the increase.
The study groups for the Juche idea have been formed across the world since the 1960s.
I formed a Juche Idea Study Group with my friends in the 1980s , also progressive academics formed a Juche Idea Study Group and a Juche Idea Study Group of Scotland was formed last year attracting attention.
Seminars or meetings on the Juche idea have been held throughout the world.
In last year alone, the European regional seminar( which I attended) on the Juche idea under the title of “Independence, Sovereignty and International Cooperation”, the Asian regional seminar on the Juche idea under the title of “Self-reliance, a Guarantee for Sovereignty and Global Peace”, the Mexican national seminar on the Juche idea under the title of “Struggle for Global Independence and Peace”, the Russian national seminar on the Juche idea under the title of “Patriotism and Self-reliance” in Saint Petersburg and Nordic regional online seminar on the Juche idea under the title of “Scientific Accuracy and Truthfulness on Theory of Juche Socialism ” in Sweden were held.
At the seminars, they highly spoke of Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un is a great master of idea and theory and prominent political leader of the era of independence who formulated the revolutionary ideologies of President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il as Kimilsungism-Kimjongilism and has held fast to it as a guiding banner of the era of independence.
The British Group for the Study of the Juche Idea holds meetings or online event with titles of “Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un and development of Juche idea” and “Juche idea and the DPRK” periodically and is highly studious about the Juche idea.
Now the British progressive figures highly eulogize Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un of the DPRK a statesman who stands in the spotlight of the international community, a glamorous and the most influential leader.
There is a saying in Europe that an ideology conquers the universe.
When the saying hints me, the greatness of the Juche idea, which captivates the world people with its truth, profoundness, invincibility, eternity and attractive power, is deeply engraved in my mind.
A flower garden of human love
I got the real meaning of the above-said saying during my visit to the DPRK more than ten times.
The reality of the DPRK with embodiment of the Juche idea is always marvelous.
Now the DPRK writes a new history of prosperity for the people, regarding the people as the heaven and putting forward the people as the master. I mentioned it through a video titled Confessions of a Foreigner broadcast by the Central TV of the DPRK last year.
The DPRK is the country that regards the people as the most important being.
What is most impressive is the systems of free medical services and free education.
The Okryu Children’s Hospital is a super-luxurious one.
What attracted my attention is that the hospital is well furnished studying rooms, amusement park and resting rooms for the children.
I have never seen such a hospital for the children in the UK and different parts of the world.
The hospital provides treatment for the children free of charge.
The difference between the medical service of the capitalist countries and the DPRK is great.
The top-class anti-epidemic measures taken by the DPRK is a clear manifestation of the superiority of the free medical system of the DPRK that regards the people as the most important being and prevention as a lifeline.
The Minister of Health, Matt Hancock and Boris Johnson, Prime Minister of the UK received medical attention after being tested for COVID-19. The UK and Europe have suffered from fear and uneasiness with the rapid spread and death toll of the pandemic.
My daughter returned home with empty -handed as all shops were closed. It is the universal fact in the UK.
When the western world responds to COVID-19 indolently, while boasting of its developed medical technology, the DPRK has taken top-class anti-epidemic measures, thus no cases are confirmed until now.
The news of construction of the Pyongyang General Hospital made a great impact on the world people when the world is in a state of chaos with COVID-19.
I affirm that the socialist system of the DPRK, which regards the people-first doctrine as its nature and the ideal of politics, is the most superior one in the world.
I feel admiration for the Juche-based education system associated with love for the rising generation.
People say that if you want to have an understanding of the past of a nation go to a history museum, for the present watch the streets and for the future observe the education system.
The education system of the DPRK is the course of embodying the Juche idea that regards the people as the most precious being and cultivates the people as the most powerful creative being.
Children are dubbed as the “king” in the DPRK and the country spares nothing for the education of the rising generation.
The DPRK children receive compulsory 12-year education, not knowing what "school expenses" is. They are growing up to be talents who are knowledgeable, virtuous and healthy reserves at the bases of extracurricular education such as the students and children's palaces and juvenile halls at their abilities and wishes. Children are studying to their hearts’ content at Orphanage and Pyongyang Orphans' Secondary School.
I was on a tiptoe of excitement when I visited the Kyongsang Kindergarten in October last year during my stay in Pyongyang.
The Kyongsang Kindergarten is situated at Changjon Street with modern architectural beauty. The western world calls the street “a beautiful street with curvaceousness”.
I felt as if I was on another planet when I entered the atrium of the kindergarten decorated with the jewel-studded floor and gorgeous chandeliers. It reminded me of the jewel-studded floor of the Pyongyang Maternity Hospital.
Frankly speaking, a gem is property of the rich and the privileged circle in the UK where I live.
It is really amazing that the DPRK made the jewel-studded floor for the rising generation.
Every facility including classrooms, sleeping rooms, dining rooms and wading pool are built according to education for the children and the child’s mind.
In the DPRK, everything serves for the good of the people both in name and in reality.
There are many units and well-known figures that go by the name of "people".
There are also many monumental edifices and precious assets associated with love for the people and rising generation.
The Mirim Riding Club, the People's Open-air Ice Rink, the Rungna Dolphinarium, the Masikryong Ski Resort and the Yangdok Hot Spring Cultural Recreation Center, etc.
Of course, there are similar service facilities and amusement parks in the UK and other countries.
All splendid cultural centers in the DPRK serve the working people. This is the fundamental difference between the west and the DPRK.
A conversation with the chief of a Brazilian newspaper in the UK came across my mind.
He posted tens of photos of the DPRK buildings including the Mirae Scientists Street and the Sci-Tech Complex on his website and asked the question “Which country’s building do you think?”
Thousands of respondents said they are buildings of Hong Kong, Shanghai and Macao, no one said they are buildings of the DPRK.
After he carried articles on his website that those buildings are in Pyongyang, the capital of the DPRK, and the state allowed the ordinary people the use of them. The netizens posted their articles; it is beyond their belief, it is incredible and it is astonishing that the buildings are not for designated persons.
The more I witness the reality of the DPRK, the more it is beautiful, mysterious and spellbound.
It is entirely attributable to Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un.
He formulated the Juche idea running through the whole lives of the preceding leaders as the people-first doctrine and made the DPRK as a prosperous people’s paradise under the banner of Juche.
Thanks to Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un, President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il are remembered as the sun of Juche and fathers of all people and the torch of the Tower of Juche Idea shines brilliantly.
I and members of the British Group for the Study of the Juche Idea will remain unchanged in following the Juche idea, cherishing the Juche Korea dignified by the peerless great men century after century.

Ireland has a lot to learn from DPRK, even though our "leaders" would never want to admit it. Focusing on the future generations is a lesson the whole world should follow, and to hear what DPRK does for its youth is truly inspirational.
