                   The  Association for the Study of Songun Politics and the Juche Idea Study Group of England today issued the following joint statement on the 45th anniversary of the capture of the USS "Pueblo" by the navy of the Korean People's Army commanded by the great leader Generalissimo Kim Il Sung

            The USS Pueblo was an armed spy ship that had intruded deep into DPRK territorial waters just off the east coast port of Wonsan and was captured fair and square by a naval unit of the Korean People's Army on the 23rd of January 1968. A small vessel of the KPA Navy with a few sailors was able to overpower the 80+strong crew of the "Pueblo" dispatching one of them and capturing the rest .Today the USS Pueblo is moored on  the banks of the River Taedong  a true rarity , the only US navy ship that is in the hands of another country. It is a floating monument to the stupidity of the bellicose US imperialists.
 
The US imperialists knowing no shame arrogantly and brazenly demanded the DPRK return the ship and threatened to attack the DPRK. It is now known that the US in fact planned a nuclear attack on the DPRK . However the DPRK under the Songun revolutionary leadership of the great leader comrade Kim Il Sung stood firm. Speaking to the KPA officers and men he said
"The intrusion of the armed spy ship Pueblo into our territorial waters was rank piracy, a flagrant encroachment upon the rights of a sovereign state and a link in chain of premeditated U.S imperialist manoeuvrings aimed at unleashing a new war in Korea .
                    If the US imperialists persist in their attempt to solve the matter by mobilizing their armed forces to threaten and blackmail us, they will get nothing out of it, if they do get anything it will only be corpses and death.
                   We do not want war, but we are not afraid of it. Our people and People's Army will retaliate for the 'retaliation 'of the US imperialists, return all-out war for all-out war. The US imperialist must surely be aware that , if they aggravate the situation and take the road of war despite our warnings they will suffer an even heavier defeat next time"

This fully encapsulated the revolutionary and militant anti-imperialist stand of Songun.
             The modern revisionists, the agents of the US imperialists, chimed in with the pressure of the US imperialists advising the DPRK to hand the ship back with its crew. The DPRK adhering to the Juche stand rejected this capitulationist nonsense and  stood rock- firm and refused to hand back the ship. The crew were freed once the US imperialists had given a written apology for their actions and assurances that it would not happen again. This was a great victory for the DPRK and dealt a strong blow to aggressive US imperialism. It greatly encouraged the revolutionary peoples of the world in their struggle against US imperialism. It showed that people could take on US imperialism and win.
                The capture of the USS Pueblo was a great example of the anti-imperialist Songun revolutionary leadership in action.
