The Korean Friendship Association of the UK(KFA UK ) and the British Group for the Study of the Juche Idea held an online meeting on 15.01.2024 ,at 1830 hours via Skype , to discuss the historic 9th Plenum of the 8th Central Committee of the Workers Party of Korea and the statement titled “New Year message to the president of the Republic of Korea” of vice -department director comrade Kim Yo Jong . Attending the meeting were members of KFA UK and the British Group for the Study of the Juche Idea from London , West of England , Staffordshire , Wales and Yorkshire . The meeting was joined also by KFA Germany , KFA Andalusia (Spain ), the Juche Idea Study Group of Valencia and the People’s Korea Initiative of Poland .
Opening the meeting Dr Dermot Hudson Chairman of KFA UK and Chairman of the British Group for the Study of the Juche Idea said “ I think it is very important to hold this online meeting because , firstly because , there the decisions and deliberations of the 9th Plenum of the 8th Central Committee of the Workers Party of Korea are of great importance because they chart the path towards the future”
Comrade Alan Bolon KFA UK Organisation Secretary and head of KFA UK West of England in his contribution explained that “Attention was paid to the comprehensive development of social housing construction and reference was made to the proud successes achieved in the field of culture, including: science, education, public health and sports.
The proceedings of the Central Committee were prepared in a highly socialised manner, with widespread direct participation of basic party organizations. The discussion on all issues raised by the C.C. of the WPK resulted in many valuable opinions, conclusions and proposals for improving the party's work. It has proven how huge, not always fully exploited, potential has WPK in their members. “
Dr Hudson in his contribution said at the 9th plenum startling results in socialist construction in the DPRK were made . Now the DPRK’s economy is growing faster than that of south Korea and the UK .
Addressing the issue of inter-Korean relations Dr Hudson praised the correct stand of the WPK and DPRK . He pointed that past south Korean puppet regimes had tried to restore capitalism in the DPRK saying that “Worse still such regimes tried to use inter-Korean exchange and dialogue as a means to infiltrate capitalism into the DPRK and restore capitalism .It is indeed fortuitous that the DPRK nationalised the Kaesong Industrial Park once south Korea pulled out of it .”
In conclusion Dr Hudson said “To conclude, the 9th Plenum of the Central Committee of the Workers Party of Korea has laid down the correct lines and policies for the coming year and for the victory of socialism and communism . May we see the flag of the DPRK again fluttering over Seoul !”

Referring to the statement titled” New Year message to the president of the Republic of Korea “ of comrade Kim Yo Jong vice department director of the Central Committee of the Workers party said Dr Hudson said that the statement provided an absolutely correct analysis of the situation and amplified the decisions of the 9th Plenum of the Central Committee of the Workers Party of Korea.
A resolution was adopted and also a letter to respected Marshal KIM JONG UN .
A short documentary clip of rallies in support of the plenum was shown and also the music video “ Let Us Uphold the Red Flag “.
