World opinion on sinking of a south Korean warship

World opinion on sinking of a south Korean warship

1

The international community throws a great doubt on the results of the sinking of south Korean patrol ship “Cheonan” fabricated by the Lee Myung-bak administration.

A commentary on May 20 and 25 from Hong Kong TV, China

There is a good chance of fabricating the results of the sinking of the warship by someone. It causes several doubts that the wreckage of torpedo was founded at the last stage in the waters of the case where the water is less than meters and the south Korean patrol warship failed to read the identity of a north Korea’s mini submarine. Had the results of the case prove a pure fabrication, it would be surely plotted by the US. Because the US, that is scheduled to transfer wartime operational control to south Korea in 2012, wants to find an excuse for consolidation of the military alliance with south Korea to station its troops in south Korea. It also wants to find a pretext to solve controversial US military base in Okinawa, Japan by the end of May this year.

To this end, Washington and Seoul may have concocted the self-made farce for their political purpose. The case they fabricated would be boomerang on them soon or later.

An interview with a Russian expert in submarine with a Chinese paper on May 22

The investigation results released by south Korea is untrustworthy. The south Korean sailors are fools if they failed to find out the enemy’s submarine or torpedo approaching their warship. To be sure, the case is quite mysterious.

A commentary on May 24 from a Russian Internet News Land

The result issued by south Korea lacks credibility. The US and south Korean navy would find a north Korean submarine in a moment as anti-submarine drill was underway in the waters where the warship sunk. At that time, there were warships equipped with expensive Aegis system. Then why north Korea sank the south Korean warship rather than warships equipped with Aegis system or nuclear-powered submarines? Washington made public a statement which read north Korea is involved in the case as soon as the warship sunk.

A Russian news on May 24

Many south Koreans have doubt about the results of investigation that worsen the tension on the Korean Peninsula. The south Korean publications pay attention to characters “1” meaning “No. 1” written in marking ink on the remains of torpedo and north Korea prefers “” rather than “.

According to the result of investigation, a north Korean submarine had infiltrated into the waters of south Korea before two or three days the case occurred. It is quite dubious that how the north Korean submarine infiltrated into the waters when the joint military exercise was conducted with involvement of the US warships equipped with early detection of the enemy infiltration.

If it is true, the joint defense of so-called powerful military alliance is powerless before a submarine.

A Russian radio on May 25

The investigation team has no legal international status and the formation of the team by south Korea should come to light. The objectivity of investigation is on the lips of south Koreans. Analysts asserted that there were many questionable issues including a sign on the torpedo remain.

A Russian paper on May 26

Even a member of the international investigation team failed to participate in salvaging the remains of the warship. The evidence produced by south Korea is quite unbelievable.

A remark of a colonel from the General staff of Russian Navy carried on a Russian paper on May 26.

The Russian navy regards the case borders upon a puerile farce. For example, the inscription on the surface of the wreckage of torpedo is utterly incongruous to the DPRK navy. It proves all the evidences are fabricated in haste.

The case is contrivances of those who try to deceive the international community.

Washington is a skillful producer in this field. It is necessary to recollect that the US hoodwinked the UN with false information when it broke out the war in Iraq. The case has a strong feeling that it is a production of Washington’s crafty design.

An interview of head of the International Economy & International Relations Institution of Korea Studies with Itar-Tass, Russia

The present situation on the Korean Peninsula is characterized by total fabrication of the south Korean authorities. The south Korean authorities made the sink of the warship the motive of conflict, in other words, an overt excuse of a declaration of war.

The fact that the south Korean warship was sunken by north Korea’s torpedo proves ineffective. It is far way to go to draw a correct conclusion about the case. However, the south Korean authorities tries to send the case to the UN Security Council, while launching false propaganda campaign.

The US threw support to south Korea as it is a conspiratorial farce according to a scenario.

These actions are pregnant with sinister political aim to strangle and isolate north Korea by imposing a new sanction.

A vice spokesperson for the Russian Foreign Ministry

Moscow would not transmit the case to the UNSC before obtaining evidence that the DPRK involved in the sinking of the south Korean warship and would not approve refer of the case to the UNSC.

Konstantin Asmolov, senior researcher at the Center for Korean Studies of the Far Eastern Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences, expressed strong doubts about the south Korean authorities’ assertion concerning the case of the warship sinking, when interviewed by a correspondent of Moskovskii Komsomolets, according to NTV of Russia on May 31.

The “conclusion” made by the south Korean side is arousing very strong distrust among people in south Korea and other parts of the world.

Both Russia and China do not believe the “conclusion” at all.

There are a lot of doubts about the “conclusion” as “evidence” and facts do not match the circumstances fabricated by the south Korean side.

For example, why did the case claim the lives of seamen only, without taking the life of a single officer?

Why wasn’t there anyone who had his eardrum split or fractured among the victims? This is the general phenomenon which can be observed when a warship is hit by a torpedo.

What is marked on the propelling body of the torpedo was written with a felt-tip pen in the writing style common in the south, not in the “north Korean writing style.” Why?

The Russian Internet News Ruskiye Novosti on June 1 reported that a US torpedo sank the south Korean warship “Cheonan” by quoting a reconnaissance source of the Pacific Fleet of Russia under the title “US trace left on north Korea’s torpedo.”

It went on :

The groundless evidence produced by the investigation team is triggering strong criticism.

To begin with, why the US allies were included in the investigation team only while such important countries as Russia and China were not allowed to participate in and the proposal for dispatching an inspection group of the DPRK was turned down without any clear reason.

After all, the investigation team willfully interpreted the torpedo wreckage.

It is also doubtful that the torpedo was heavily rusted though it exploded in March.

It is quite strange that a submarine of the DPRK tactfully disappeared, keeping itself away from anti-submarine crafts of the US and south Korea including the warship Cheonan equipped with underwater sound detectors, satellite monitoring systems and under water detector, which took part in the joint maneuvers in those days.

It was hardly understandable, too, that they had kept silent for nearly two months since the outbreak of the incident, the possibility of explosion due to an accident aboard the warship or a mine was ignored and all officers survived the case.

What is worse is the fact that south Korea launched a hysteric racket while vociferating about “punishment” and “retaliation,” far from clarifying its assertion and evidence more clear after the publication of the investigation results, gradually made a step back by uttering “apology” and “punishment of those responsible” and is now making such provocation as declaring its will to set up loudspeakers only to make the DPRK threaten to preempt its firing at south Korea in a bid to brand it as an “aggressor.”

The reconnaissance source of the Pacific fleet of Russia claimed that it is true that Cheonan was sunken by a torpedo but it was not done by “a torpedo of north Korea” but a special torpedo launched by the US latest nuclear-powered submarine with the help of a small underwater device.

The acute tension on the Korean Peninsula is not beneficial to both the north and the south of Korea but beneficial to the US only.

The US is attempting to establish a worldwide nuclear arms control system on the plea of nuclear disarmament.

Now that the US is struck in Iraq and Afghanistan, it seeks to borrow “other’s hands” by changing its tactics. In other words, the US seeks to pressurize south Korea to shoulder the burden of stifling the DPRK in a bid to “preserve its image.” It was also the calculation of the US that it could put China in an award position and separate the DPRK and China.

On the same day the Indonesian paper Kompas in an article titled “Was Cheonan sunken by north Korea’s torpedo or torpedo of US forces?” said that the warship’s sinking is still a riddle.

The south Korea-US joint military maneuvers were at their height in the waters where the warship was sunken.

Accordingly, the security was firmly guaranteed and the warship was also involved in those military maneuvers.

It is nonsensical for warship of south Korea and the US involved in the military maneuvers to claim they were unaware of the sinking of Cheonan.

There is also possibility that Cheonan might be sunken by a US submarine.

It is necessary to remind that a US nuclear-powered submarine involved in the joint military maneuvers was on a secret combat duty in the waters near Paekryong Islet on the day the case occurred.

Fidel Castro Ruz, leader of the Cuban revolution, in an article titled “the Empire and the Lie” contributed to the June 4 issue of Granma expressed his view on the sinking of warship Cheonan of the south Korean navy.

North Korea is blamed for sinking a south Korean patrol warship. I have lack of materials to judge, but I am sure that China would put a veto on the UNSC resolution on sanctions against north Korea, he wrote.

Saying the veil is dispelled by truth, he introduced data from Venezuelan TV 10:30 PM on June 1.

“The sources suspect that the attack on warship Cheonan was a false flag operation plotted by the US to make others believe the attack was done by north Korea.”

“One of the US main purposes of escalating tension on the Korean Peninsula was to put pressure on Japanese Prime Minister Hatoyama to make him change his policy on the US forces base. Hatoyama has admitted that tension over the sinking of the Cheonan had a significant influence on his decision to allow the US marine to stay in Okinawa.”

“Cheonan designed for anti-submarine defense had been equipped with underwater sound detectors. Moreover, Cheonan was conducting operation activity in the sea with long-distance underwater detectors and submarine sound detectors. Its underwater sound detectors and sound receivers failed to find out any submarine in the water area. The water area was calm as vessels are seldom afloat when Cheonan was sunk.”

“However, there is a military information base in Paekryong Islet as well as a special unit of the US navy. As the Cheonan was sunk, there were four ships of the US Navy in the water area which participated in the US-south Korea exercise Foal Eagle. The investigation into the metal and chemical traces of the suspicious torpedo shows that they are German-made one.”

“The presence of the USS Salvor, one of the ships taking part in the Foal Eagle, also close to the Paekryong Islet during the sinking of the south Korean warship raises doubt, too.”

“Linking with specific doubts rose from role of Salvor, China harbors suspicion whether the US navy involved in the sinking of the warship.”

The specific doubts are:

1. Salvor was planting sea mines. In other words, it was planting anti-submarine mines that explode horizontally from the bottom of the sea.

2. Salvor is regularly examining and keeping the sea mines at the bed of the sea.

3. A frogman attached a magnetic mine to Cheonan as part of secret plan to influence the public opinion of south Korea, Japan and China.

Fidel stressed:

In the final analysis, the US could do too easily such a big job, the operation to eliminate the coalition government of Hatoyama but it is paying a very dear price for what it has done. The price are first, it irritated the feelings of allied countries of south Korea, second, it emphasized leader Kim Jong Il’s remarkable ability and alacrity. Third, it enhanced China’s appearance.

The political leaders and the world public opinion have proof of the cynicism and absolute lack of scruples that characterize the United States’ imperial policy.

The US paper Boston Herald and AP commented the sinking of the south Korean warship as follows:

The allegation about north Korea’s assault on the south Korean warship contains some suspicions.

The US-south Korean joint military rehearsal was underway at the time when the warship sank. It is quite strange how the south Korean warship backed by the US was sunken by a north Korean torpedo.

It is questionable that the US made public in detail the materials on their military exercise after the sinking of the warship, moreover, only 46 south Korean sailors were killed.

After the incident, the south Korean military authorities sent a warship to search the area immediately after the warship sinking, however, no warship was dispatched to the water area. A US official stated that the case of sinking is not a matter to deal in the international arena.

A Swedish daily described the case of sinking of the south Korean warship under the title “Hidden intention of anti-DPRK fuss.”

The US and south Korean authorities, in the early time, ruled out the possibility of torpedo assault and suddenly laid the blame at the door of north Korea.

It is a nasty trick of the south Korean ruling force to take a favorable position in the local elections through campaign against north Korea. It is also sinister aim of the US to maintain its military presence in south Korea and Japan by aggravating the tension on the Korean Peninsula.

The fact that the warship sank in their area of water cast doubts to the theory on “north Korea’s involvement in the case.”

The fact that the key parts of torpedo that sank the warship remain intact raises doubts.

Facts show clearly why the south Korean authorities do not to receive an inspection team of the DPRK National Defense Commission.

The US and south Korea’s campaign against north Korea is a part of the imperialists’ hackneyed method of igniting a war.

The south Korean authorities should accept the NDC inspection team of the DPRK without delay to probe into the truth of the case and admit their sin of driving the situation of the Korean Peninsula to the brink of war.

Sergei Ivanov, a Russian vice premier, told at an interview with the Itar Tass that Russia has no clear evidence of north Korea’s involvement in the sinking of Cheonan took place in the West Sea of Korea.

Some nations asserted that north Korea sank the patrol warship, however, Moscow is not sure of it.

The Japanese Asia-Pacific newspaper posted an article on the Internet titled “Who sank Cheonan” on May 24.

The US is in fear of having hegemony taken away in settling the issue of the Korean Peninsula following transfer of the “right to command of the wartime operations” to south Korea in 2012.

The US munitions enterprises do not want to lose the US supremacy over East Asia with the withdrawal of the US forces in south Korea but seek to create favorable atmosphere for launching a new war in Korea by taking the advantage of the case of Cheonan.

The recent farce, by all accounts, is aimed to deteriorate the inter-Korean relations and keep the US armed forces in south Korea for an indefinite period.

The Russian History Prospect Fund in commentaries posted on the Internet on May 31 and June 1 made concrete analysis and estimation of the falsity of “material evidence” presented by the south Korean authorities and impossibility of the “torpedo attack by the north Korean submarine.”

The French Internet paper Asia Times in its commentary on June 2 noted that the aim sought by Lee Myung-bak through the case of Cheonan sinking was to win “perfect partnership” with the US and use the UN Security council as a platform for discussing the Korean issue instead of the six-way talks. It also sought to use the case for arousing public interest in his government ahead of the mayoral and gubernatorial elections and, furthermore, create security crisis and thus secure a pretext of arms buildup and boost “strategic alliance” with the US.

On June 1, the Russian Internet news Pravaya quoting a US journalist said that the case of Cheonan sinking was a sheer charade fabricated by the United States.
