The Democratic People's Republic of Korea is supporting Venezulea and is standing by Venezuela in its hour of need . The progressive , socialist orientated regime of President Nicholas Maduro has come under attack from the US and its puppets . Venezulea has faced massive US sanctions just like the DPRK as well destabilisation efforts plus economic sabotage by the local bourgeoisie and compradors. Recently , a reactionary called Gauido proclaimed himself as President of Venezuela despite not being a candidate in the election .The US , EU and and other reactionary countries recognised this usurper as the president of Venezuela in an attempt to overthrow the progressive government of President Maduro and set up a puppet regime .
On the 3rd of February the DPRK Foreign Ministry issued a statement which said "Any attempt by outside forces to remove a president legitimately elected according to the constitution of a sovereign state is an undisguised interference in internal affairs and a wanton violation of international law.
It is our firm stand that Venezuelan issues should be resolved in a peaceful way in accordance with the independent will and decision of the government and people of Venezuela.
Peoples of the whole world aspiring to justice and peace will ever stand by the government and people of Venezuela for safeguarding their sovereignty and stability. ".
The statement of the DPRK Foreign Ministry on Venezuela is deeply significant as it affirms the DPRK 's support for the legitimate government of Venezuela headed by Nicholas Maduro at a time when destablisation and regime change efforts are running wild . The DPRK headed by respected Marshal KIM JONG UN has extended the hand of friendship and support to Venezuela when it needs in the most .The old adage ' a friend in need is a friend indeed ' comes to mind.
In November 2018 comrade Kim Yong Nam chairman of the Presidium of the Supreme People'Assembly of the DPRK visited Venezuela from the 28th to the 30th . He visited the tomb of
Hugo Chavez the founder of the Bolivarian revolution and held high level talks with Nicholas
Maduro . The report of the talks state d that 'Kim Yong Nam said that the relations between the DPRK and Venezuela are developing into the ones of true and close friends and firm comrades, adding that the struggle of the Venezuelan people for independence against imperialism, for peace against war and for socialism will dynamically advance.
The Venezuelan president sincerely wished Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un good health, and hoped that he would victoriously guide the Korean people. He also expressed belief that the friendly and cooperative relations between the two countries would develop with stronger vitality in the future, too"
An agreement was signed to open a Venezuelan embassy in Pyongyang .
The DPRK has always supported the Bolivarian revolution right from the start back in 1998 . Before in the 1960s the DPRK expressed support for the struggles of the Venezuelan people against the pro-imperialist reactionary puppet regime that existed in Venezuela at the time .
The DPRK and Venezuela are brothers in arms fighting against imperialism for independence and socialism.
