Great Career

Leader Kim Jong Il’s life was a career of great revolutionary who devoted his all on a road of tour guidance for the country and the people.
With the conception “The people are my God” as his motto, he spared nothing for the people and embroidered all his life with utmost loving care for the people.
During his whole life he visited at least 14 290 units across the country, covering 669 844 km, nearly 17 rounds of the globe.
In the whole period of his Songun revolutionary leadership from April 25, 1960 he gave his field guidance to a total of over 12 790 units, traveling 629 992 km.
From the day when the Arduous March started in January, 1995 till the last moment of his life Kim Jong Il went on a forced march with a patriotic devotion, covering 353 576 km.
The last three years of his life represented a review of the popular and heroic life of the peerless patriot unprecedented in history.
Between 2009 and 2011 the number of reports of his revolutionary activities reached nearly 480. It means that he gave field inspection or guidance across the country every two or three days over the last three years.
Similar reports increased in the new century from a little over 100 times on the average to nearly 160 in 2009.
Over the last three years he visited nearly 1 000 units.
In less than 100 days from early January in 2009 he visited 4 times more units than in the same period of the previous year, covering several thousand kilometers across the country.
Foreign mass media vied with each other in reporting of the explosive increase of the reports of his revolutionary activities in three years.
Media of Russia, Japan and other countries reported the number of leader   Kim Jong Il’s on-the-spot guidance and participation in different kinds of events reached a record of 159 in 2009.
Reporting of his watching a New Year concert of the Unhasu Orchestra on December 31, 2010, they said “it made the reports of General Secretary           Kim Jong Il’s revolutionary activities in 2010 number 161, the highest ever”.
Similar reports amounted to 160 in 2011 alone.
He traveled all places of the country from January in the coldest weather ever in 60 years and the rainy season to December, the closing month.
He went to a modern glass bottle factory for his first field guidance in the New Year and, in the last days of his life he visited the Hana Music Information Center, a comprehensive art information base and the Kwangbok Area Supermarket.
In December alone his revolutionary activities were reported on nearly 10 occasions and on the evening of December 16, the last days of his life too, he was on a running train, thinking of fish to be supplied to people.
Despite bitter cold he set out on a road of field guidance again, but to our greatest regret, he passed away on a train due to mental and physical overwork.
At the sad news of his demise a total of over 260 million officers and service persons of the People’s Army, working people of all strata and school youths and children expressed their deep condolences.
