Running counter to peace

Of late, the south Korean military conducted joint exercises with the US in the air and on the sea to spark off great concern within and without.

They launched “Pacific Thunder” joint rescue drill for ten days started from March 18 with involvement of fighters, early-warning planes, reconnaissance planes, helicopters and various types of military planes.

Patrol ships of the US coast guard staged a joint search drill to supervise “ship-to-ship transfer” in the waters off Cheju Island.

Dialogue is incompatible with war games. Peace is inconsistent with military hostility.

“It has aggressive and provocative nature as it is aiming at armed invasion against the DPRK, though the south Korean military is advertising it as single-handed military exercise and reduction. It is a mockery of the fellow countrymen desirous of peace and prosperity in the Korean Peninsula as they outwardly call for dialogue and peace but inwardly stage war games against the same brethren,” a professor of Cheonnam National University censured. He added that the war games against the same brethren should be halted at once.

The joint military exercises with foreign forces, which constitute the source of aggravating the situation on the Korean Peninsula, should no longer be permitted and the introduction of war equipment including strategic assets from outside should completely be suspended.
