FM Slams Israel's Military Attack on Freedom Flotilla

Pyongyang, June 3 (KCNA) -- A spokesman for the DPRK Foreign Ministry gave the following answer to the question raised by KCNA on Thursday as regards the military attack mounted by Israel on the flotilla of humanitarian aid boats heading for Palestine:

On May 31 the Israeli navy mounted an indiscriminate attack on a flotilla of boats for humanitarian aid to inhabitants in Gaza of Palestine by mobilizing three warships, armed helicopters and hundreds of commandoes in the international waters of the Mediterranean. It mercilessly killed or wounded dozens of civilians aboard the boats. The whole flotilla made up of six boats and at least 700 Palestinian solidarity activists was seized and taken to a port of Israel.

The recent incident was a crime against humanity perpetrated at the U.S. connivance and under its patronage and a blatant challenge to the Arabs including Palestinians and the Mideast peace process.

The U.S., which is hell-bent on increasing the international pressure and tightening sanctions against the DPRK by fabricating the case of "Cheonan" warship, is feigning ignorance of the inhuman military action of Israel. This alone makes clear what is the U.S. policy standard on world peace and security.

The DPRK vehemently denounces the above-said brigandish acts of Israel and expresses full support and solidarity with the cause of the Palestinians and other Arab people.
