DPRK socialist and egalitarian

An article below from KCNA proves the egalitarian nature of the DPRK . Senior civil servants and ministers doing "Friday labour" in some cases actually shifting loads of manure. This is the tradition of the DPRK and it is underpinned by laws and party rules.

January 6 (KCNA) -- Officials of ministries and national institutions in the DPRK did the first Friday-labor of the year on cooperative farm fields.

Officials from the Ministry of Mining Industry, the Ministry of Light Industry and other units carried much quality manure on trucks to the Wonro Vegetable Farm in Mangyongdae District.

They did carrying and spreading of manure with agricultural workers.

Officials of the Cabinet Secretariat, Ministry of Foreign Trade, General Bureau for Service for People and other ministries and national institutions did work on the Rihyon Vegetable Co-op Farm in Sadong District. While working they recalled the devoted efforts made by leader Kim Jong Il who had ceaselessly walked rough fields to provide the people with more affluent life.

Officials of the State Planning Commission, Ministry of Land and Marine Transport, Ministry of Post and Telecommunications, Ministry of Finance and Daesong Bank did work on the Namsa Vegetable Co-op Farm in Raknang District. Their devoted efforts encouraged its agricultural workers in doing farm preparations for this year.

That day more than 1 600 tonnes of good manure were carried to fields and lots of farm implements and materials to farms. -0
