Firstly I salute the 40th anniversary of the foundation of the European Regional Society for the Study of the Juche Idea (ERSSJI).
The ERSSJI has upheld the Juche idea in difficult and complex conditions in Europe . In the past two or three decades we have seen an intensification of the hostile propaganda against People’s Korea the homeland of Juche as well as hostility and discrimination against Juche idea followers . The ruling elites in Western Europe try to suppress the study of the Juche idea and deny the reality of People’s Korea .

Our British Group for the Study of the Juche Idea is proud to have participated in European Regional Seminars on the Juche Idea in 2014, 2017 ,2019 and 2024 .
The Juche idea needs to be studied deeply and disseminated more widely in Europe because it is extremely relevant to the needs of the European people and can make a great contribution to independence , peace and social development which are all vitally necessary for the peoples of Europe.
At the moment Europe lacks independence . Many European countries are members of the US controlled NATO and have US bases and troops . Many European countries are culturally enslaved by US imperialism for example the TV and cinema is dominated by poor quality American films and the streets are full of Yankee fast food chains . Economically ,Europe is controlled by supra-national organisations like the European Union , the IMF , the World Bank , the WTO and the World Economic Forum . Many European countries lack economic independence as their economies are dominated by US multi-nationals.
There is a danger of war in Europe due to the potential of the Ukraine -Russia war becoming a wider European conflict . The US and NATO have done everything to fan the conflict between Ukraine and Russia . Some European countries such as the UK have become actively involved in the conflict .
Europe is also plagued by all kinds of social problems such as unemployment , poverty , bad housing ,homelessness , drug addiction , prostitution and massive inequality .
The Juche idea authored by President KIM IL SUNG and developed in depth by Chairman KIM JONG IL teaches us that independence is intrinsic to the nature of man and shows us how to achieve independence . President KIM IL SUNG himself once stressed the need for European independence saying that “if developed capitalist countries of Europe such as France, West Germany and Britain followed the road of independence and the whole of Europe was turned independent, a new world war could be prevented ”
Although this was said back in 1981 , I think that they are very relevant to our situation today . If Europe becomes independent then we can prevent another world war .
Independence,sovereignty and most of all, self-reliance are the lifeblood of the Democratic Peoples Republic of Korea. Indeed, the Juche Idea has its guiding principles, that the independent stand must be maintained. In practice, this means to have Juche in ideology, independence in politics, self-sufficiency in the economy and self-reliance in defence. Social wealth and social relations, the means of production, exchange and distribution are firmly in the hands of the working people of the DPRK. The IMF, the World Bank and the Trans-National Corporations do not run the economy of the DPRK, MacDonald s, Coca-Cola, Warner Brothers and 20th Century Fox do not control the culture of the DPRK and NATO does not dictate the military affairs of the DPRK. Only the Korean People with their Leader and Party, is the sovereign body in the DPRK. Dear respected Marshal KIM JONG UN pledged that the DPRK will hold fast to the line of independence, Juche and socialism.
Visiting People’s Korea 20 times since 1992 I saw that by applying the Juche idea the Korean people solved the questions of social development .In People’s Korea you will not see pornography and there is no prostitution . You will not see betting shops or sex shops . There is no one begging on the streets or the trains .In People’s Korea housing is free health care and education are also free but citizens do not pay tax . Every citizen has the right to eat which is guaranteed by the supply of food at a cost next to nothing .
The Juche idea has been applied in People’s Korea to create a unique and harmonious society of single-hearted unity around the leader and the Party . Everyone is united on the basis of the Juche idea . There are no disturbances , riots or strikes in People’s Korea. In the UK we have had many riots and disturbances and even in some countries that are building socialism riots have occurred . In People’s Korea there is no reason for people to protest or stage riots because they have everything for their lives ;housing ,food ,education , the right to work and much more.
Thus the DPRK , People’s Korea of Juche , is the true beacon of socialism , a shining light guiding progressive humanity . Let us applying the great Juche idea in Europe and achieve independence , peace and social development ,
