Rungna Dolphinarium

A dolphinarium is in the Rungna People’s Pleasure Park in Pyongyang.
Leader Kim Jong Il in his lifetime proposed building a dolphinarium on Rungna Islet and planned to draw seawater from Nampho in the west coast of Korea to Pyongyang.
Under the wise guidance of Marshal Kim Jong Un who translates the noble intention of leader Kim Jong Il into reality the Nampho-Pyongyang seawater pipeline project was finished in a short time, with a result that seawater could flow into the Rungna Dolphinarium in Pyongyang in an inland area.
Marshal Kim Jong Un visited the Rungna People’s Pleasure Park construction site more than once and gave guidance to construct it on the highest level, saying it is a gift of the Party for the people.
The park was opened on July 25, Juche 101(2012) at a grand ceremony.
The Rungna Dolphinarium is equipped with all facilities for performance of dolphins including a two-storied viewing hall, performance water tank, 16 subsidiary water tanks, room for dissemination of scientific and technological knowledge, soft drink stand and others.
Several dolphins can give performance at once in the performance water tank of nearly 3 000 cubic meters.
In the viewing room with a thousand and several hundred seats the spectators feel as if they were seeing dolphins jumping up from the sea.
The dolphinarium is equipped with different kinds of pumps for filtering seawater, Ozone generator for disinfecting water, albumin separator for disposing of dolphins’ excreta, air conditioner, cooler and other latest facilities.
The interior is also unique.
While passing the corridor of the second floor and the ceiling of the exhibition hall, the visitors feel as if finding themselves deep in the sea.
Looking round the cave-type room for dissemination of scientific and technological knowledge, Marshal Kim Jong Un saw to it that the room could provide the visitors with different knowledge and information about the ecology and features of sea animals such as dolphin, shark and whale.
As a result, the dolphinarium could be built into a cultural center that not only shows the skills of dolphins, but gives a common knowledge about different sea animals to people.
Many Pyongyang citizens and foreigners visit the dolphinarium every day.
Foreign visitors say:
In capitalist society only the rich can see such a performance, but in Korea the working people enjoy such a civilization. It is really surprising.
Only Korea provides such an opportunity in the world.”
They envied the Korean people enjoying the happy cultural life under the leadership of Marshal Kim Jong Un.
