What really is Juche ?- in answer to the Daily Mirror- by Dr Dermot Hudson Chairman Juche Idea Study of England

                               

The tabloid right wing social democratic 'Daily Mirror'  dismissed Juche as ' Juche is the North’s ruling ideology that mixes Marxism and an extreme form of go-it-alone nationalism'. Of course it is
good that the Mirror is at least talking about Juche because in some quarters there is a deafening silence about Juche . However the 'Mirror ' has presented a very crude, distorted explanation of Juche
 that is effectively a caricature. It is basically the falsification of the Juche Idea.
   'Go it alone nationalism ' ??? Nowhere in the Juche idea or in any of the writings of the great leader President KIM IL SUNG , Chairman KIM JONG IL and  Marshal KIM JONG UN or in any DPRK policy document does it say ' we must go it alone  !'

Juche of course stresses independence , Juche recognises that independence is the life and soul of humans but this is not the same as saying  that a country should 'go it alone'. What Juche means is that a country should be totally independent , politically independent and reject subordination to others and dependence on others. This does not mean co-operation with others is rejected or that the
Juche idea means turning one's back on internationalism , far from it . Guided by the Juche idea , the  DPRK has always been internationalist , it has supported revolutionary and anti-imperialist struggles in many countries such as Vietnam , Cuba, Angola and others .
     Juche does mean rejecting unjust interference and domination by others. In the past the DPRK guided by Juche took the road of building an independent national economy when the big power chauvinists and revisionists of the USSR tried to subordinate the DPRK economy Today the DPRK has developed nukes and ICBMs to defend its independence. Now the US imperialists , Japanese imperialists and south Korean puppet fascist reactionaries are opposed to the DPRK developing nukes and ICBMS, why because the US and Japan want to smash the socialist system of the DPRK and make the northern part of Korea into a colony. Joining hands with the US imperialists  are the big power chauvinists , the sell-out states and renegades who dismantled socialism in their own countries , who do not want a strong and independent power in the DPRK but want a weak country that dominate and control. The DPRK is 'not going it alone' but has the support of the revolutionary
peoples of the world .Communist and Workers parties of many lands, Juche Idea and Songun Idea
study groups, the 17,000 strong worldwide Korean Friendship Association and other DPRK solidarity organisations .It is actually the US imperialists who are trying to isolate the DPRK by imposing sanctions and forcing other countries to cut diplomatic relations with the DPRK.
                                                       

 
   So to return to the question posed  provoked by the Daily Mirror  , what really is Juche ? Well basically the Juche Idea is the idea that the people are the masters of the revolution and construction .
It stipulates that humans are the masters of their destiny and have the power to carve it . Juche , therefore, rejects all kinds of superstitious and fatalistic notions about the fate of humans either being predetermined or controlled by an unseen mysterious deity existing outside time and space.
   The Juche Idea was  authored by the great leader of the Korean people , President KIM IL SUNG who first outlined the Juche Idea at the historic Kalun meeting of young Korean revolutionaries in
June 1930. It was systematised and further developed by Chairman KIM JONG IL who wrote  the classic treatise  ON THE JUCHE IDEA in 1982.
    Juche defines humans are social beings with independence , creativity and consciousness. The most important thing is to develop the independence and creativity of people during all stages ofthe revolution and construction . The key thing is to take the independent stand in the revolution , this
means establishing Juche in ideology, independence in politics , self-sufficiency in the economy
and self-reliance in national defence .
 Today the  DPRK led by respected Marshal KIM JONG UN , stand imposingly as a country of Juche , a state of independence , self-sufficiency and self-defence . Because of self-reliance and self-development , the imperialist sanctions will fail and the DPRK will march to final victory . It would be a great thing if many countries broke with imperialism and took the road to Juche !
  Thus Juche is a great philosophy of independence . Juche combines both the national and international duties of the working class, it is not 'go it alone nationalism'. Juche has captured the imagination of the world revolutionary people , over a 1000 Juche Idea Study Groups exist in the world.
  As the late Dr Vishwanwath director general of the International Institute of the Juche Idea said
