Commentary of AINDF Spokesman- on south Korea-US 'alliance '

 

Recently, the south Korea-US alliance becomes the target of criticism.

The political and public circles claim that a view toward the US should be corrected.

The south Korean media commented that the south Koreans’ pent-up discontent at the US is latent in their claim.

South Korea is reduced into modern-day colony of the US owing to the military occupation of the US.

It is the common sense that alliance between the ruler and the governed is beyond all conception.

The perfunctory alliance is a disgraceful relations forged by unilateral pressure.

The alliance serves the interests of the US, regardless of sovereignty, intention and demand of the south Koreans.  

Broad segments of south Korean people strongly assert the dismantlement of the alliance.

 The AINDF would launch an uninterrupted campaign to put an end to the military occupation of the foreign forces in south Korea and break up the south Korea-US alliance.

Sustained Confrontational Frenzy of S. Korean Conservative Forces May Invite Greater Misfortune: KCNA

Pyongyang, October 30 (KCNA) -- The Korean Central News Agency released the following report on October 29:

One month has passed since the inglorious incident in which a south Korean citizen had met a death after his illegal intrusion into the waters of the West Sea of Korea.

In the period, we informed the results of investigation into the whole course of the incident immediately to the south side, mirroring the intention of our supreme leadership in order to prevent the north-south trust and respect from further crumbling owing to the sudden inglorious unwanted incident in the waters of the West Sea of Korea. We also conveyed our regret over the incident that happened in the waters under the control of our side.

Since then we have tried our best to retrieve the dead body from the waters of the West Sea and return it to his family, but to no avail, to our regret.

We are regretful for this and have decided to take sustained necessary measures in the future, too, in the relevant field.

But in the south side unsavory acts of insulting our good faith and aiming at maximizing distrust and confrontation between the fellow countrymen have become so worse as to go beyond the tolerant limit and to arouse the concerns and resentment of our army and people.

It is not that we have nothing to say to the south side over the incident.

To look back on the past, history records a number of examples in which unimportant incidents in the border areas spilled over into fierce exchange of fire even between countries that had been in peaceful relations.

The north and the south are now technically at war, not in peace, and the place of the incident is the hotspot in the West Sea where the two sides are standing in acute confrontation.

At that time we did not know out of what intention the south Korean citizen illegally intruded into the waters under the control of our side and that person did not immediately respond to our interception. Therefore, it is certain how our soldier on his routine duty could have reacted, which is clear even to the south side.

But as the unexpected incident happened in the waters where our sovereignty is exercised, we conveyed our feelings of regret to the south side, taking into consideration the present state of the north-south relations, and also exercised maximum patience to face the slandering of all descriptions from the south side after the incident.

But the conservative forces of south Korea including the "People Power Party" with the idea of confrontation with the fellow countrymen steeped into the marrows of their bones are working with bloodshot eyes to slander their fellow countrymen in the north under such rhetoric as "atrocity" and "human rights abuses". They are also raising a hue and cry, going imprudent, in order to make the recent incident an opportunity for attaining their dirty political purposes.

They are even calling for bringing the issue to the international arena including the UN, while faulting someone's "human rights issue".

From the beginning, they have been set to foster distrust and hostility toward the fellow countrymen and to find out and snowball the excuses for blaming the present authorities' incompetence, without any endeavors for reasonable judgment of the whole story of the incident and proper solution.

To describe good faith from the fellow countrymen as a knife seems to be an inveterate bad habit of the conservative forces.

We have been fed up with the frenzy of the conservative forces prolonging their remaining days with the confrontation with the fellow countrymen, but we can not but take account of this, now that deliberate and conspiratorial ill story is constantly around over the incident.

As we already mentioned in our notification to the south side, we had told them clearly enough that our soldier could not but take self-defensive measure as he judged that the south Korean citizen who had made an illegal intrusion into the waters of the West Sea of Korea under the control of our side was about to flee, not responding to interception.

Had the south side made an advance notification to us that its citizen was coming to our waters?

As for the "defamation of the dead body" over which the conservative forces are ranting and raving, its truth has already been revealed by the south Korean military.

Explicitly speaking, the recent inglorious incident in the waters of the West Sea of Korea was the result of improper control of the citizen by the south side in the sensitive hotspot are at a time when there are tension and danger due to the vicious virus sweeping the whole of south Korea. Therefore, the blame for the incident first rests with the south side. This is our invariable stand.

It stands to reason to try to find one's own mistake, before faulting others.

The conservative forces allegedly valuing "human rights" with great concern for it kept mum about the recent horrible death of its own citizen by a U.S. armored vehicle, and also about the opening of indiscriminate machine gun fire into another citizen of its side when he was swimming across a river in the area along the Military Demarcation Line to enter the DPRK that killed him. Does it have face to talk about someone's "human rights".

We are clearly aware that the recent imprudent act of the conservative forces is designed to make the unprecedented wind of anti-DPRK confrontation and of "exposing of pro-communists" run high in the south Korean society with the incident as a momentum, not because they are truly concerned for the lives and rights of people.

No false misrepresentation and smear campaign of the conservative forces can ever be allowed to tarnish the profile of the dignified DPRK in which it has become a state custom to respect, love and value people despite whatever vicissitudes.

Clouds of uneasiness and discord still hang heavily low in the relations between the north and the south due to those mad men crazy about escalating confrontation with the fellow countrymen and political strife and about causing social chaos being indifferent to the daily deterioration of people's livelihood and spread of pandemic, and being greedy for "power". This is a stark reality today.

The present serious situation, in which all sorts of slandering against the DPRK has gone beyond the tolerance limit and there are all indications to resort to dangerous moves to lead this incident to international anti-DPRK smear campaign in south Korea, has resulted in affecting the limits of magnanimity and good faith which we have so far maintained.

We do not want to see the repetition of any unpleasant precedents in which accidental incidents led the north-south relations to a catastrophe. This is our stand.

We issue an advance warning to the south Korean conservative forces that their thoughtless confrontational act may invite greater misfortune. -0-

War Constitution Will Lead Japan to Destruction: KCNA Commentary

 

Pyongyang, October 29 (KCNA) -- Japan is working hard to cook up the war constitution.

It appointed heads of six factions within the Liberal Democratic Party as advisers to the headquarters for promoting the constitution revision and made the former vice-president of the LDP who played the main role in retrogressively revising the constitution during the period of former regime remain at the post of supreme advisor.

Prime Minister Suga made a reckless remark that the whole LDP should make energetic efforts to revise the constitution.

What can not be overlooked is that the LDP is mulling completely removing a paragraph stipulating the abandonment of the right to belligerency and prohibition of possession of combat efficiency.

As well known, the former Abe regime, working hard to turn Japan into a country "capable of fighting a war" through the constitution revision, had suggested stipulating the existence of "Self-Defense Forces" together with a paragraph under Article 9 of the pacifist constitution that provides for abandonment of right to belligerency and the ban on the possession of combat efficiency in order to evade denunciation at home and abroad and deceive the public opinion.

On October 7, former secretary general of the LDP Ishiba in a lecture at the Diet building said that Abe and he were all of the same viewpoint in deleting the above-said paragraph but Abe changed his mind as he thought he might not gain a majority at the referendum, adding that anyone bereft of power to handle such a trifling matter would not be entitled to be a politician.

What matters is that the Suga regime is not showing its opposite opinions to the ill-boding movement within the LDP openly calling for deleting the paragraph 2 under Article 9 of the constitution.

This suggests that the present regime is also seeking the stipulation of the SDF in the wake of deleting the paragraph.

The paragraph concerning the abandonment of the right to belligerency and the ban on the possession of combat efficiency are the core of the pacifist constitution and a legal cornerstone that provides for provision of banning Japan, the criminal state and a defeated nation in the World War II, from opting for aggression and war.

The intention to delete the paragraph is an open challenge to our people and humankind as it means its design to take the shape of aggression state, a war state, and to repeat the past crime-woven history of aggression when they called for the "Greater East-Asia Co-prosperity Sphere" while lording it over the Asian continent in the last century.

The energetic promotion of the retrogressive revision of the constitution has aroused greater concern as the militarist zeal is running higher in the Japanese archipelago now.

The arms buildup of the SDF and its overseas advance have been intensified as evidenced by the visit to Yasukuni Shrine by politicians, offering of ancestral tribute to it, a series of provocation concerning Tok Islet issue, launch of new-type submarine to be put into commission for the maritime SDF, promotion of the operation of interceptor missile system in the sea and massive arms buildup for the possession of "ability for attacking enemy base".

All facts prove that the Japanese reactionaries' ambition for becoming a military giant and for launching reinvasion has become all the more undisguised and has entered the phase of implementation.

Japan running headlong into the path of invasion, being oblivious of the lesson from the past defeat in the war, is a root cause threatening peace in the region and the world.

Japan must stop running amuck, clearly aware that revision of constitution will lead it to self-destruction. -0-

Juche v Soviet revisionism or a tale of two different crisis

                                                        

A few days ago it was 58 years since the US imperialists manufactured the so-called "Cuban missile crisis creating a very tense situation internationally by the use of threat and blackmail. It is deeply relevant to compare and contrast the 1962 Cuban missile crisis with the DPRK nuclear issue and the DPRK's confrontation with US imperialism.

            On the 22nd of October 1962 the US imperialists announced that their spy satellites had detected long -range missiles being transported into the Republic of Cuba by the Soviet Union. The US imperialist chieftain Kennedy blustered and threatened the Soviet Union and Cuba. The US announced a blockade of Cuba There was talk of both the invasion of Cuba by the US and a nuclear strike against the USSR. It should be mentioned in passing here that the DPRK under the leadership of the great leader President KIM IL IL SUNG provided internationalist support for Cuba during its hour of need, gave political and military assistance, while sending food and tractors as well as a group of authoritative technicians. The DPRK also publicly supported the 5 -point demands of Premier Fidel Castro which included the US withdrawal from Guantanamo.

 It did not take very long for the modern revisionist Khruschov leadership of the CPSU and USSR  to give into the nuclear blackmail of US imperialism.  On the 28th of October 1962 only 6 days later  Khrushchev announced "the Soviet government, in addition to previously issued instructions on the cessation of further work at the building sites for the weapons, has issued a new order on the dismantling of the weapons which you describe as 'offensive' and their crating and return to the Soviet Union."

Contrast this to People's Korea guided by Juche . The DPRK tested its first nuclear weapon in October 2006 14 years ago  . Since then there have been countless sanctions by the UN and US as well as military pressure but the DPRK has not yielded .

When the first DPRK-US summit was held on the 12th of June 2018 some predicted that the DPRK would disarm unilaterally ( and not only disarm but open a McDonald's in Pyongyang and join the IMF ) . However 2 years later the not a single  DPRK ICBM or nuke has been dismantled and on the 10th of October People's Korea proudly displayed a new ICBM , bigger than the previous ones .

How could People's Korea a country much smaller in size than the old USSR manage to resist pressure from US and world imperialism when the USSR could not ? Well the secret is a simple one , it is called the Juche idea  ! .It is the Juche idea that makes the DPRK strong and able to resist pressure from imperialism . Juche and anti-imperialist independence are embodied in People's Korea !

Despite the high workload, vice-chairman of the Paektu Czech-Korean Friendship Association Comrade Alexander Velitš sent his contribution to the international electronic seminar of the European Regional Society for the Study of the Juche Idea, which held on October 24. The following is the full text:

It can be said that the last decade in Europe has been matked by chaos and social crisis. There is also talk of the so-called crisis of democracy. But what exactly is democracy? Democracy means the rule of the people, but if we look at the practice in capitalist countries, they are ruled by those who have money, then there is some „middle class“ and finally, there is a group of people living in poverty.

Democracy itself is not bad, but it must be the real government of the people and not the bourgeois theatre which pretend like democracy. The fact that a socialist regime is more democratic than the capitalist one is also evidenced by the fact that an ordinary worker or peasant gets into the council much easier than into the capitalist parliament. Because in the capitalist parliament, there are often people who do not know the normal conditions in society, they are detached from the people and are not able to react flexibly to social events, to fulfill the will of the citizens.

Therefore, the solution for European countries would be a socialist state establishment. Thanks to the fact that the socialist establishment is ruled by the Communist or Worker´s Party, around which the people should be united, the state can move forward more effectively and meet the real needs of the people more.

As for the bourgeois parliaments in the „developed Western democracies,“ these legislatures are drowning in fruitless debates, arguing over pettiness, although the country is plagued by many more serious and acute problems.

Politicians in capitalist countries are appearing in front of cameras, signing coalition agreements, undergoing government outreach negotiations in remote areas, but nothing compares to a strong country leadership united in a national front and an excellent leader like in the Democratic People‘s Republic of Korea. Field guidance, made famous especially by General Kim Jong Il and used also by Comrade Kim Jong Un in his work, is a unique way of leadership that no Western state officials are able to emulate.

In socialism, a member of the National Assembly can also be a person who does not have big property, as long as he is, for example, an excellent worker in his workplace and if his co-workers nominate him. This is not the case of capitalism. An ordinary person, such as a poor worker, can hardly become a representative in parliament, even if he or she may be more capable to make decisions about public affairs than those sitting there. Although there is „political competition“ in a bourgeois democracy, it is really just a show of political campaigns and political marketing, with the one who has the best political marketing and enough money for an expensive political campaign combined with some populist idea which people want to hear, wins.

Since every party that manages to get into parliament in capitalism has some sponsors behind it (otherwise it would not be able to afford an expensive political campaign), the party itself must owe its sponsors not only financially but also by promoting things that they suit the sponsor – otherwise, of course, the sponsor would not be interested in financing a political party. If even an member of parliament thinks sincerely of his service to the people, he can only move in the mantinels that his party allows him and that his party‘s sponsor will allow. This is because capitalism is a regime that serves the capitalist class, that is, the wealthy entrepreneurs.

The capitalist system call itself a „democratic system“, but in reality it is the government of rich groups that already have sufficient material background and have therefore moved to the next level – they are trying to influence public events. Ordinary citizens will be blindfolded by the promises of these richly funded parties before the election, and therefore a party made up of ordinary people currently has almost no chance of being elected and representing people in parliament at the time of sophisticated political marketing that spends millions.

In the period of socialism, civil society in our country was also much more developed in Czechoslovakia; the problem was that some people were afraid to express their opinion or demand their rights in accordance with the law. Of course, socialism also behaved according to the class, who representated, and therefore treated the working class and with the class of former capitalists differently, but ordinary workers (of whom there were most in the society) had significantly greater rights. Every honest citizen, and he didn‘t even have to be a member of the party, if he had a problem, he could go up the stairs to the party‘s district committee, describe his problem in a decent way, and the party dealt with it.

The advantages of a socialist state establishment, such as in the DPRK, can also be seen in the example of the current fight against the covid-19 epidemic. In the DPRK, all the people has united under the party leadership and they are trying to prevent an outbreak in their country. The situation is different in European countries.

People often think that when they say „freedom“ and „democracy“, they have the right to do what they want, they do not have to listen to their authorities and can be ruthless towards other people by their behavior; and so they protest against state measures, refuse to comply with them and endanger their fellow citizens.

The viability of the centrally planned economy and the justification of the state‘s self-sufficiency also were reflected in the fight against coronavirus. In today‘s globalized capitalism, the economies of individual Western states (rather provinces in practice) are so interconnected and their self-sufficiency is so low that the interruption of cross-border trade would cause serious complications and the inability to travel would lead to economic failure. However, with countries that pay more attention to their self-sufficiency and to their national economies, this crisis has not shaken so much.

Recently, we have seen that various rich people and speculators, as well as organized crime groups, are trying to influence the political situation in various countries, which are doing something that does not suit these groups. In recent years, it has been an coup in Ukraine, for example, clowning with red cards in the Czech Republic, protests „for a decent Slovakia“ and currently riots in Belarus. The interesting paradox is that when protests take place in countries that claim to be the West countries, the police will crack down on them and the government will pretend that nothing has happened. But if protests (often organized from the West) take place in countries that are more geographically eastern, their suppression is a sign of totalitarianism. We see this, for example, in the words of Igor Matovic, who a few weeks ago condemned the crackdown on demonstrators in Belarus, but later praised police officers for using a water cannon in protests in Slovakia. The same is true of the attitude of the media, which try to influence people‘s opinions – when the police intervened in Russia, they wrote about it as „Putin‘s terror“, but when it intervened in France in „yellow vests“ protests, it wasn´t a terror.

European policy is largely based on Roman law, and many of the things that were valid during its existence still apply today. Everyone probably knows the phrase „bread and games“, which was used 2,000 years ago and is still valid today. The bourgeoisie and their puppets – bourgeois politicians, in an effort not to be disturbed during they accumulate their profits, try to entice people to various pre-election goulash and allow cultural decadence in society, only to make people feel free and not to resist capitalist system. Another similar slogan from the time of the Roman Empire, which is still valid today, is the slogan „divide and rule“. The powerful are trying to divide society with marginal matters, while people argue about nonsense and do not perceive the essence of the capitalist system, which is the exploitation of man by man. And thirdly, as a historian, I will mention another parallel with the ancient past, and that is defense. In the past, there was the Delian League, which brought together various smaller Greek polis, and they paid for the „collective defense“, from which Athens benefited the most, building a strong army and growing its economy from money of other members. Today, most European countries are members of NATO, having to spend a certain percentage of GDP on defense, but in real practice not all countries have the same word in this military pact, and as in Athens in the past, the United States benefits from a position in NATO and want to be a world policeman and they are also trying to control practically the whole world with the help of other states associated in this association.

Contrary to the above, the socialist state is one that seeks the harmonious cultural development of its citizens, society is not divided but united around the party and the leader and the country is protected by its own independent and strong army composed of the people.

Therefore, in the current phase of the people‘s poor awareness, it is necessary to spread the real ideas of socialism in people, undistorted by liberal or xenophobic ideas, and to obtain the means for this spread. Only then can real communists become a relevant political force in Europe again and fight for the establishment of a real, proletarian democracy.

We wish you good health and success in containing the world pandemic COVID-19.

Few weeks ago, we had a grand celebration of the 75th foundation anniversary of the Workers' Party of Korea(WPK).

We celebrate this day as a most auspicious and joyful day for our Party is a true motherly party.

For 75 years, since the foundation of WPK on 10th October, 1945, our Party made sacrificial service for people's benefits and happiness with the people-first policy as a guideline and making selfless, devoted efforts for people as a mode of existence.

The history of WPK can never be thinkable apart from the people. It can be easily seen through the edifices for the people that are built in the best places of the country.

It is the noble intention of the WPK that edifices for the people should be built in the best places of the country.

At a ground-breaking ceremony for the construction of the Pyongyang General Hospital in March this year, Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un said that President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il would be very glad to see a large, modern hospital for the people being built in such best place of Pyongyang and that the news would bring pleasure to our people of all ages and both sexes.

All the monumental edifices built in the best places of the country tell about the peerless great men's noble love for the people.

In his lifetime President Kim Il Sung had always carried a handbook with him on which excellent locations of the country were noted. Among them is Namsan Hill located in the heart of Pyongyang.

Knowing the fact that a design was made for erecting the government building in that place, he said that a large-scale study house for all the people should be built there instead.

When Kwangbok Street was under construction, designers suggested building other structure instead of a restaurant in one of the best places there. Chairman Kim Jong Il, true to the President's noble intention, advised that houses for the pople should be built in such best places before anything else.

After all, many edifices for the people could appear in best places across the country under the great leaders' warm love for people.

Happy laughter of people is now heard in every best places of the country, thanks to the wise guidance of Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un who has been devotedly working for the sake of the people to realize the lifelong desire of the great leaders.

In his speech commemorating the 75th foundation anniversary of WPK, Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un said, our party's struggle to realize the happiness of people will move onto a new stage.

Now, our people are waging a dynamic 80 Days Campaign to greet the 8th Party Congress with high political enthusiasm and labor achievements.

 In south Korea in February  the ultra rightists banded together and formed the so-called 'People's Power  Party ' The title of the party is extremely misleading as it implies a leftist or progressive party when in fact it is actually a party of conservatism and fascism .

The People’s Power Party is one of political party representing the ultrarightist conservative group.

The origin of the People’s Power Party is Liberal Party in the days of Syngman Rhee and Democratic Republican Party formed by the military fascist dictator Park Chung-hee.

After radical development of democratic campaign in 1987 the conservative group named it the Democratic Liberal Party in 1900, New Korea Party in 1995, the Grand National Party in 1997, the Saenuri Party in 2012, the Liberty Korea Party in 2017 and the Unified Future Party in 2020.   

After a crushing defeat in the general election held in last April, the UFP renamed the party as the People’s Power Party on Aug. 31. 

The name of party has changed, however, it persists in permanent military occupation of the US, military fascism, inter-Korean faceoff and war.

The south Korean reactionaries and fascists aim to try and seize power in order to revive the old corrupt fascist dictatorship through the medium of the People's Power Party .

The progressive , peace and anti-imperialist movement in Britain must campaign against the revival of fascism and strongly denounce the so-called 'People's Power Party '.

The south Korean military launched Hoguk, a war exercise against  People's Korea, throughout south Korea from October 26, heedless of the aspiration and desire of the international community for durable peace and security of the Korean Peninsula.  Holding the exercises goes against the spirit and letter of inter-Korean agreements.

The exercise is aimed at making a surprise attack on the DPRK with involvement of the armed forces and marine corps from 1996. 

We strongly denounce these ill boding moves to topple the socialist system of People's Korea by force . We call for the Hoguk exercise to be halted at once and for south Korea to adhere to inter-Korean agreements .

Dangerous stockpile of depleted uranium

 

Of late, it has been revealed that the US air force in south Korea has kept 1.8 million rounds of depleted uranium at the 10th wing of the air force in Suwon and Hwaseong, south Korea. The shell is loaded with depleted uranium produced in the process of enrichment of uranium for nuclear weapon and reactor. The use of depleted uranium shell touched off a big splash at home and abroad as it broke out leukemia and cancer after the US army used first in the Gulf War in 1991 and it was defined as a weapon of mass destruction in the international community. It is amazing that the depleted uranium causing environmental pollution and noxious to the human body have been kept in south Korea.   However, the south Korean authorities have insisted that the stockpile of the depleted uranium shell will pose no problem as it was agreed between the south Korean and the US military. They have taken good care of it and kept it in good condition. If a horrible accident happens, the US wouldn’t take the responsibility for it and the only south Korean people will suffer disaster. The current situation shows that the south Korean people can never escape from nuclear holocaust as long as the US and pro-US boot licking elements exist. The AINDF would launch a dynamic action to smash moves of nuclear war of the US and the south Korean authorities’ sycophantic attitude toward the US.

The US is responsible for the environmental pollution   Of late, residents in Yongsan had a press conference in demand of sound return of the US military base in Yongsan. Participated there were 21 organizations including religious bodies and trade unions in Yongsan and a statement under joint signature was issued.   The environmental degradation of the US military base is serious and it should be purified at the earliest date as it gives the people big trouble. The US should be accountable for it, the participants condemned strongly. They shouted slogans “The US is to blame for the environmental pollution of the US military base in Yongsan”

 

KCNA Commentary on Japan's Moves for Reviving Militarism

 Pyongyang, October 28 (KCNA) -- The Japanese reactionaries are openly pursuing the revival of militarism.

Suga, who took office as prime minister of Japan recently, made a ritual offering to the Yasukuni Shrine on the occasion of the autumn ancestral rite day.

This proves that the island country remains unchanged in its black-hearted design to leaving no stone unturned to instill venomous ultra-nationalism into the minds of the Japanese public, just as the former regimes did, and to launch overseas invasion by embellishing the crime-woven past and reviving the departed soul of militarism.

Dancing to the tune of him who revealed the ultra-right colors, other politicians of Japan were busy visiting and making offerings to the shrine and unhesitatingly spouting rubbishes inciting militarism.

Notably, the minister of Defense let out sophism justifying his visit to the shrine, and the boss of the bipartisan lawmakers federation said before journalists after his visit to the shrine that he visited the shrine full of a wish that Japan and the world would be peaceful.

This is an unpardonable mockery to the Korean nation and the Asian people who suffered pain due to Japan in the past.

Far from feeling shame on the thrice-cursed crime and the defeat it committed and sustained in the past and drawing a lesson from it, Japan, harboring extreme grudge, has worked hard to gloss over the international community's demand for its atonement for the hideous crime-woven past, while getting crazy about historical distortion and pursuing reinvasion like the scenario for turning Japan into a military giant.

The regime of Suga is following in the footsteps of the former regime which perpetrated unprecedented "sins."

The present regime has been praised by Abe for "making a very good start." Buoyed by this, it seeks to step up the final completion of the legal and military foundations for launching overseas invasion.

It set up draft-making commission within the Liberal Democratic Party in a bid to make the present constitution a war one. It seeks to shape the draft bill on revision until the end of this year, giving spur to the moves for possessing the "capability for attacking the enemy bases."

Madcap large-scale war drills of the "Self-Defense Forces" are being staged across the Japanese archipelago, waters off it and in the sky as preparations for overseas invasion under the pretext of getting familiar with the methods of operations for defending remote islands, space and cyber warfare and electronic warfare.

No matter how frequently Japan pays lip-service to "global peace" and justify the visits to the shrine and embellish the blood-stained past history, no country would be taken in by it.

Such moves of Japan to turn the world into a theater of aggression and massacre by reviving militarism will only evoke bitterer denunciation and repugnance of the international community.

No matter how much water may flow under the bridge and how frequently one generation may be replaced with another, the Korean nation and mankind will never forget the past crimes of Japan but surely force it to pay dearly for them.

Japan should face up to this and stop running riot. -0-

Punish the US army

 

Punish the US army    The Progressive Federation of Students had a news conference in demand of a thoroughgoing investigation into the death caused by the US armored vehicle and enactment of bill punishing those who are accountable for it outside the National Assembly on Oct. 13.     The death was caused by the US army. The National Assembly should demand the US to make an apology for the death of south Koreans and request the US for assurances against the recurrence of the death. It is obligation of the National Assembly as it represents the interest of the south Koreans, said Park, a member of the organization. They strongly urged the National Assembly to enact bill for preventing the death of the people by the US army on the day.   Prior to this, the students and civil organizations had a press conference in demand of the investigation into the death of the south Koreans caused by the US armored vehicle and the punishment of those who are responsible for it outside the gate of the US 2nd division in Dongducheon on Oct. 10. A ceremony for tearing the Stars and Strips bearing the name of the US 2nd division to pieces was held after the press conference.

 

Commentary of AINDF Spokesman-on south Korea's weak attitude to Japan

 

 The south Korean authorities have adopted low-profile diplomacy toward Japan’s undisguised effort for embellishing the unhappy past, only to spark off surging indignation of the nation.

Despite the opposition of the people, the south Korean authorities have spouted a string of rubbish that reciprocal cooperation is urgent and bilateral relationship should be developed step by step.

Broad segments of the south Korean people denounce that the authorities are going to keep the issue of the Japanese past crimes under the carpet of history.  

A few days ago, the newly-appointed Chief Cabinet Secretary of Japan openly denied the judgment of the south Korean Supreme Court on indemnity for labor conscription forced by the Japan and threatened that encashment of the Japanese businesses’ attachment would cause sour situation to the south Korea-Japan relationship.

The Japanese Minister of Foreign Affairs officially demanded the German government to remove the girl’s statue for peace erected in Berlin. The Japanese Prime Minister openly put pressure upon south Korea that if disposition by sale of the Japanese businesses is not withdrawn, he would not take part in the summit between south Korea, China and Japan.

Moreover, Japan is making frantic bid to seize Dok Island and remains evermore persistent in its moves to pervert historical facts. 

Nevertheless, the south Korean authorities have implored Japan to heal bilateral relations, far from wresting apology and reparation from Japan for its past crimes. It is quite reasonable that the south Koreans are convulsed with towering rage and revulsion at the authorities’ attitude.

The south Korean authorities’ low-profiled attitude toward Japan is gruesome.

The south Korean people from all social standings should not tolerate Japan’s distortion of the past and launch a dynamic action to sweep away the pro-Japanese forces.

Our people launched the 80 Days Campaign for new development and prosperity in order to greet the 8th Party Congress of the Workers' Party of Korea(WPK) with glory.

With the firm belief in the victory of the 80 Days Campaign, our people are working day and night filled with the strong emotion of the moment when we were highly praised by our Respected Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un as "Great our people".

"Great our people", this is an expression of endless love, sincerity and faith, a presentation of the most noble emotion one could name. This is a hearty call that makes us to recollect once again with deep emotion the party's love for people and the single hearted unity of the party and people.

It is the general review of the history of the glorious Workers' Party of Korea(WPK) that the people can become the great people who absolutely trust and follow the Party and the miracle changing the history be made when the politics of the Party turn into the ones of love for and devotion to the people.

The history of the WPK can never be thought of apart from the people. The people-first principle is the guiding idea and political ideology and mode of our Party, and the spirit of making selfless, devoted efforts for the good of the people is its mode of existence.

Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un is the great leader of the people who ceaselessly develops the Party into a revolutionary one making selfless, devoted efforts for the good of the people.

Kim Jong Un is the great thinker and theoretician who is thoroughly applying the people-first principle to mapping out the line and policy of the Party. He formulated the essence of kimilsungism-Kimjongilism, the guiding idea of the WPK, as the people-first principle. This is the most vivid expression of the outstanding ideological and theoretical wisdom and the popular personality of kim Jong Un who is paving the true path for the good of the people with his complete command of the revolutionary idea and exploits of President kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il.

He is bringing about a new turn in the party work after setting out the slogan "Let the entire party make selfless, devoted efforts for the good of the great people!"

He is a tender-hearted father of the people who is leading the entire Party to the campaign for making selfless, devoted efforts for the good of the people with his sacrificial devotion and lofty exemplar.

Few months ago, Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un visited Unpa County which was heavily damaged by floods and storms. At the time, even the roads were damaged, but he drove on such dangerous and muddy roads to meet the people of the damaged area. Who would have thought that the first person to visit the damaged places would be our Supreme Leader.

When he was about to leave, his car got into the muddy hole. The farmers who were around rushed to the car to pull it. Our Supreme Leader got out the car and pulled it with them. With the muddy spots on his clothe, he spoke to the farmers that actually he came to help the farmers, but instead he got the help from the farmers, and he said thank you. Upon hearing his words, the farmers who didn't cry even after their houses collapsed by a storm, burst into floods of tears. Our people do not fear any kinds of disasters for we have our Supreme Leader and we bravely break through all the challenges with full confidence in victory.

The victorious and glorious history of our party proved that the great people, who have become a harmonious whole with their great leader and party, can carry forward the cause chosen by themselves to the end by their own efforts despite any adversity.

Our Party and people are inseparable. Party's faith in people and our people' loyalty to the Party are unyielding and unchangeable.

People are eternal and our Party's cause for the people and with the people will be ever-victorious.

DISCORD LECTURE ON THE DPRK 25.10.2020

Greetings and good evening everyone . I am Dr Dermot Hudson chairman of the UK Korean Friendship Association and Official Delegate of the Korean Friendship Association to the UK since March 2001 , also the Chairman of the British Group for the Study of the Juche Idea since 1985 .I am author of the books ‘ In Defence of Juche Korea’ , “ Korea of Juche ‘ and ‘In Defence of Songun ‘ and many other books , I am currently working a short book refuting the allegations of a famine in the DPRK during the 1990s.

 I am going to talk tonight about a country which I visited 18 times since 1992 , the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea or People’s Korea or Juche Korea or socialist Korea . The media like to refer to the DPRK as north Korea but in fact historically and geographically there is no north and south Korea , the Korean people are one nation and one people. This is one of the first misunderstandings about the country and is basically used to deny the legitimacy of  the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea or DPRK which was founded in 1948 not just by the people of the northern part of Korea but the people of south Korea as well . The DPRK is the fruit of the struggle for independence of Korea from Japan that was waged under the leadership of President KIM IL SUNG over a period of many years .

Today the DPRK  is one of the most vilified and demonized countries on the face of the earth  , all because it is the most independent country in the world , once described by former British prime minister  as a country with ‘undiluted sovereignty which was a sort of a backhanded compliment to the DPRK .  When I was a kid years ago I once read a science book which had a section on Britain’s nuclear weapons which said that two keys are needed to fire a nuclear rocket from the UK and one of those keys is held by an American officer ! In People’s Korea , the right to fire the large sized ICBMs that you saw paraded on October 10th is entirely in Korean hands , no other country can make decisions about what weapons the DPRK can or cannot use . The DPRK does not have a single foreign soldier stationed on its soil , however south Korea is occupied by at least 30,000 US troops and even has to pay for the upkeep of the US occupation troops . In the UK we had a referendum about whether to stay in the EU or not ( I voted Leave myself) but in south Korea no referendum has ever been held on whether US troops stay in south Korea or not , South Korea is basically a modern type of colony .

 Of course independence and sovereignty are not simply about what weapons  you can fire  . It is about control of the economy  , of culture etc, Whether people can exercise control over all aspects of society or whether decisions are made by outside forces . As President KIM IL SUNG said ‘ Independence is what keeps man alive. If he loses independence in society, he cannot be called a man; he differs little from an animal. We might say that socio-political life is more valuable to a man than physical life. He is a social being. If he is forsaken by society and deprived of political independence although he seems alive, he is virtually dead as a social human being. That is why the revolutionaries deem it far more honourable to die in the fight for freedom than to remain alive in slavery."

Someone asked UK KFA through facebook about a week ago  about the Central Bank in the DPRK , this is indeed owned by the state and under the control of the people through their people’s government  . The DPRK is not a member of the IMF or World Bank so decisions about the DPRK’s economy are made in Pyongyang not in Washington , Brussels or Tokyo . The DPRK is a planned economy run by the people and in the interests of the people .

The Juche Idea is the basic underpin of the independence of People’s Korea . So what is the Juche idea ?  First I will answer what it is not . It is not simply nationalism  as some claim . The Juche idea is internationalist . The DPRK has given generous assistance to other countries . It has supported revolutionary and anti-imperialist struggles in many countries such as Vietnam , Cuba, Angola and others . Several African countries have monuments built by DPRK for them and in Egypt and Syria there are war museums built by the DPRK .

Juche is not simply Marxism-Leninism applied to Korea as some claim . It contains original features but at the same time inherits features of classical Marxism-Leninism .In People's Korea socialism had to be built through not only struggle against imperialism and class enemies but against a hidden internal enemy , dogmatists and factionalists . These people would argue against different policies of the Workers Party of Korea  either saying that  such and such policy was not in the classics of Marxism -Leninism or that it had not been done in a big country . Such elements claimed to be pure Marxists , purer than pure but in fact their approach was actually extremely reactionary and counter-revolutionary , for example opposing collectivisation. Juche meant that new and original solutions were found to previously unanswered questions. Of course Juche does not reject Marxism-Leninism out of hand .

Basically the Juche Idea is the idea that the people are the masters of the revolution and construction .

It stipulates that humans are the masters of their destiny and have the power to carve it . Juche , therefore, rejects all kinds of superstitious and fatalistic notions about the fate of humans either being predetermined or controlled by an unseen mysterious deity existing outside time and space.

   The Juche Idea was  authored by the great leader of the Korean people , President KIM IL SUNG who first outlined the Juche Idea at the historic Kalun meeting of young Korean revolutionaries in

June 1930. It was systematised and further developed by Chairman KIM JONG IL who wrote  the classic treatise  ON THE JUCHE IDEA in 1982.

    Juche defines humans as social beings with independence , creativity and consciousness. The most important thing is to develop the independence and creativity of people during all stages of the revolution and construction . The key thing is to take the independent stand in the revolution , this

means establishing Juche in ideology, independence in politics , self-sufficiency in the economy and self-reliance in national defence .

Juche was established in People ‘s Korea as a result of the struggle not only against Japanese colonialism  and US domination but also the struggle to be independent from big powers such as the USSR and China which although supposed allies of the DPRK tended to interfere in the DPRK and put pressure on it .The Soviet big-power chauvinists and modern revisionists tried to subordinate the DPRK economy to their own  but President KIM IL SUNG was having none of it and adhered to the line of economic independence .The big power chauvinists tried to induce the DPRK to join the CMEA by offering to supply to the DPRK  electricity from the Lake Baikal power station.

At that time President KIM II SUNG told them: “We will not use electricity generated by the power station; if we become de­pendent on electricity from you and then you fail to supply it, then we would suffer greatly; if we have funds for transmis­sion cables from the power station to our country, it would be more effective for us to use these funds to build another hydroelectric power station in our country. It has become more clear today that our decision to build socialism by our own efforts on the principle of self-reliance and not enter the CMEA was quite correct’.

   In fact the USSR basically cut economic and military aid to the DPRK in 1962.

It is thanks to the independent Juche line that when socialism collapsed in the USSR and other Eastern European countries , the DPRK did not collapse but instead marched on holding high the red flag of socialism and serving as an example to other countries.

 Guided by the Juche idea and led by the Workers Party of Korea guided by President KIM IL SUNG and Chairman KIM JONG IL and now Marshal KIM JONG UN , the Korean people have made great achievements in building a new country.

The economy of the DPRK grew 431 times in terms of industrial output value and 65 times in national income between 1946-1984 ! This is an extremely high rate of growth. Two Western economists Brun and Hersh in their book "Socialist Korea a Case Study in comparative economic development" quoted an economic expert as stating that the DPRK's annual average economic growth rate between 1954 and 1970 was 23.5 % . Probably the highest growth rate in the world and a genuine Korean economic miracle(by the way the term Korean economic miracle was actually used by the eminent Cambridge economist Professor Joan V Robinson in 1964 to describe the DPRK economy). All this was done under conditions of sanctions and blockade by the US and other countries. Moreover it was entirely by the DPRK's own efforts  not by 'aid' from the imperialist countries and certainly not favourable trade terms.

                              At a time when the Western countries had enforced a virtually total sanctions regime and blockade in the late 1950s the DPRK economy grew at a rate of 36.6% per annum between 1957 -1960 . In 1957 its rate of growth hit 44% undoubtedly the highest in the world.

.Free education and free health care were introduced, long ago, indeed the free health system was introduced in the flames of war in 1953. The DPRK has 300 universities compared to 130 in the UK even though the DPRK’s population 

Korean people receive great social benefits such as free housing and taxation was abolished in 1974. Now under the leadership of dear respected Marshal KIM JONG UN the WPK is pushing forward all manner of projects to improve living standards.

    Visiting the DPRK several times since 2012 I have seen with my eyes the fast changing reality of the People’s Korea led by the WPK and Marshal KIM JONG UN . Whole new streets have appeared such as Changjon Street, Mirae Scientists Street and Ryomyong Street . I can remember visiting the DPRK in April 2016 and Ryomyong Street was just bare earth with lorries moving around . One year later I came back in April 2017 a whole new street the size of a town or a new city had appeared . We were told that Professor Ri Mu Il who had been our guide in 2012 had moved into Ryomyong Street . Also new health care facilities such as the Okryu Children's Hospital and the Ryugyong Ophthalmic Hospital were constructed , both of which I have visited .

Today People’s Korea is the only country in the world without Covid 19  . This is not simply an assertion of the DPRK but is confirmed by the World Health Organisation.

2 weeks ago on October 10th the DPRK held a massive military parade to mark the 75th anniversary of the foundation of the Workers’ Party of Korea .Only People's Korea guided by Juche was able to hold such a large-scale parade at the time of the worldwide pandemic . Moreover People's Korea in the grip of the stranglehold of the reactionary imperialist sanctions . Since 2016 the UN Security Council have imposed 5 rounds of sanctions and also the US , EU and Britain have imposed sanctions on People's Korea . On top of the sanctions imposed by the imperialist hostile forces on People's Korea , the country suffered severe natural disasters such as flood and typhoon .If other countries faced the same situation of the DPRK they would not have been able hold such a magnificent and grand parade . The DPRK recovered from the flood and typhoon damage in double quick time and by its own efforts , without outside aid , in the spirit of self-reliance.

The parade itself had a number of striking features different to previous DPRK military parades . Firstly , it was held at midnight  . This is something quite unprecedented . I have attended five military parades in the DPRK but they have always been during the daytime , usually in the morning , occasionally in the afternoon .This time was different , it was the parade was held before dawn , This shows the strong discipline and devotion to duty of the officers and soldiers of the Korean People's Army . The imperialists like to say that there is no electricity in the DPRK but the parade was bathed in the light of powerful floodlights . Secondly , a fine array of state of the art weaponry was displayed  including a giant Intercontinental  Ballistic Missile that looked far bigger than the old Soviet ICBMs . The DPRK was not 

sweet-talked by the imperialists into unilateral disarmament or the so-called 'Libyan model ' . The DPRK is not soft like the old Soviet Union  which did deals with the imperialists only to be undermined from within by them and destroyed in the end. At the same time it was stressed by Marshal KIM JONG UN that the DPRK's nuclear deterrent is after all a nuclear deterrent and will not be used for a pre-emptive strike . Thus the DPRK's mighty Hwasong 16 is an ICBM for peace , an ICBM for independence .

Finally  I will just answer some common arguments of People’s Korea thrown up by opponents . Firstly , some claim that the DPRK is a dictatorship . Is the DPRK a dictatorship  , the answer is no . Marshal KIM JONG UN is the elected head of state and elected Chairman of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea  is enjoying far more popular support than any Western head of state in history . In the DPRK general election held in March 2019 99.97 percent of all the voters took part  in the election and 100 percent of them voted for the candidates . A demonstration of decisive support, and single-hearted unity . but what of the so-called Western'democracies' ? In the US presidential election in 2016 , voter turnout was only 55 per cent .In the UK General election in December 2019 , 67 percent of electors voted and the ruling party was elected with the votes of 27 percent of electors . Clearly the leaders of the imperialist countries have no real democratic mandate to rule whereas Marshal KIM JONG UN and the Workers' Party of Korea  does . The DPRK is a people's democracy , a socialist democracy . In People's Korea , deputies to the Supreme People's Assembly, the highest organ of power are honorable servants of the people . Ordinary workers are deputies to the Supreme People's Assembly.There is no need to compete for a place in parliamentary easy street but rather a matter of the people choosing the best people for the job , people they will have confidence in . Thus elections in the DPRK are a civilized affair and people dance and sing on election day . In the DPRK people exercise power at all levels from the humble people's neighourhood unit to the Supreme People's Assembly.

From time to time the real rulers in so-called "democracies ' when faced with a serious crisis , dispense with the facade and rule by force , this is what happened in Germany , Italy and other countries in the 1930s . A dictatorship is when the capitalist megacorporations sink their differences and entrust power to one individual or a group of individuals to rule on their behalf . However in the DPRK where social ownership prevails there are no big private corporations so a dictatorship cannot arise.

Secondly  some  criticise the DPRK over human rights .Now on the issue of human rights .

  Well years ago someone told me that human rights are a political football .  You can score a goal in the game against an opposing political and economic system if you kick the ball marked 'human rights ' into the net  and yes it is a bit like that . Human rights can be a weapon of regime change .

 People cite the UN Commission of Enquiry in 2014 .The UN Commission of Inquiry never visited the DPRK even once nor did it actually bother to interview a single DPRK citizen or give the DPRK the chance to answer the allegations . The  Commission of Inquiry was a farce , it produced one of the most one sided and biased and partisan documents in the whole history of the United Nations . What it did show was the UN is a  puppet , a marionette of the United States and other Western imperialist countries.

If you actually read the 'Commission of Inquiry ' report you  find it is actually full of institutionalized anti-communism and anti-socialism .It is basically 'Juche-phobic 'if there is such a thing . The DPRK is actually condemned for being a socialist country .

Visiting the DPRK 18 times I have never seen giant  'forced labour camps' and 'concentration camps'  that the imperialists allege exist in the DPRK ? I could not see such a thing  in fact I didn't even see one barbed wire fence in the countryside nor large numbers of police or security personnel.

The imperialists claim that there are hundreds of thousands of people held in camps in the DPRK , such camps would have to be massive and with a huge number of guards but I did not see such a thing in the DPRK countryside. Moreover the DPRK is very peaceful and calm; you rarely see emergency vehicles rushing through the busy streets. If it what the imperialists say about "human rights " and " forced labour camps " in the DPRK was true, then you would say police or security personnel on the streets arresting many people and putting them in lorries to go to "labour camps " or "concentrations camps " but I saw no such thing happen. I did not see heavily armed police on the streets that you sometimes encounter in London , either on the streets or at railway stations or at airports . Indeed I was able to go for a walk near the Mansudae Assembly Hall, the home of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly  , the highest organ of legislative power in the DPRK and roughly equivalent to the parliament. Now in London the area around parliament is a restricted area where movement is controlled and armed police units patrol. However  in Pyongyang I saw no police or security personnel in the area surrounding the Mansudae Assembly hall. Of course the DPRK is a stable and harmonious unified society based on single hearted unity so there is no terrorism and no riots. In the DPRK there is unity between the  armed forces and civilians  so people do not fear or despise the armed forces.

    In fact the DPRK  has taken a number of measures to consolidate human rights protection such as establishing the DPRK Association for Human Rights Studies on August 27, 1992. In addition to provisions in the constitution on gender equality and the law on sexual equality of 1946, the Law of the DPRK on Protection of Women’s Rights was passed on December 22, 2010 and supplemented in 2011 . Legislation on children's rights and the rights of the disabled was also passed. Recently a general amnesty for those convicted of crimes against the country was announced effective from the 17th of September  2020. So now there are no prisoners at all in the DPRK.

To conclude, People's Korea is hated by the imperialists and a target of industrial scale propaganda and demonisation because it upholds independence , it upholds Juche and is a real socialist country .

Today Britain and Europe face a most severe social crisis along with a political and economic crisis . At the same time the very limited democratic rights, which are already inherently constrained because  bourgeois democracy is not real democracy but democracy only for the rich, are under threat from creeping fascism or fascistisation by the monopoly capitalist ruling class.

   Many European countries such as Italy , Spain , France and Britain have been severely affected by the Covid 19 pandemic and have been unable to contain or control the Pandemic .

    

  In my own country Britain has been severely affected by Covid 19 . So far officially  42, 875 people have died from Covid 19 but it is thought that in fact the real figure is far higher . At the moment Covid 19 cases in the UK are increasing rapidly , recently 17,000 new cases were reported in just one day . Although the death rate from Covid 19 is not as high as it was in March and April  it has shown signs of rising again .

The Covid 19 pandemic has had a number of serious effects on society in the UK . First of all , it has caused the capitalist crisis to deepen and many people have lost their jobs .It is reported that  1,398,000 are out of work but the figure is probably much higher . Many shops and businesses have closed down permanently . Some areas have become ghost towns almost.It is predicted that UK GDP will fall by 35 per cent ! .If this happened it would be much worse than the recessions in the 1970s and 1980s.

 The lockdown imposed by the authorities from March to June which resulted in many people being stuck at home and isolated resulted in an increase in cases of mental illness as well as family break up and domestic violence .

  The UK government of Boris Johnson has shown itself to be incompetent and unable to deal with the Pandemic . The Johnson regime  was heavily reliant on civil servants and advisors to make decisions and instead of having clear rules for the lockdown instead come out with ambiguous and confusing rules. During the early spring period in the UK the situation was very difficult because some shops closed and there were also shortages of items such as food and toilet paper in some shops as well as rising prices but the government did nothing to help people .

The pandemic situation in the UK and European countries stands in stark contrast to how People’s Korea has dealt with the Covid 19 situation . Today the DPRK is the only country in the world without a single Covid 19 case .What is the secret ? Well the DPRK took early measures against Covid 19 such as closing the border in January before even the WHO declared Covid 19 a pandemic . Other measures included extending school holidays , getting people to wear masks , rigorous disinfection of  public areas , medical checkups for people , health education and quarantining foreigners within the borders of the DPRK.  

  The DPRK ‘s experience in dealing with Covid 19 is a model for other countries to follow .  Really  the 42,875 deaths from Covid 19  in the UK could have been avoided if the UK had done the same as the DPRK and shut the border completely  but instead Heathrow airport remained open during the lockdown , isn’t this completely crazy . Our rulers in the UK are elitist, anti -people and incompetent , they lack the vision to implement simple and direct solutions to problems , whereas Juche Korea follows the people-orientated policy .

Respected Marshal KIM JONG UN , a true people's leader , convened a meeting of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea on the 29th of February at which it was discussed "  taking nationwide top-class anti-epidemic steps in a more thorough-going way and strictly putting them into practice in order to cope with the viral epidemic spreading rapidly around the world".   and also   "measures to deter the influx and spread of the infectious disease in a scientific, preemptive and lockdown way." . At the same time respected Marshal KIM JONG UN had officials guilty of bureaucratic behaviour removed from position .This contrasts with the incompetence of many leaders in the capitalist world who failed to take any decisive measures to stop the situation getting out of control .

     Really Covid 19 is a consequence of globalisation , neoliberalism , capitalism and the incompetence of the rulers of capitalist countries . What shines through is the superiority of the Juche-based socialist system of People's Korea . The DPRK based on self-reliance has rejected globalisation and has built a self-reliant independent national economy. The socialist system of People's Korea is based on single-hearted unity ,it can mobilise resources  to fight against epidemics in a way that class-divided ,conflict ridden capitalist societies cannot do so . The fact there are no Covid 19 cases in People's Korea is testimony to the superiority of Juche-based socialism.

Recently the DPRK was able to  hold massive celebrations including a great military parade to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Workers’ Party of Korea . The DPRK is the only country in the world able to hold such large scale celebrations. Again this proves the superiority of the people-centred socialist system and the Juche idea.

Even before Covid 19 the UK was facing a deep societal crisis . Many social problems such as family breakdown , drug addiction  , sexual crime and gang violence  are rampant . Cultural levels are falling . For example statistics show that 16 percent of the population is illiterate . I remember even back in the 1970s some people left school without being able to read and write .

Whilst the reactionary authorities have not taken measures to safeguard people against Covid 19 , at the same time they have taken steps to limit the very limited democracy .  For example  legalisation on Covid 19 was rushed through parliament .Local elections have been suspended .  A law giving the legal right to UK intelligence services to kill opponents of the country has been passed.

Measures have been taken for gag dissenters . For example although I do not approve of the views of conspiracy theorists at least one prominent conspiracy theorist was banned from social media . Even more sinister is that some left wing groups have had posts deleted or banned on social media . Recently our  British Group for the Study of the Juche Idea and UK Korean Friendship Association produced a study guide to the Juche philosophy but Facebook banned it  ! 

Also in the UK there has been talk by the government of passing legislation to ban  ‘support for hostile states’ or to ban propaganda ‘on behalf of hostile states’ , this could restrict solidarity activities in support of People’s Korea and the study of the Juche idea . Moreover recently there has been a severe media attack on our Korean Friendship Association making false accusations using heavily edited material from illegal surveillance of the association over many years by a spy.

It is the opinion of some in our British Group for the Study of the Juche Idea that the UK is heading towards fascism .

It is our view that Juche idea followers must fight hard for democratic rights and against fascism .

In today ‘s world  People's Korea led by respected Marshal KIM JONG UN  stands out as an example of true people’s democracy .Marshal KIM JONG UN is the elected head of state and elected Chairman of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea  is enjoying far more popular support than any Western head of state in history . In the DPRK general election held in March 2019 99.97 percent of all the voters took part  in the election and 100 percent of them voted for the candidates . A demonstration of decisive support and , single-.hearted unity . DPRK ? What is the situation in capitalist countries?  In the US presidential election in 2016 , voter turnout was only 55 per cent .In the UK General election in December 2019 , 67 percent of electors voted and the ruling party was elected with the votes of only 27 percent of electors . Clearly the leaders of the imperialist countries have no real democratic mandate to rule whereas Marshal KIM JONG UN and the Workers' Party of Korea  does . The DPRK is a people's democracy , a socialist democracy . In People's Korea , deputies to the Supreme People's Assembly, the highest organ of power are honourable servants of the people . Ordinary workers are deputies to the Supreme People's Assembly.  A street cleaner is even a deputy to the Supreme People’s Assembly.There is no need to compete for a place in parliamentary easy street but rather a matter of the people choosing the best people for the job , people they will have confidence in . Thus elections in the DPRK are a civilized affair  In the DPRK people exercise power at all levels from the humble people's neighbourhood unit to the Supreme People's Assembly.

To conclude  I say let us uphold the example of Juche-based people’s democracy of Juche Korea  ! Let's fight hard for democratic rights and let's oppose fascism !

Short report of online meeting of the European Regional Society for the Study of the Juche Idea held on the 24th of October

An online meeting and seminar of the European Regional Society for the Study of the Juche Idea to mark the 35th anniversary of the foundation of the European Regional Society for the Study of the Juche Idea  was held on Saturday 24th of October between 1000 hours BST and 1130 hours BST.

The British Group for the Study of the Juche Idea participated  in the meeting 

  The following countries were represented in the meeting ; Britain , France , Finland , Italy and Romania. Some of the original founders of the European Regional Society for the Study of the Juche Idea (ERSSJI) were in the meeting .The meeting was presided over by Professor Edmond Jouve .

A number of the participants spoke about the 35th anniversary of the foundation of ERSSJ and the importance of the work of the ERSSJI in promoting the Juche Idea and fighting for independence and peace in Europe.

All the speakers praised the Workers' Party of Korea and respected Marshal KIM JONG UN 

Chairman of the British Group for the Study of the Juche Idea Dr Dermot Hudson read out a paper titled 'The Social Crisis , Democracy and the Juche Idea '  in which he outlined the deep crisis in Britain and Europe and compared it with the DPRK .
