South Korean People's Struggle against US and War

Continuing in the New Year, too, is the south Korean people's struggle in protest against the madcap aggressive war drills against the north by the US

and south Korean war maniacs and their moves to tighten the aggression alliance to bring about the dark clouds of invasion on the Korean Peninsula.

The People for Peace and Reunification held the 97th peace and disarmament rally in front of the building of the Ministry of Defense on January 26

and denounced the reckless moves of the US and south Korean warmongers to strengthen their aggression alliance.

A written protest read out at the rally noted that the US and south Korean authorities held the 24th “security policy initiative conference” to work out a “defense guideline” the kernel of which is ensuring the US reinforcements in contingency of the Korean Peninsula and the guarantee of conditions for stable stationing of the US occupation forces in south Korea.

The protest asserted that the “OPlan 5012” with the scenario of mounting a preemptive precision strike by the US naval and air forces simultaneously with the attack by the large ground forces of the south Korean army, was worked out as a north-targeted war plan in place of the “OPlan 5027”, full participation of south Korea in the “Security Proliferation Initiative”, and the “preemptive strike” remarked by the defense minister, prove well their aggressive war intention.

The protest demanded stop at once the rash moves aimed at strengthening the alliance relationship with the US.

Prior to this, peace and reunification movement organizations in south Korea held the 246th Friday rally against the US and war and for the withdrawal of the US troops on January 22 in front of the US embassy in Seoul.

A resolution read out at the rally claimed that the US is accountable for the tension of the Korean Peninsula and the aggravated showdown, and it should admit it and take measures to replace the Armistice Agreement with a peace treaty as early as possible.

It also demanded the US lift the sanctions on the DPRK and roll back its hostile policy towards the latter, not clinging to the persistence on “nuclear dismantlement first”.

The resolution stressed that the different circles of south Korea will actively conduct the struggle for peace and reunification by making joint efforts.

The US and south Korean authorities should drop their anti-north confrontation moves and opt for improving the relationship with it without delay in conformity with the desire and demand of the south Korean people and the world peace-loving people for durable peace and stability of the Korean Peninsula.
