        The British Group for the Study of the Juche Idea  and   the Korean Friendship Association of the UK(KFA UK ) )issued the following statement on the 13th anniversary of the launch of the Kwangmyongsong 3-2
                                                                     

    The launch of the Kwangmyongsong 3-2   was a great victory for the DPRK under the iron-willed Songun revolutionary leadership of the great respected leader Marshal KIM JONG UN  . It is victory for Juche science and technology and shows the superiority of the  people-centred socialist system of the DPRK and the might of the independent  national economy  based on self-reliance. The rocket was made using 100% DPRK resources, materials and labour .  It brilliantly demonstrated that Juche and self-reliance are the answer , the only way out in fact. The foundations of the independent national economy and the scientific development of the DPRK had been laid down by the great leaders comrades KIM IL SUNG and KIM JONG IL. The launch of Kwangmyongsong 3-2 t proved that the DPRK can develop its science and technology without relying on others ,by its own efforts .

                                    Despite the sanctions and blockades of the US imperialists and hostile forces the DPRK became a proud satellite launching nation . , one of 10 such countries in the world. Although the US imperialists and world imperialism tried hard to prevent the DPRK from launching a satellite ,and even went to the extremes of mobilising the marionette UN Security Council to impose punitive sanctions , the DPRK under the iron-willed Juche -basedrevolutionary leadership of dear respected Marshal Kim Jong Un succeeded in launching the Kwangmyongsong 3-2 on the morning of the 12th of December 2012.

                   We are convinced that the DPRK  will win more victories on the front  of science and technology and will build a thriving socialist nation under the wise leadership of dear respected Marshal KIM JONG UN !

     the British Group for the Study of the Juche Idea(BGSJI, the UK Korean Friendship Association(UK KFA) and the British Committee to Remember Comrade Kim Jong Il   issued a joint statement on the 14th anniversary of the passing away of the great leader leader comrade Kim Jong Il:
   On the 17th of December it will be 14 years since the great leader comrade Kim Jong Il passed away so suddenly whilst giving on the spot guidance to key economic sectors . 
    The demise of the great leader comrade Kim Jong Il was the greatest loss of the Korean people as he was the benevolent father of the Korean people. It was also the greatest loss of the world revolutionary people and the Juche Idea and Songun Idea followers of the world . Although the heart of the great leader comrade Kim Jong Il ceased to beat on December 17th 2011 ,he is alive in the hearts and minds of the Korean people and world people and his ideas live on.
   

The great leader comrade Kim Jong Il was a leader of extraordinary ability and fortitude. His accomplishments and achievements span many different fields and sectors from culture to military affairs. He was best known to the world people as the great defender of socialism and independence and the leader who developed the Juche idea and Songun idea. Indeed the name of comrade Kim Jong Il is intimately bound up with the administration of Songun politics.
   

 The great leader comrade Kim Jong Il led the Korean revolution for a period of more than five decades which began with his guidance to the Seoul Ryu Kyong Su no 105th tank division of the Korean People's Army on the 25th of August 1960 . Under the leadership of comrade Kim Jong Il the DPRK became a mighty power of ideology and politics and also a socialist military power possessing its own powerful war deterrent which made the imperialists shake with fear.
 

Comrade Kim Jong Il was the loyal and faithful successor to the great leader generalissimo Kim Il Sung. He was the standard bearer of the Juche revolutionary cause which had been pioneered by the great leader generalissimo Kim Il Sung the eternal president of the DPRK .He ensured that the WPK became the party of the great leader comrade Kim Il Sung defending the monolithic unity of the Workers' Party of Korea, smashing the attempts of modern revisionists, opportunists ,factionalists and great power chauvinists to defile the revolutionary constancy of Juche. When the imperialist reactionaries and renegades of socialism sneered at socialism , demanding that the DPRK "open up" and "reform" he declared "Expect No Change from Me !.

Comrade Kim Jong Il defended and developed the purity of the Juche Idea . He systematised and enriched the Juche idea in his historic 1982 thesis "On the Juche Idea ". This work constitutes an almanac of the Juche idea which clarified its philosophical essence and that man has independence, consciousness and creativity. Thus the Juche idea shines out a philosophy for achieving the independence of the popular masses . The Juche idea is a powerful weapon for achieving human emancipation from all kinds of misery and oppression.

When socialism was frustrated in some countries owing to the treachery of modern revisionism  comrade Kim Jong Il energetically defended socialism and wrote brilliant works such as "Our Socialism Centred on the Popular Masses Shall Not Perish , "Abuses of Socialism are Intolerable" "Socialism Is A Science , " Giving Priority to Ideological work is essential for accomplishing socialism" and many others  provided a source of hope for the people aspiring to socialism.
 

As the  supreme commander of the Korean People's Army comrade Kim Jong Il led the work of defence up-building and continued the cause of Juche-army building pioneered by the great leader President Kim Il Sung. Stressing the importance of the anti-imperialist military front he led the DPRK to victory in the DPRK-US confrontation smiting the reactionary US imperialists by carrying out 2 nuclear tests so that the DPRK became a global nuclear power , a proud independent socialist nuclear power of Juche. Thanks to this legacy bequeathed by comrade Kim Jong Il, the DPRK could sit  down and negotiate with the USA as an equal partner.

The great leader comrade Kim Jong Il led the struggle to build up the independent national economy . He made sure that the living standards of the Korean people were improved . Under his leadership the many social benefits enjoyed by the Korean people were preserved and further enhanced. He passed away whilst on a trip of on the spot guidance, thus he was working for the people right up to the last minute. He always wore plain clothes . He was the epitome of a true people's leader who believed in making flowers bloom on a rock if it was necessary  for the people.

The great leader comrade Kim Jong Il led the cause of anti-imperialist independence throughout the world.  The Juche Idea became a powerful compass for defeating imperialism. The many works written by comrade Kim Jong Il are a guiding compass for the fighting peoples of the world. The DPRK became associated with the defence of the socialist principle , thus encouraging the world people in their struggle for socialism.
   Although twelve years have passed since comrade Kim Jong Il passed away , the vitality of his ideas shines even brighter today and his work is carried forward by his successor dear respected Marshal Kim Jong Un . People's Korea ,which was the legacy of comrade Kim Jong Il , today is prospering despite the extreme sanctions of the imperialists,

Today the Korean people under the wise leadership of the dear respected Marshal Kim Jong Un are  faithful to the ideas and cause of great comrade Kim Jong Il and are stepping the struggle for socialist construction in the revolutionary spirit of self-reliance .

Enlarged Meeting of 13th Plenary Meeting of Eighth Central Committee of WPK Convened

 

Pyongyang, December 10 (KCNA) -- The Enlarged Meeting of the 13th Plenary Meeting of the Eighth Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) was convened on Dec. 9.

Present there were members of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the C.C., the WPK, members and alternate members of the Political Bureau of the C.C., the WPK and members and alternate members of the C.C., the WPK.

Present there as observers were officials of departments of the C.C., the WPK, leading officials of ministries, national agencies and provincial-level guidance bodies, chief secretaries of the Party committees and chairpersons of the people's committees in cities and counties, leading Party and administrative officials of major industrial establishments and relevant commanding officers of the Korean People's Army.

A presidium of the plenary meeting was elected.

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un presided over the plenary meeting.

The plenary meeting approved the discussion on five agenda items including the review of the implementation of the Party and state policies and the work of the Central Inspection Commission of the Party in 2025 and the major issues related to the preparations for the Ninth Congress of the WPK and entered into the discussion on relevant agenda items. -0-

To Reap a Rich Harvest

  In the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, remarkable successes are made in the grain production and in laying a foundation for sustainable growth amid the high enthusiasm for scientific farming and the active movement for increasing crop yields in the new era of rural rejuvenation.

  The Isan Farm in Kangnam County is one of 30 best farms selected in 2024.

  The farm carried out its grain production plan 1.7 times and ranked among the 30 best farms in 2024.

  This year, too, the agricultural workers of the farm put much effort into providing soil conditions favourable for the growth of the crops from the beginning of the year on the basis of the experience gained in the last year's farming and the soil analysis of each plot.

  They secured more sources of manure and prepared self-sufficing manure of good quality and applied over 20 tons of it to every field.

  Meanwhile, they drew up a tight schedule for putting the whole course of a year's farming on a scientific basis, ranging from the selection of seeds to harvesting and threshing, and carried it out without fail.

  They levelled the seedbeds properly and sowed the correct amount of seeds per phyong by use of farm machines and implements so that the rice seedlings could grow evenly and finished the rice-transplantation qualitatively in the right time while considering the soil conditions of the paddy fields and planting exact number of hills per phyong and exact number of plants per hill according to the technical requirements of sparse planting culture.

  In addition, they cultivated the crops in a scientific way including watering, fertilization and pest control and sprayed growth promoters such as high-efficiency natural plant activator on a regular basis for high grain yields.

  It is the unanimous mind of the agricultural workers of the farm to reap a rich harvest this year, too, in the wake of last year.

 

Laying to rest the ghost of Bill Bland's "critique of the DPRK

 

The hostile critique of the DPRK by the British anti-revisionist writer Bill Bland surfaces from time to time and receives attention . Two substantial counter -arguments have been already produced;

Now we are producing a third critique of Bland

To attempt to lay the ghost of Bill Bland’s critique of the DPRK to rest  we would say the following .

In People’s Korea the transition to socialism began in 1947 under the the People’s Committee of North Korea .

In fact in the northern part of Korea by 1949 90 per cent of industry had been nationalised without compensation  and a thoroughgoing land reform carried out which confiscated any land larger than 5 hectares and restricted the rich peasant economy . Most of the industry in the northern half of Korea had actually been owned by Japanese capital and there were very few big capitalists who were actually Koreans ( was Bland was actually aware of this ) .

Comrade KIM IL SUNG and the WPK did launch a struggle against the Right capitulationists  who wanted to create a bourgeois republic with the national bourgeoisie and even pro US , pro Japanese lackeys ! . Also there was a sharp struggle against Jo Man Sik a bourgeois nationalist who was removed and expelled from positions . Ironically there are monuments to Jo Man Sik in puppet south Korea .

The DPRK was different from China which in the 1950s did have capitalist and a state capitalist sector . The DPRK which already had 90 per cent state ownership of industry rejected this line ( pro Chinese factionalists tried to oppose the socialist transformation of industry in the DPRK and copy the Chinese line ) and went for 100 per socialist ownership of industry and trade as well collectivisation , which was achieved by 1958.

Thanks to his wise leadership, the socialist transformation of both indi­vidual handicraft work and capitalist commerce and industry was complet­ed almost simultaneously with the completion of agricultural cooperativiza­tion. Consequently, the socialist transformation of the relations of produc­tion was carried out in the short period of four to five years, with the result that a most advanced people-centred Korean-style socialist system, free from exploitation and oppression, was established in the northern half of Korea. Later President KIM IL SUNG pointed out that 

“There is no need to make society capitalistic and go to the trouble of fostering the capitalists just to smash them and then build socialism, on the basis that we could not discharge the task which we should have completed in the capitalist stage. The working class in power should not revive capitalist society, but should carry out this task under the socialist system which it could not tackle in the stage of capitalist revolution, in order to build a classless society”

Arguably Bland’s views on the DPRK were based on insufficient knowledge of the DPRK and a belief in trying to prove that Albania  was the one and only socialist country in the world . Surely if Bland's views held any water the DPRK would have gone the same way as the German Democratic Republic (East Germany ) or Mongolia not to mention other socialist countries . The fact was the DPRK upheld the dictatorship of the proletariat and and class struggle under socialism .

Choe Son Hui Sends Condolatory Message to Her Russian Counterpart

 

Pyongyang, December 9 (KCNA) -- Choe Son Hui, minister of Foreign Affairs of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, sent a message of condolence to Sergei Viktorovich Lavrov, minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, on December 8 as regards the demise of Aleksandr Ivanovich Matsegora, Russian extraordinary ambassador to the DPRK.

She said in the message that Comrade Matsegora was a veteran diplomat of versatile talents and close friend of the DPRK people who made a distinguished contribution to the journey for more firmly cementing the broad avenue towards the eternal future of the bilateral relations of friendship and cooperation true to the noble intention of the top leaders of the DPRK and Russia, adding that his demise is a great loss to the peoples of the DPRK and Russia.

Noting that even though we lost a precious comrade, the name of Comrade Ambassador Matsegora who was a witness and contributor to the history of the DPRK-Russia friendly relations will be remembered forever as a noble example of diplomatic officials of the rising generations together with the history of friendship between the two countries, she sincerely hoped that the bereaved family who lost their close blood relatives and friends would recover inner peace as soon as possible. -0-

Respected Comrade Kim Jong Un Sends Condolences to Russian President and Sympathies to Russian Embassy

Pyongyang, December 9 (KCNA) -- Kim Jong Un, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and president of the State Affairs of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, sent a message of condolence to Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin, president of the Russian Federation, on December 8 as regards the demise of Aleksandr Ivanovich Matsegora, Russian extraordinary ambassador to the DPRK, on December 6, 2025.

In the message, the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un expressed deep condolences to the Russian president, the leadership of the Russian Federation and the bereaved family on behalf of the DPRK government and on his own behalf over the sudden demise of Aleksandr Ivanovich Matsegora, Russian ambassador to the DPRK.

Comrade Matsegora was a close friend and comrade of the DPRK people who devoted his whole life to the development of the DPRK-Russia friendly relations for over 30 years, he said, adding that the course in which the DPRK-Russia relations have developed into the present firm alliance is clearly associated with the devoted efforts of Comrade A. I. Matsegora who devoted his tireless passion true to the intention and will of the leaderships of the two countries.

The sudden demise of the ambassador at the present time when the development of relations between the DPRK and Russia have entered a crucial historic phase is indeed a heartrending event and a great loss not only to the Russian government and people but also to him and the DPRK people, he said.

Although Comrade Matsegora left us regrettably, his noble life devoted to the militant friendship of the DPRK and Russian peoples and to the accomplishment of their common cause will shine forever and will be always remembered by the peoples of the two countries, Kim Jong Un said, sincerely hoping that the bereaved family's pain over the loss will be removed, and that peace will settle in their minds as soon as possible.

The British Broadcasting Corporation which always claims to be impartial but isn’t , has made the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK ) or People’s Korea its chief target in a vicious and cruel propaganda war .

Recently the popular left wing German newspaper “ Junge Welt “ called  the “ British Bullshit Club . We have our own name for the BBC ; the British Brainwashing Corporation . Weiser in his article correctly pointed that BBC reporters who cover the DPRK are actually based in the south Korean capital Seoul and have no access to the DPRK !.

The BBC has taken upon itself the role of a shock brigade in the propaganda war against People’s Korea.The BBC is a state broadcaster closely linked to British imperialism and US imperialism . The BBC actually has close ties with MI6 and the CIA .Many of its overseas reporters are linked to MI6 . The BBC promotes the ideology of market totalitarianism and liberal fascism

The BBC’s lies about People’s Korea are endless and are too numerous to mention . They insult the DPRK by calling it “North Korea “ and not using the correct title .

Back in September the BBC falsely claimed that people in the DPRK were being “executed for watching foreign films “ , OMG ! No reports of executions or even trials for watching foreign films have been carried in KCNA or Rodong Sinmun (the daily newspaper of the Workers Party of Korea ) .The DPRK Criminal code does indeed have the death penalty for terrorism ,treason and certain types of murder but not for watching foreign films ! How would the authorities know anyway if someone watched a foreign film or not ?

In fact unbeknown to the braindead brainwashers of the British Brainwashing Corporation and muppet -puppets of the UN , the DPRK is actually hosting the Pyongyang International Film Festival , Guess what  they will be showing foreign films !

Earlier this year The BBC got its knickers in a twist over a DPRK I phone !!!

Shock Horror! Said  the British Brainwashing Corporation ,'we got hold  of an I phone smuggled out of north Korea ! ' ('well our handlers at MI6 actually gave it to us but we are not allowed to say that ').

The funny thing is that for years the BBC have been telling us that the BBC is "backward " and "impoverished " , yet it is producing its own modern I phones ( and actually tablets and much more)  ! . 

The BBC claim that the phone is "smuggled out of north Korea " when in fact you can walk into a shop in the DPRK and buy one !.

The BBC accuses the DPRK of censorship when in fact the DPRK is upholding correct linguistic standards as well as morals and ethics . It is nonsense to refer to a a boyfriend as a brother (there is actually more than a hint of incest about this) as south Korea does . 

The truth is that in south Korea the Korean language has degenerated under successive puppet regimes  , the DPRK is correct to keep this rubbish out of its country .

The BBC seemed shocked that if put in the word for south Korea into a DPRK phone  , it responds with the word puppet . South Korea is a puppet regime , 100 per and a 1000 per cent . It is occupied by 30,000 US troops and its economy is dominated  by foreign multi-nationals .

As for the "wealth " and "freedom " in south Korea that the BBC chunter on about , this is an illusion , a mirage . In fact south Korea has extreme inequality and is full of slums and poverty . It has a 21 hour working day . As for the so-called "freedom" , south Korea has the National Security Law which jails people for supporting the DPRK and in the past communists have been executed . Do not forget that puppet ruler Yoon declared martial law in December 2024.

Back in November 2024 KFA UK picketed the BBC and handed over a letter to the BBC Director General and also sent a copy by email . To date the BBC have never replied . The maxim “ The Innocent Wish To Speak , the Guilty wish to remain silent “ comes to mind .

Report of KFA UK Picket of the BBC 06.12 .2025

 

The Korean Friendship Association of the UK (KFA UK ) picketed the Headquarters of the BBC in Central London on the afternoon of the 6th December .Joining the picket was Dr Dermot Hudson chairman of the Korean Friendship Association of the UK as well by a politburo member of the New Communist Party and members of the progressive and anti-imperialist movement in London.

The picket received messages of greetings from KFA Cambodia , KFA Switzerland and the KFA UK Media Monitoring Unit .

KCNA Report on Rapid Development of Agriculture

Pyongyang, December 6 (KCNA) -- The Korean Central News Agency released a report on Friday, detailing the successes in consolidating the material and technical foundations of agriculture and rapidly increasing the grain production after the declaration of the programme for the rural revolution in the new era.

All the officials, Party members and other working people, who turned out in the grand campaign for creation true to the programme for the rural revolution in the new era, made remarkable progress in irrigation construction, including the completion of paddy field irrigation projects covering more than 500 000 hectares which was planned by the Workers' Party of Korea, successfully attained the annual goal according to the plan for the development of farm machines and turned over 13 500 hectares of dry fields into paddy fields, the report said, and went on:

The Party's policy on pushing ahead with rice and wheat farming by boldly changing the structure of agricultural production has been implemented. As a result, scientific farming methods and their solid foundation have been established and the experience has been gained in revitalizing wheat production and the area under wheat cultivation has been increased by more than 30 000 hectares this year alone as against last year.

Amid the hot wind of scientific farming and high-yielding emulation, many more cities, counties, farms, workteams, sub-workteams and farmers have reported bumper harvests to increase the grain production, leading to over-fulfillment of the annual state grain production plans.

The historic Fourth Plenary Meeting of the Eighth Central Committee of the WPK, which set forth the programme for the rural revolution in the new era, marked a turning point in developing the country's agriculture onto a stage of definite upswing by stepping up the rural rejuvenation and providing a milestone for victory for the rapid development of Korean-style socialist countryside.

Whenever the plenary meetings of the WPK Central Committee were convened, the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un set forth the tasks and ways for steadily increasing the agricultural production of the country and took decisive measures to enlist the entire Party, the whole country and all the people to turn out in the campaign to give full manpower and material support to the countryside.

The material and technical foundations of agriculture have been further strengthened amid the intensified drive to implement the Party's programme for the rural revolution in the new era.

A nationwide struggle was waged to repair, reinforce and further perfect the irrigation system of the country.

In 2023, the first year when irrigation construction started at full speed, irrigation projects for more than 200 000 hectares of fields were successfully completed, including the construction and capacity expansion of groundwater facilities in more than 12 000 places, the construction of over 3 000 pumping stations and the laying of over 2 400 km of pipelines.

In 2024, irrigation facilities for over 60 000 hectares of fields were renovated in the drought-stricken areas to provide a guarantee for high and safe yields despite drought and high temperature.

Officials, working people and builders across the country completed the construction or the repair of over 1 300 pumping stations, the building or the overhaul of over 1 100 irrigation structures and the repair of over 17 000 kilometers of waterways and thus completing irrigation projects for more than 160 000 hectares of paddy fields and turning over 3 300 hectares of dry fields into paddy fields this year alone.

The work to radically increase the proportion of farm work done by machines was conducted to achieve unprecedented successes in realizing the comprehensive mechanization of agriculture.

The farm machine production units which have been modernized under the care of the Party have increased production.

With the expansion of successes since the first year of implementing the programme for the rural revolution in the new era, nearly 43 000 farm machines were secured in 2023 and the varieties of farm machines increased considerably last year, too.

This year alone, the varieties of farm machines have increased to more than 50 kinds and the proportion of farm work done by machines increased by more than 2 percent over the previous year.

Officials and working people in the agricultural sector turned out as one in attaining the grain production goal set by the Party.

Agricultural guidance organs at all levels have designed and carried out farming operations and guidance according to all farming processes in a scientific way.

The scientific farming promotion team has strengthened its role to support increased grain production by dint of science and technology.

A vigorous struggle was waged in different parts of the country to expand the area under wheat cultivation and raise its productivity.

Amid the deep interest and great enthusiasm of the whole country and society for wheat farming, the area under wheat cultivation has more than doubled in the past four years.

With the structure of grain production and farming methods changing and wheat production growing rapidly, many farms produced high yields in 2023, and in 2024 the national wheat production plan was over-fulfilled by more than 140 percent and more than 100 farms produced over 6 tons of wheat per hectare.

This year, 11 farms and over 170 workteams have produced more than 8 tons of grain per hectare on an average thanks to the efforts of agricultural officials and working people to harvest high yields in the farming of early crops this year.

The state grain production plan has been over-fulfilled since 2023 thanks to the struggle of the officials and working people in the agricultural sector who have turned out in attaining the goal of grain production.

In 2024, hundreds of thousands of tons of grain were produced more across the country as against 2023 as a result of the campaign for simultaneous and balanced development of all the regions and farms.

The proportion of the introduction of nutritive cold-bed seedlings has increased considerably throughout the country and advanced farming methods have been widely applied, leading to increased grain production.

In hearty response to the Party's policy, a struggle was waged across the country to introduce the method of organic farming through fish farming.

Thanks to the great vitality of the new agricultural policy of the WPK, more than 30 high-yield cities and counties were produced this year and many other units became high-yield farms, high-yield workteams and high-yield sub-workteams.

The news of the bumper harvest and year-end account settlement and income distribution in the socialist rural areas good to live and work in along with the new era of rural rejuvenation, is adding to the pleasure of the people across the country.

The stable agricultural foundation of the country which are steadily developing day by day and the increased grain production have convinced officials and working people once again that the Party's policy is science, truth and victory and that everything will go well if they follow only the Party's policy. -0-

Respected Comrade Kim Jong Un Inspects Regional-industry Factories Nearing Inauguration

Pyongyang, December 5 (KCNA) -- This year has witnessed the proud and epochal achievements in the regional construction, which made another leap forward in ensuring modernity, economic profitability and prospect with a goal of reaching a level set higher than last year, according to the far-reaching regional development strategy of the great Workers' Party of Korea.

Kim Jong Un, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and president of the State Affairs of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, inspected regional-industry factories in several counties nearing inauguration on December 3.

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un was accompanied by Jo Yong Won and Pak Jong Chon, secretaries of the WPK Central Committee.

First, he went round the regional-industry factories in Sinyang County, South Phyongan Province.

He was greeted on the spots by the commanding officers of the army units involved in the construction, officials of design institutes, senior officials of the Party and power organs in Sinyang County and officials of the regional-industry factories.

He went round the production, cultural and welfare facilities of the foodstuff factory, garment factory and daily necessities factory in the county one by one to learn in detail about their construction and preparations for operation.

Saying that he could see the level of construction and technical equipment of the construction units has remarkably improved as compared with last year, he expressed satisfaction over the fact that lopsidedness has been definitely decreased and the level of balance and specialization increased in the whole construction process.

Noting that the evaluation of the quality of construction depends on the final construction, he indicated the orientation and ways for the construction units at all levels to radically raise the level of specialization and delicacy in the final construction.

He said that there might be difficulties as healthcare facilities, leisure complexes and others are expected to be added to regional construction projects from the coming year but the People's Army has tremendous potentiality for creditably guaranteeing the implementation of the Party's policy on regional development and will powerfully lead the regional construction revolution to a steady victory with its rich experience and heated enthusiasm for struggle.

Saying that modern regional-industry factories have been built in 40 cities and counties in less than two years since the regional-industry revolution started, he noted this represents the eye-opening regional changes. The rural construction and regional-industry construction are a gigantic revolution intended to fundamentally improve the quality of the people's living and lay the material and technical foundations for the independent development of the cities and counties, he said, underlining that we are right now passing through the most responsible and important historic period of transition.

He pointed out some deviations revealed in the construction of regional-industry factories and set forth some important tasks for operating the factories, normalizing their production and accommodating the inhabitants.

He inspected regional-industry factories in Pukchang County, South Phyongan Province.

Referring to the inconsistency in architectural and process designs in the construction of a foodstuff factory, he said that the irrational changes were made in contrast to the original design leading to the re-construction, which was attributable to the lack of proper guidance system and functional system to rectify such deviations in time.

In order to ensure high quality in construction as required by the drive for modernization and standardization and perfectly build factories as entities immediately demonstrating our style of civilization and development, it is necessary to establish a more thorough system of tripartite consultation between design, construction and management units, put construction on a scientific and integrated basis and steadily increase the proportion of dry construction in the building of industrial facilities and encourage it, he said.

Noting that the regular production and supply of various consumer goods basic and essential for the people's livelihood is the most important task in carrying out the Party's policy on regional industry, he put particular emphasis on the need to increase the number of varieties of specialties preserving the characters of regional areas and improve the quality of daily necessities.

He said that it is important for the whole Party and the state to pay attention to the development of regional economy, organize regional products shows every year and conduct significant reviews and appraisals of them so that regional-industry factories develop through competition.

Saying that the People's Army was assigned the historic task of regional changes and this is an expression of the noblest trust of the Party, the revolution, the era and the people in it, he expressed expectation and belief that the officers and men of the construction units would continue to give full play to the fighting spirit and creative mettle peculiar to the revolutionary army in the vanguard of the cause of realizing the long-cherished desire of the WPK and the wishes of the regional people.

He visited the Unsan Paper Factory newly built in Unsan County, South Phyongan Province.

He was greeted by Ri Kyong Chol, chief secretary of the South Phyongan Provincial Committee of the WPK, and officials concerned and officials of the factory.

Saying that the paper factory has been built first in Unsan County of South Phyongan Province on a trial basis according to the Party's decision on setting up the modern paper factory in all provinces capable of satisfying their own demands, he stressed that the factory is of great significance in developing the Korean-style paper-making industry and satisfying the long-term nation-wide demands.

Looking at the multipurpose paper machine, the toilet-paper machine, the one for moulding paper into paper containers and others, all of which are associated with the pioneering spirit and creation enthusiasm of the scientists, technicians and workers, he said that it is really laudable that several enterprises of South Phyongan Province and the Paper Engineering Institute of the State Academy of Sciences are taking the lead in solving one of the problems which greatly concern the Party. He noted that he is pleased that the said institute has a clear prospective goal for developing our own paper-making method and technology. He extended praise and encouragement to the scientists and technicians at the institute.

In order to meet the demand for paper badly needed for all the fields, including science, technology, education and cultural life, it is necessary to steadily develop our own paper-making method and technology based on the raw materials in the country, he said, adding that all other provinces should more thoroughly discuss and decide on the issue of building modern paper factories within the period of next five-year plan on the basis of the experience gained by South Phyongan Province in building a model factory.

The inauguration season has come to review the results of the proud one-year creation and labour campaign which will be estimated by the people, he noted, stressing that all the new regional-industry factories should make perfect preparations for their operation before their inauguration ceremonies which are due to be held in December.
