Principle of School Construction

Principle of School Construction

The DPR of Korea introduced universal 12-year compulsory education system in April Juche 103(2014).
It enables all children to study to their hearts’ content under a well-knit education network covering the whole country.
This country has its own principle in school construction that can hardly been found in other countries, a principle of setting up schools where there are pupils.
The principle was instituted by President Kim Il Sung and has been carried forward brilliantly. One day in the mid-1940s Kim Il Sung was asked by an education official if a school should be set up in the place where there are only 10 or 20 pupils. He said in the past pupils had gone to school to study, but now the state should establish the principle of teaching wherever there are pupils.
While visiting Yangdok County in September Juche 36(1947), he took a measure to set up a branch school for the pupils in the remote area who had to travel a long way to attend school.
That was how the first branch school was set up in this country. Today there are one thousand and several hundred branch schools across the country from remote mountainous regions to small islets on the sea.
Branch schools with less than 10 pupils number over 100 and those with less than 20 pupils over 500.
Even in the mid-1990s when the country was undergoing difficulties there were set up branch schools for only a few pupils.
The branch school on Suun islet in Sinuiju city has a teacher for a pupil. A foreigner on a visit to the DPR of Korea was surprised to see a map of Korea covered with a close network of education, saying: “The world has not this kind of country of education.
The most developed countries have not set up schools evenly in the whole area, in every rural village, remote mountainous region and islet village, not to speak of a city.”
Schools are set up in all places where there are pupils and teachers go to pupils.
This is the reality of the DPR of Korea that calls the children Kings of the country.
The great tradition of love for posterity and the future is carried forward more brilliantly by Marshal Kim Jong Un.
