The ASSPUK, JISGE and UK KFA today issued a statement on the occasion of the40th anniversary of the Socialist Constitution of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea .
The Socialist Constitution of the DPRK is a unique Juche-orientated constitution unknown in the world as not only defines the character of the state and rights and duties of citizens but is also programmatic. It gives a sound legal framework for the building of socialism in the DPRK . It was authored and drafted by the great leader President Kim Il Sung and adopted by the Supreme People's Assembly of the DPRK on the 27th of December 1972. Its promulgation legally reflected that the DPRK had come to have an advanced socialist system with no exploitation or oppression.
Article 2 stipulates that the DPRK is a revolutionary state and article 3 states that the DPRK is guided by the Juche Idea and Songun idea. Article 4 says that the sovereignty of the DPRK rests with the workers,peasants,working intellectuals and all other working people. The Socialist Constitution of the DPRK fully defines the DPRK is an independent Juche-orientated state.
Unlike bourgeois states deputies to the Supreme Peoples Assembly(the highest
law-making body) are accountable to the people and can be recalled if they lose the trust of the people Article 7. This is a contrast to the capitalist countries where elected representatives are out of touch with the people and just rake in huge salaries and expenses for doing nothing.
The people of the DPRK are guaranteed independence and creativity. They have legal rights unknown in capitalist countries,the right to work Article 70 ,right to relaxation article 71 right to free medical care article 72,right to education article 73. At present in the capitalist countries there are many unemployed and also people starving. Under the provisions of the DPRK Socialist Constitution(Article 25) taxation has been abolished and the material wealth used for improving the living standards of the people.
Article 66 sets the voting age at 17 which is one of lowest in the world and gives anyone the equal right to elect and be elected without discrimination due toproperty status and other factors. Elections in the DPRK are direct with no
electoral colleges nor an unelected second chamber.
Article 67 guarantees the freedom of speech . Article 79 guarntees the inviolability of the person and privacy of correspondence. In the capitalist countries widespread survelliance and interception of communications is practised widely .
The rights of citizens in the DPRK increase with the consolidation and development of the Juche-based socialist system.
Thus the Socialist Constitution of the DPRK is a most superior constitution that gives people rights that are unheard of capitalist countries and provides a firm legal underpin for further socialist advance in the DPRK. It is a great inspiration to the peoples of the world fighting for independence and socialism.
Today under the Songun revolutionary leadership of dear respected Marshal Kim Jong Un the Korean people are achieving further success in the implementation of the provisions of the Socialist Constitution.
