Earlier this year in June the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) or People’s Korea opened its Wonsan-Kalma resort on the east coast of the DPRK . The resort was opened with a splendid ceremony on the 24th of June . The first visitors to the resort are not wealthy privileged tourists but ordinary Korean workers who get to use the resort free of charge ! This is an illustration of the unique people-first policies of respected Marshal KIM JONG UN .
The resort has 4 kilometres of white sandy beaches .It has many hotels and a water park . It can accommodate 20,000 people .DPRK workers can stay there free of charge as the state and their workplaces pay for the costs of their holiday . In the UK according to the website Booking.com the cost per night of a family holiday in the east coast resort of Great Yarmouth is £89 per night excluding food and rail fares etc .So the cost of a 10 day holiday in Great Yarmouth would be £890 . I was personally shocked the other day to have paid £15 for a double chicken burger and chips on Boscombe seafront and £37 on the train to get there .
The media in many countries have hailed the resort as the DPRK’s own “Benidorm “ ( the famous Spanish resort ) although the DPRK itself has never made this comparison
The Wonsan-Kalma resort of the DPRK has been built under incredibly difficult conditions created by the massive sanctions and blockade of the US and its stooge states. The Wonsan -Kalma resort has been built in the spirit of self-reliance without outside help.KCNA reported that “ Thanks to the steadfast offensive spirit of the builders, more than 3 million cubic meters of bedding project, 20-odd kilometers of roadbed project, waterway project extending 15 kilometers, building of embankment along coastal promenade, the project for coastal park, readjustment of 40 hectares of sandy beach, the project for building 170 000 meters of substructure and the framework construction of hundreds of buildings were completed to newly change the appearance of Myongsasimni in less than one year.”
.
However the media of Western countries is anxious to pour cold water on this excellent socialist achievement of People’s Korea because they are jealous that they cannot build such a resort . Worse still they
The infamous “Sun “ newspaper , a far right semi pornographic comic which is actually banned in the City of Liverpool “ carried an article on the 16th of August “Truth behind North Korea’s Benidorm resort exposed with ‘slave brigades’ working 21-hour days & women sexually assaulted” written by Kate Davis the chief foreign editor of the “Sun “ and veteran anti-DPRK hack Michael Havis who heads something called the “Pen News Agency “ , which looks mysterious.
Of course neither Davis or Havis actually went to the DPRK . Their article is just a second -hand rehash of an article from the notorious “Daily NK “ a south Korean based far right website funded by the US “National Endowment For Democracy” and the US government “. The “Daily NK “ has achieved notoriety for publishing false stories about the DPRK . Even the south Korean puppet “Ministry of Unification “ criticised “The Daily NK “ in 2010 saying that the "flood of raw, unconfirmed reports" from organizations including Daily NK "complicates efforts to understand the North.” The “Daily NK” does not have reporters or correspondents in the DPRK although they claim they do . In reality the stories of the “Daily NK “ are simply what they imagine to be happening in the DPRK or to put it another way are simply made up fairy tales .
As to the rehashed allegations in the “Sun “ newspaper by Davis and Havis we can comment as follows ; firstly slavery is illegal in the DPRK . As far back as 1946 slave labour was abolished by the Labour Law of the Provisional People’s Committee of North Korea . The present “Socialist Labour Law “ of the DPRK that was enacted in 1978 states that “ Labour under socialism is the independence of workers who have been liberated and is creative labour. In the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, the workers shall work with conscious enthusiasm and creative power for the nation’s prosperity, the well-being of the people, and for their own well-being.”.
It is nonsense to say that people worked 21 hours a day to complete the project . In the DPRK the working day is limited to 8 hours by law . Article 16 of the “Socialist Labour Law “ of the DPRK clearly states that “ The daily working hours of workers is 8 hours.”.The irony here is that south Korea , the so-called “liberal human rights paradise “ of south Korea ( in reality a fascist dictatorship ) which is worshipped by the likes of Davis and Havis , actually lengthened its maximum working day to 21.5 hours in 2024 . What the “Daily NK “ and the “Sun” newspaper have done is to actually project the reality of south Korea onto the DPRK , turning black into white !
As for “sexual assaults “ women in the DPRK are protected by different women rights legalisation . Moreover the DPRK has no pornography or sex industry so a wholesome and safe environment for women exists in the DPRK .
The “Sun “ article is a pack of lies which aims at denigrating and slandering what is a great achievement of People’s Korea . Thanks to the great people-centred socialist system of the DPRK workers can go on holiday free of charge at top-class holiday resorts which workers in Britain could only dream of going to .
