Rodong Sinmun Calls for Defending National Security and Peace

Pyongyang, January 11 (KCNA) -- In order to give a strong impetus to the victorious forward movement of the national reunification in the present grave situation, it is important to make positive efforts to defend national security and peace, says Rodong Sinmun Saturday in an article.
For defending the homeland in which the Korean nation should live for all ages and reunifying the country and achieving national prosperity, it is necessary to remove the danger of a war from the Korean peninsula as soon as possible and achieve a durable peace, the article notes, and goes on:
The U.S. and the south Korean authorities aligning with it are escalating confrontation with the DPRK and resorting to war moves against it. Their heinous moves are the main factor of hurting the national security and destroying peace on the Korean Peninsula.
The U.S. has remained unchanged in its hostile policy towards the DPRK and it is becoming more reckless with each passing day.
The extremely tense situation is ascribable to the south Korean warmongers' military confrontation racket against compatriots as a shock brigade for carrying out foreign forces' strategy for aggression.
The U.S. and the south Korean authorities should abandon their reckless attempt at aggression against the DPRK and stop arms buildup and joint military drills escalating tension and creating the danger of war.
Anybody who is concerned about the destiny of the nation and wishes for peace and reunification should resolutely turn out in the actions to denounce, check and frustrate the moves of the war-thirsty forces at home and abroad who are harassing the country's peace and bringing dark clouds of a nuclear war to the nation.
All compatriots in the north, in the south and abroad should make a fresh advance in the national reunification movement this year at any cost by turning out in the nationwide struggle to defend national security and peace. -0-
