Sanctions and Pressure on DPRK Are War Acts: KCNA Commentary

Pyongyang, October 9 (KCNA) -- Sophism describing the U.S. frantic sanctions and pressure on the DPRK that have reached the extremes as "peaceful and diplomatic" solution is widespread in the international arena.

The state and defense secretaries, the national security adviser of the White House, the ambassador to the UN and other U.S. government authorities are justifying the U.S. anti-DPRK sanctions and pressure as peaceful and diplomatic actions, while claiming before the international community that "the diplomatic solution to the nuclear issue of the DPRK is a goal" and "sanctions and pressure are the best option for peaceful solution".

This is the height of Yankee-style impudence and sheer sophism.

As universally recognized, the "sanctions resolutions" against the DPRK which the U.S. imperialists and their followers cooked up in succession by abusing the UN are a hideous economic terrorist act which totally blockaded levers directly linked with the people's livelihood, to say nothing of external economic relations of the country.

The U.S. ferocious unilateral sanctions moves aimed at ordinary economic and trade activities of companies of other countries having dealings with the DPRK and its pressure to cut off diplomatic relations with the DPRK have aroused serious concern and rebuff of the international community.

The political and economic sanctions and pressure moves aimed to totally stamp out the sovereignty and the rights to existence and development of a sovereign state are little short of an act of military aggression and war as they are the execution of the barbarous and unethical DPRK policy pursued by the U.S. chief executive crying out for total destruction of the DPRK.

The London Treaty on definition of aggression and the UN General Assembly resolution 3314 and a series of international treaties and resolutions clearly stipulate it as an act of aggression and a breach of international law to encroach upon the sovereignty and the economic independence of other countries and to take steps of putting economic pressure for threatening the basic economic line of a country and to mount economic blockade against other countries.

The description of the racket of sanctions against the DPRK as "peaceful and diplomatic solution" is a deception to cover up their illegal act tantamount to a war crime and lead other countries to "cooperation" and an open mockery of the international community.

Senior researcher of Oxford University Tom in an article contributed to homepage of the institute for U.S. policy studies on September 25 said that one can not but be skeptical about the existence of anything like diplomacy in U.S. administration, stressing there are nothing more than Trump's repeated bluff like "fire and fury" and "total destruction" and Haley's frantic and ear-rending threat at the UN Security Council.

The U.S. vicious attempt to blockade the DPRK in all directions, strangle the economy of the country, destroy the people's livelihood and force the DPRK to disarm itself and put the country under its control with the nuclear weapons can never be realized.

The DPRK has in its possession everything it can including nuclear weapons. It will be a serious miscalculation to think that the DPRK will just remain cross-armed in the face of the increasing threat of aggression and war and sanctions and pressure moves of the U.S. and the hostile forces.

The moves for putting sanctions and pressure on the DPRK will only arouse the Korean people into action and harden their strong will to settle accounts with the U.S. to put an end to the centuries-old confrontation with it.

The nuclear force of the DPRK for self-defence built with much effort will keep to the path of justice to defend the sovereignty and the rights to existence and development of the country. -0-
