We celebrate the Day of the Shining Star , the 80th birth anniversary of the birth of the great leader comrade KIM JONG IL , because he was indeed the Shining star , a man of great accomplishments and achievements whose achievements shine brightly . It is hard in a single essay or article to detail the achievements of comrade KIM JONG IL as they are vast and span not only decades but many different fields of knowledge and endeavour such as ideology , theory , art , literature , culture and many others . As the 40th anniversary of the publication of the famous work ‘ ON THE JUCHE IDEA ‘ approaches (on the 31st of March 2022) I will focus on comrade KIM JONG IL ‘s work in developing and systematising the Juche Idea .
As is well known, the great Juche Idea was authored by the great leader President KIM IL SUNG on the smoke-filled battlefields of the anti-Japanese war . The Juche Idea is the guiding idea of the Korean revolution and People’s Korea . It is now studied by people all over the world including Britain .
At an early age comrade KIM JONG IL studied the Juche idea and also worked hard to defend the Juche idea from the attempts of factionalists , revisionists , counter-revolutionaries and flunkeys and agents of big powers . When he was a school student, comrade KIM JONG IL organised a group to study the biography of President KIM IL SUNG . He fiercely denounced those followers of the factionalists .
Comrade KIM JONG IL joined the Workers’ Party of Korea(WPK ) on the 22nd of July 1961 whilst still at university . On the 19th of June 1964 he began working at the Central Committee of the WPK .
In the 1970s comrade KIM JONG IL set about the tasks of developing the Juche idea in depth , in systematising it and in applying it to society. In February 1974 comrade KIM JONG IL put forward the programme of modelling the whole society on the Juche idea .This was a most bold , revolutionary and dynamic concept , quite unique . In April 1974 comrade KIM JONG IL published the work ‘ ON SOME QUESTIONS IN UNDERSTANDING THE JUCHE PHILOSOPHY’ in which he looked at the philosophical angle of the Juche Idea . This theme was to be developed in comrade KIM JONG IL’s celebrated and famous treatise ‘ ON THE JUCHE IDEA ‘ , which was sent to the National Seminar in March 1982 to mark the 70th anniversary of the birth of the great leader President KIM IL SUNG .In this work for the first time in the history of philosophy , comrade KIM JONG Il defined the nature and essence of man. He said that man is a being , with independence,creativity and consciousness. These three factors form an integral whole. He taught that Juche proves that man is the master of the world, he said
"The Juche idea shows a new viewpoint and attitude to the world, on the basis of man′s position and role as master of the world.
The viewpoint and attitude to the world shown by the Juche idea are those with which the world is approached by focusing on man, the master of the world.
Taking a man-centred attitude towards the world means approaching the world from the viewpoint of interests of man, the master of the world."
This work demonstrates the true philosophical genius of the great leader comrade KIM JONG IL .
The work "ON THE JUCHE IDEA " brilliantly expounded the superiority of the Juche idea. It showed that it overcame limitations of preceding theories such as determinism and over-emphasis on material and economic factors. At the same time it soundly crushed revisionist and opportunist theories which preached giving up revolution and weakened (and eventually frustrated) the building of socialism.
The work "ON THE JUCHE IDEA " shines brightly as a brilliant manifesto for total human liberation in all fields. It gives correct answers for those building socialism, correct answers for those overcoming imperialist oppression building new independent societies , correct answers for those struggling for independence against imperialism and correct answers for those fighting against capitalist oppression and exploitation.
There is no doubt that comrade KIM JONG IL’s work in developing and systematising theJuche idea became a great material force propelling the Korean revolution forward and the building of socialism in People’s Korea . It was thanks to the Juche idea that the DPRK was able to uphold socialism when socialism collapsed in some countries . Today’s People’s Korea of Juche which does not have a single Covid 19 and gives its people free education , free health care , virtually free housing and low cost. We salute the work done by the great leader comrade KIM JONG IL in developing the Juche idea .
