Pyongyang, May 18 (KCNA) -- The Central Committee of the Anti-Imperialist National Democratic Front (AINDF) made public an appeal on May 17, on the occasion of the 39th anniversary of the Kwangju Popular Uprising, according to the website Kuguk Jonson.
The appeal said that the May 18 Kwangju resistance was an eruption of the resistance and will of the south Korean people never to pardon the barbarous suppression by the pro-U.S. military dictatorship of traitor Chun Doo Hwan and an explosion of their aspiration and ardent desire to root up all sorts of injustice and deep-seated evils and live in a new world governed by justice and truth.
The appeal went on:
The indomitable spirit of the resistance fighters and their call for justice 39 years ago are still encouraging the south Korean people as an initial explosive of struggle, and their noble intention and desire, still remaining as a pending task, are calling on the people to wage a new struggle.
Two years ago, our people waged a great candle-light resistance. This impeached Park Geun Hye, a descendant of the military fascist dictatorship, and meted out stern punishment to the conservative ruling forces, shaking the whole world. It was a great deed done in the unyielding struggle for realizing the intention of the Kwangju Popular Uprising.
However, the "Liberal Korea Party" (LKP), which was ostracized in the trend of history, is making desperate efforts to bring back the past dark era, making a mockery of the souls of participants in the Kwangju uprising.
The reckless act of the evil-doing conservative forces is nothing but a revelation of their black-hearted intention to turn this land into a tundra of democracy, civil rights and public welfare and a theatre of confrontation between fellow countrymen through a bloody revenge by realizing the wild ambition for retaking power at any cost.
History and reality eloquently prove that unless the descendents of the military fascist slaughterers and the evil-doing conservative forces are eliminated, the noble desire of participants in the Kwangju uprising will never come true and the south Korean people will be deprived of their gains in the candle-light resistance, which would be led to the second Kwangju massacre.
The prevailing situation is urgently calling on all the people to turn out in the all-out struggle to eliminate the evil-doing conservative forces.
Let us all turn out in the struggle for eliminating LKP, the enemy of democratization stamping out democracy and civil rights, in the spirit of the May resistance and the candle-light resistance!
Let the people from all walks of life mete out severe punishment to LKP, the party of traitors, seeing through the deceptive nature of the LKP's crafty farce for "a long march for people's livelihood".
The appeal called upon each party and each faction and people from all walks of life to intensify the solidarity and unity in the struggle for eliminating LKP and make a joint effort to do so, transcending differences in political view, religious belief and ism.
The appeal called for never pardoning but decisively smashing the anti-national moves of LKP clamoring for sanctions and pressure on the fellow countrymen and resumption of military drills with foreign forces.
It called on all the people to get united in order to eliminate the evil-doing conservative forces and realize the desire of the resistance fighters for independence, democracy and reunification without fail. -0-
