The meeting began 1-30pm. The immortal revolutionary hymn "Song of General Kim Jong Il " was played to start the meeting.
Chairman of the JISGE and president of the ASSPUK opened the meeting. He said that today is the 71st anniversary of the birth of the great leader comrade Kim Jong Il. This is also the first meeting organised by a Juche Idea Study Group since the Nuclear Test conducted on the 12th of February (members of the audience broke into stormy applause). The chairman then read out a presentation on the revolutionary activities of the great leader comrade Kim Jong Il he said(excerpts)
"Today February 16th
is the 71st anniversary of the birth of the great leader comrade Kim
Jong Il the sun of Songun . It is rightfully celebrated as the day of
the Shining Star by the Korean people and the progressive and
revolutionary peoples of the entire world. Today when the Democratic
People's Republic of Korea faces unprecedented threats from US and
world imperialism it becomes ever more important for Juche idea and
Songun idea followers to uphold this occasion. Marking the birth
anniversary of the great leader comrade Kim Jong Il is an act of
positive solidarity with the DPRK in its struggle against US
imperialism .
Today the DPRK is one of the few countries in the
world that it is not a member of the IMF, World Bank or World Trade
Organisation . It does not have a foreign owned or privately owned
central bank . Moreover it does not have any foreign troops stationed on
its soil and does not take orders from other countries , as has been
demonstrated recently. This is the proud legacy of leader Kim Jong Il
and why we uphold his birth anniversary.
The great leader comrade Kim Jong Il was born the son
of guerrillas on snows-wept Mt Paektu during the anti-Japanese war .
As a young boy he witnessed the the barbarous action of the US
imperialists during the Fatherland Liberation War of the early 1950s.
The great leader comrade Kim Jong Il resolved to fight imperialism to
the very end as well as to treasure even a single blade of grass in
the country and to make Korea mighty and prosperous. His successor
dear
respected Marshal Kim Jong Un wrote of him
“The General was a peerless
patriot; he loved his country and fellow people more ardently than
anybody else, and devoted his whole life to achieving the prosperity
of the country and the happiness of the people, thus performing
imperishable exploits that are etched in the history of the country.”
The great leader comrade Kim Jong Il not only held
high the red flag of socialism showing determined resilience whilst
defending the DPRK's sovereignty by the dint of Songun politics but
he also led the people in the struggle to build a thriving socialist
country and a people's paradise. He was always on the road of on-the
spot guidance mixing with the people.
We remember the great leader comrade Kim Jong Il on
the occasion of the anniversary of his birth for manifold and
excellent ideological and theoretical achievements as well his role
as a great people's leader and constructor of socialism.
Today the Korean people under the guidance of the
dear respected Marshal Kim Jong Un hold the great leader comrade Kim
Jong Il in high esteem as they complete the Juche revolutionary
cause. Under Marshal Kim Jong Un the Korean people will advance along
the road of independence, Songun and socialism charted by the great
leaders comrades Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il and win final victory.
"
The
claim that socialism is “totalitarian”, “barracks-like” and
“administrative and commanding” is not in essence different from
the pernicious anti-socialist propaganda which the imperialists have
conducted since the first appearance of socialism in the world. The
imperialists have always said that socialism is an inhuman society in
which there is not freedom or democracy. The terms “totalitarian”,
“barracks-like” and “administrative and commanding” are a
repetition of the imperialists’ false propaganda against socialism
that uses new words."
The speaker said that the slander about totalitarianism was first made by the
reactionary Karl Popper . He also said that the USSR had
collapsed due to revisionism which started . This work of the great
leader comrade Kim Jong Il exposes revisionism and opportunism. Moreover despite the challenges posed by
the intensification of the moves of the imperialists to stifle Korean
style socialism the DPRK held firm. During the period of the "arduous
march " in the DPRK not one hospital or school closed down (stormy
applause from audience). That although the work was written 20 years ago it had stood the test of time.
A member of the audience said that he had read the "Abuses of Socialism Are Intolerable" and it is a very good work which everyone should read.
The president of the ASSPUK spoke about the DPRK's nuclear test and US imperialism's unceasing provocations and pressure against the DPRK. He said that the nuclear test was a just self-defensive measure. Since the Soviet Union first launched Sputnik 1 years ago 9000 satellites have been launched . None of them were discussed by the UN Security Council and none of them resulted in sanctions.
A member of the audience said that the imperialist media admit that sanctions against the DPRK are useless. The chairman pointed out that the DPRK 's economy grew at a fast rate of nearly 40% in the 1950s when it was under conditions of near total economic blockade by the West. The DPRK's independent national economy makes it invincible.
Many useful suggestions were made to actively expand and develop solidarity with the DPRK including new creative ways. the secretary general of the JISGE stressed the need for a more vigorous expose of the south Korean puppet regime . He said it is a big violator of human rights and labour rights. The chairman of the JISGE said pro reunification patriot Mr Ro Su Hui had been jailed for 4 years and we must campaign for his release. A member of the audience said that we should never lose sight of the sacred goal of reunification.
2 messages to the dear respected leader Marshal Kim Jong Un were adopted.
Literature from the DPRK was on show and also a picture exhibition. Militant anti-imperialist music from the DPRK such as "Peace is On Our Bayonets ", "Death to the US imperialists " and "Korea is One " was played. Refreshments including tea and coffee, sandwiches, sausage rolls and biscuits were served.
