Dear Comrades,
First of all, I would like to greet the comrades of the International Central Committee for Songun Study. Your institute is currently the great international reference for the study and promotion of Songun Politics and the revolutionary doctrine of Kimilsunism-Kimjongilism. For us, from the Juche Idea Study Center of Brazil, it is a great honor to have the opportunity to submit a paper to be presented in this seminar.
This seminar is held for a very special occasion, which is to celebrate with emotion and enthusiasm the 80th anniversary of the birth of the Leader Kim Jong Il. Comrade Kim Jong Il was the great Leader who inherited and continued the Juche revolutionary cause started by President Kim Il Sung, and raised it to new heights within a context marked by great difficulties. As we know, the Leader Kim Jong Il was not only always a faithful and loyal follower of President Kim Il Sung's revolutionary ideas, but also made great contributions to the understanding and comprehension of the ideas created by the Leader.
In magnificent works such as "On the Juche Idea", "The Juche Philosophy is a new and original philosophy" and "On Correctly Undestanding the originality of Kimilsungism", Kim Jong Il systematized in a masterly way the theoretical and philosophical principles of the immortal Juche Idea, undoing a series of misunderstandings and clarifying important problems that arose in the process of
investigation and understanding of the Juche Idea. The Juche Idea, a revolutionary philosophy which emerged in a new historical epoch, provides the popular masses with the theoretical and strategic instruments to successfully develop the struggle of the popular masses for their independence at the international level. Being a communist idea centered in man, the Juche Idea has as its historical mission to promote the independence and complete emancipation of human beings all over the planet.
After the fall of the Soviet Union and the Eastern European countries, which were destroyed thanks to the corrosive activity of revisionism, the leader Kim Jong Il took the initiative in defending the revolutionary principles of socialism, defending its historical validity and inevitability against the decaying capitalist system. The defeat of socialism was a temporary defeat, a product of the lack of a correct understanding and development of revolutionary theory for the stage of the construction of socialism. Kim Jong Il staunchly defended the advanced character of Korean socialism, socialism centered on the masses of the people, stressing the importance that socialism is a social regime of the masses and for the masses. Without serving the fundamental interests and demands of the people, without elevating the leading role of the masses of the people, it is impossible to continue the revolutionary cause of socialism.
Leader Kim Jong Il, aware that the construction of socialism is a fierce class struggle against imperialism and other enemies, has always attached great importance, following in the footsteps of President Kim Il Sung, to military affairs. The construction of national defense and of defensive instruments to safeguard national sovereignty and the continuity of socialism have always been the object of great attention by the analyses and reflections of Kim Jong Il's leadership. The Songun Policy, a policy that gives primacy to military affairs during socialist construction, is precisely the correct policy that guarantees the preservation of peace and of the victories obtained by the long and bloody revolutionary struggle undertaken by the Korean people. The current victories obtained by the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, crystalline evidence of the correctness of such theses.

I end my words by once again sending my warmest greetings to the comrades of the International Central Committee for Songun Study. I hope that our initiatives for the study and dissemination of the Juche idea and Songun Politics will continue to grow and gather more and more supporters.
