Report of 8th Joint Songun-Juche Study Session and Q and A 06.05.2024 .

The 8th Joint Songun-Juche Idea Study Session and Q and A organised by the Korean Friendship Association of the UK(KFA UK ), British Group for the Study of the Juche Idea  was held at 1830 hours BST  on the 6th of May . Participating were members of KFA UK and the British Group for the Study of the Juche Idea from London , West of England , Oxfordshire and Scotland as well as guests from KFA Germany , KFA Andalusia (Spain ) , KFA Poland and the People’s Korea Initiative of Poland .

Questions were raised about the education system in the DPRK , the question of ideological education for children , the viewing of military parades in the DPRK and also the role of ideology in raising consciousness of the need for sacrifice .

Dr Dermot Hudson KFA UK Chairman and Chairman of the British Group for the Study of the Juche Idea said that invited guests can view military parades in the DPRK and outlined his experience in watching military parades in the DPRK in 2012, 2013 , 2015 , 2017 and 2018.

Dr Hudson also gave a summary of the nature of the education system in the DPRK and the kind of schools that exist as well as explaining how ideological education for small children is carried out .

Answering the question about the role of ideology in raising consciousness of the need for sacrifice  Alan Bolon , KFA UK Organisation Secretary and head of KFA UK West of England said “. In the DPRK it was different, first the agrarian reform was carried out because it was the most important time requirement to eliminate the property of landowners, and then the emphasis was placed on the development of industry. So it is objective conditions that dictate the direction, not dogma.”

Dr Hudson explained that the DPRK views ideological work as essential for accomplishing the cause of socialism .

A question was asked about the new song “Friendly Father “.

Dr Hudson read extracts from  “Juche Idea Answers to a Hundred Questions ‘ and ‘Songun Idea Questions and Answers ‘.

Grasswork Products of the DPRK

Grasswork is part of the cultural heritage of the Korean nation.

Grasswork products made of stems, bark, leaves and other parts of plants preserve both natural and classical beauty, and they are environmentally friendly. Now their value is positively reassessed.

Today the demand for grasswork products is on the increase in the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea which abounds with grass plants. Grasswork products help the locals make their lives more civilized and enriched.

 

Bell of Yonbok Temple, World Cultural Heritage

 

There is a big bell at Namdae Gate in Kaesong City of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea.

The bell was cast in 1346 in the period of Koryo (one of the feudal states in Korea that had existed between 918 and 1392) and hung at the Yonbok Temple in Kaesong, the then capital of Koryo. It was moved to Namdae Gate after the temple was burnt down in 1563.

With its mouth 1.9m in diameter, the bell is 3.12m high and 0.23m thick and weighs about 14 tons.

It differs from other bells in the period of Koryo in shape, pattern and distribution.

A few thick lines around the waist of the body divide the bell into the upper and lower parts. Engraved on the upper part are Buddhist images and scriptures, patterns and the name of the bell. The rhythmically wavy frame of the lower part is graced by embossed designs of fish, dragon and other animals.

The dragons decorating the ring of the bell are so vivid that they seem to be brought to life.

The surface ornaments are exquisite, elegant and imposing. It is said that the tolling was clear enough to be heard as far as over 40km.

The bell, cast in copper alloy, showcases the metal workmanship of the Korean ancestors.

As one of typical cultural heritage items of the Korean people, the bell was added to the list of UNESCO World Cultural Heritage in 2013, together with other historical and cultural relics in Kaesong

 

 

 

 

 

Characteristics of Construction of Large-Scale Greenhouse Farms in the DPRK

In mid-March this year an inauguration ceremony of a world’s leading greenhouse complex was held in the Kangdong area in a suburb of Pyongyang, the capital of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea.

There are noteworthy points in the country’s construction of large-scale greenhouse farms.

First, their construction is not for any economic profit but for the welfare of the people.

The ruling Workers’ Party of Korea and the government of the DPRK have long paid great attention to the construction of greenhouse farms.

In recent years in particular, they have formulated it as a policy to build large-scale modern greenhouse farms on a nationwide scale to supply the people with various fresh vegetables in all seasons.

In line with this policy, construction of large-scale greenhouse farms started in the areas where vegetable farming is not successful owing to unfavourable natural and climatic conditions, and the Jungphyong Greenhouse Farm in North Hamgyong Province was inaugurated in 2019, and the Ryonpho Greenhouse Farm in South Hamgyong Province in 2022.

The third entity is the Kangdong Greenhouse Complex.

Second, the size and productivity of the greenhouse farms have become larger, and each of the more advanced greenhouses and public buildings has been built in a year.

The Jungphyong Greenhouse Farm, built in a little over a year, was the largest and modern farm of its kind in those days in the country.

It consists of a total of 320 hydroponic and soil greenhouses including 1 000 m2 semi-arched and double-walled greenhouses numbering 300, hundreds of flats, and many public and production buildings.

The Ryonpho Greenhouse Farm has more than twice the size and production capacity of the Jungphyong Greenhouse Farm.

More than 850 hydroponic and soil greenhouses, where vegetable cultivation is done on modern, intensive and industrial footing, were built in 280 hectares, and over 1 000 flats, schools, a hall of culture and general public welfare service facility were built, turning the whole area into a large farm area.

The construction took only 230 days.

The Kangdong Greenhouse Complex, built in one year, is of a larger size and has a greater production capacity with more developed combined greenhouses than the Ryonpho Greenhouse Farm, public buildings and terraced houses that present a good harmony with the surrounding natural scenery.

Third, the greenhouse farms have been built by the soldiers of the Korean People’s Army.

The KPA soldiers, holding the slogans “Let us take charge of both national defence and socialist construction!” and “Let us help the people!” have built many structures for the happiness for the people, to say nothing of protecting their lives and property at the cost of their lives.

This army has built the greenhouse farms, each one in a year.

That’s why in his speech encouraging the soldiers, who built the Kangdong Greenhouse Complex, Kim Jong Un, President of the State Affairs of the DPRK, said:

As it has always been with you, you are just given the priceless honour of leading the effort to effect a world of transformation in the coming years, a world which our ideals and our style of creative struggle will surely lead to. Let us continue to advance and achieve victory, singing the song of creators under the uplifted banner of defenders.

Giant Greenhouse Complex Inaugurated in DPRK

In mid-March, a world-leading vegetable production complex was completed and went into operation in the Kangdong area of Pyongyang, the capital city of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea.

The Kangdong Greenhouse Complex is the third of its kind in the country after the large-scale greenhouse farms in Jungphyong (inaugurated in December 2019) and Ryonpho (inaugurated in October 2022).

It is a new-generation vegetable producer whose size and production capacity are much bigger and more developed than the Ryonpho Greenhouse Farm.

Equipped with highly intensive, optimized and smart production lines, including a cylindrical vegetable cultivation greenhouse and dome-shaped glass hydroponic greenhouse, the complex will produce and supply various species of vegetables to the citizens of the capital city

Press Statement by Permanent Representative of DPRK at UN

Pyongyang, May 5 (KCNA) -- Kim Song, permanent representative of the DPRK at the UN, made public the following press statement on May 5:

The U.S. and other Western countries, together with their vassal forces, released a "joint statement" on May 1 as regards the dissolution of the panel of experts assisting the UNSC sanctions committee on the DPRK.

In every paragraph of the statement reminiscent of a funeral oration, I could read their partiality and attachment for the panel and their pitiful plight, stunned by its dissolution.

It is not surprising that the U.S. and other Western countries, which have maintained their vested rights by inflicting misfortune and pain upon other nations under the pretext of guaranteeing global peace and security, feel deep regrets about the end of that mouthpiece organization.

Although they are very reluctant to acknowledge, the U.S. and other Western countries should humbly face up to the reality, seriously review and deeply reflect on the failure of their anti-DPRK hostile policy that is run through with arrogance and self-complacency.

The "joint statement" distorts the truth by terming the dissolution of the panel of experts a disaster caused by a UNSC permanent member's veto, but in fact it is a judgment made by history on an illegal, plot-breeding organization which served as a tool for the hegemonic policy of the U.S. and other Western countries to stamp out a sovereign state's right to existence.

The international community has already turned its back to not only the panel of experts assisting the UNSC anti-DPRK sanctions committee that deceived the world people through the spread of fabrications and red herrings but also the forces who regard the UN as a lever for dominating the world.

The hostile forces may set up the second and third expert panels in the future but they are all bound to meet self-destruction with the passage of time.

If the U.S. and its followers persistently pursue the anachronistic hostile policy toward the DPRK, instead of drawing a lesson from the recent case, they will face a more miserable strategic defeat. -0-

Britain Drives European Continent into Disaster of War

Pyongyang, May 6 (KCNA) -- Sim Min, an international affairs analyst of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, released the following article titled "Britain drives the European continent into a disaster of war":

British Foreign Secretary Cameron promised to offer Ukraine military support worth £3 billion a year on his visit to Kiev on May 2, adding that he is not opposed to the use of weapons delivered by his country for the attack on the Russian territory.

This is not the first time that the British foreign secretary steeped in anti-Russian confrontation to the marrow of his bones uttered bellicose words. It is well known that Britain is making extreme efforts in the van of military aid to the Zelenskiy authorities.

As already known, after the outbreak of the Ukrainian crisis, Britain provided the Zelenskiy puppet authorities with various kinds of weapons and equipment including MBTs, multiple rocket launchers and depleted uranium bombs. In May 2023, in particular, it handed over long-range cruise missiles to them before anyone else, thus revealing its hostile nature towards Russia.

The recent green light given by Cameron to the use of British weapons in the attack on the Russian territory proves that Britain is making desperate efforts to drive the Zelenskiy authorities into reckless attack deep inside the Russian territory so as to control the war situation of Ukraine getting worse day by day.

There is a saying in Europe that the tongue is more venomous than a serpent's sting.

A chief diplomat representing a country would surely know that an imprudent word of his own might bring about a dangerous crisis in which the flames of the Ukrainian war spread into Russia and again into the European region, and that innocent inhabitants might suffer catastrophic calamities and disasters in this vicious cycle.

Nonetheless, Cameron let out such nonsensical violent words unhesitatingly. Lurking behind this is the sinister intention of the British "gentlemen" to prolong the remaining days of the Zelenskiy authorities, which are now being driven into a tight corner due to the powerful military offensive of the Russian armed forces, and to drive even the last Ukrainian to the proxy war against Russia.

The question is by relying on whom are the weak descendants of "the British Empire", which had been already buried in the grave of history a century ago, running amuck recklessly to destroy the security of Europe by themselves and spark off a new world war.

Scrutinizing the entity of Britain which regards submission to the U.S. and blind worship of it as its physiology, it is quite probable that the U.S. master, who is working hard to prevent the revival of powerful Russia by mobilizing its inferior allies, has exercised an influence.

It is by no means fortuitous that the British foreign secretary flew to Washington before his trip to Kiev and put their heads together over the issue of expanding military support to Ukraine over a long time.

The Russian armed forces, which are now taking the firm initiative on the whole of the Ukrainian front while turning the U.S. and NATO's weapons and equipment into a heap of burning scrap iron, express their firm will to make British military support have no effect on the performance of special military operations and obliterate all British weapons.

Any military threat and blackmail of the U.S., Britain and other Western countries cannot damp the brave fighting spirit of the Russian army and people to firmly defend the sovereign right and security interests of the state. -0-

Pyongyang, April 30 (KCNA) -- Kim Jong Un, president of the State Affairs of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, sent a reply message to Bashar Al-Assad, president of the Syrian Arab Republic, on April 27.

Respected Comrade Kim Jong Un Has Photo Session with Participants in 5th National Conference of Heads of Branch Public Security Stations

 Pyongyang, May 6 (KCNA) -- Kim Jong Un, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and president of the State Affairs of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, had a photo session with the participants in the 5th National Conference of Heads of Branch Public Security Stations on May 5.

Present there were Ri Thae Sop, minister of Public Security, and Sim Hong Bin, director of the Political Bureau of the Ministry of Public Security.

The venue of photo session was filled with deep emotion and joy of the participants who were to have a photo taken with the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un whom they always wanted to see for so much.

When Kim Jong Un appeared at the venue, all the participants broke into stormy cheers of "Hurrah!"

They paid highest tribute to Kim Jong Un who has led the public security organ to fulfill its important mission in every aspect of its work with his outstanding ideology and energetic leadership and provided them that day with the highest honor for which they wished so much.

Waving back, he warmly encouraged the heads of branch public security stations across the country who are devoting themselves to defending the revolution, social system and people.

Strengthening the branch public security stations means consolidating the public security organ and the vigorous activities of the heads of stations lead to the fighting efficiency of the stations, he said, adding that the heads of the branch public security stations and security officers living nearest to the people should become faithful guardians who take loving care of the people while holding fast to high revolutionary principles and class principles, "family members" who always share joy and sorrow with them, sharp blades in resolutely struggling against all the elements that encroach upon the socialist country and competent political activists who redouble the confidence in the revolutionary cause cherished in the people's minds.

The commander of the US "Space Force " whilst visiting Japan and the puppet ROK tried to deny the DPRK's independent right to space exploration saying it was a violation of "UN resolutions " .

The very fact that a US Space Force even exists in the first place shows that the US expansionist and aggressive ambitions extend beyond the planet and that the US want to colonise outer space !

The US has no place to take issue with the DPRK's launch of a reconnaissance satellite . As the spokesman of the DPRK NATA pointed out "The U.S., the biggest spy satellite possessor in the world, has conducted interceptor weapon system tests for destroying foreign artificial satellites more than any others. Worse still, it finds fault with the DPRK over its legitimate right to military reconnaissance satellite launch. Irony is that it brought up for discussion a draft resolution on banning space nuclear weaponry deployment at the UNSC. This is, indeed, preposterous and impudent act based on double standards"

The US is clearly trying to militarise space. The US imperialists are also trying to assist the south Korean puppets in their aggression against the DPRK , they have offered spy satellites to south Korea and carried out joint military space exercises with south Korea.

It is the sovereign right of the DPRK to increase its reconnaissance capabilities and  monitor the moves of the US against People's Korea !

Recently the US issued the " "Country Reports on Human Rights Practices for 2023" which maliciously slandered the DPRK and impinged upon its dignity . The DPRK Foreign Ministry has issued a statement denouncing the so-called report of the US . We strongly support the denunciation .

There are no 'human rights ' issues in the DPRK because it is a people-centred socialist state . Visiting the DPRK we witnessed that the police presence in the DPRK is minimal unlike some countries .

Really there is no need for the US to issue reports about the human rights situations  as  it  not its business. This is blatant interference in the internal affairs of other countries .

Rather the US should address its own appalling human rights situation . As the press statement of the spokesman of the DPRK FM  points out "Even at this moment, it is the U.S. which is fostering massacres of innocent civilians through overseas military aid of tens of billions of U.S. dollars and it is also the U.S. where the serious human rights abuses such as institutional suppression of its people, confrontations between nations, races and religions and all kinds of crimes of violence and maltreatment of immigrants are rampant".

The US is the number one abuser of human rights of the world .

Moreover the US imperialists are openly talking about infiltrating their corrupt ideology and culture into the DPRK in a bid to overthrow the socialist system .

Press Statement by Spokesman for NATA of DPRK

Pyongyang, April 27 (KCNA) -- A spokesman for the National Aerospace Technology Administration (NATA) of the DPRK, released the following press statement "U.S. hegemonic attempt to militarize outer space into war theater is principal threat to global peace and security" on Saturday:

The U.S. has gone beyond the red line in its hegemonic attempt to deprive the independent sovereign states of their rights to space development and militarize outer space and turn such common wealth of humankind into a war theater.

The commander of the U.S. Space Force during his recent visits to puppet ROK and Japan said that he urges north Korea to refrain from launching space projectiles or missiles as such action constitutes a "violation of UN resolution."

We vehemently denounce and reject this, expressing serious concern over such hegemonic attempt of the U.S. as categorically denying the DPRK's just right to space development and legitimate right to self-defence and using outer space as a military means to deter other countries.

The U.S., the biggest spy satellite possessor in the world, has conducted interceptor weapon system tests for destroying foreign artificial satellites more than any others. Worse still, it finds fault with the DPRK over its legitimate right to military reconnaissance satellite launch. Irony is that it brought up for discussion a draft resolution on banning space nuclear weaponry deployment at the UNSC. This is, indeed, preposterous and impudent act based on double standards.

Shortly ago, the U.S. conducted the seventh launch of unmanned space vehicle X-37B with a mission to destroy satellites of an "enemy state" in outer space and staged Global Sentinel, a joint space drill simulating war in outer space, with its vassal countries. This clearly proves who the arch criminal of militarizing outer space is.

The most typical example of extremely dangerous U.S. space militarization is found on the Korean peninsula region.

In April alone, the U.S. offered a space vehicle to the puppet ROK to launch its second spy satellite aimed at securing the capability for a preemptive strike on the DPRK. From April 12 to 26, it conducted with the puppet ROK a joint space operation drill which is aimed at mounting "precision strikes" at military bases of the DPRK on the basis of real-time information collected by the U.S. Space Force through spy satellites.

Due to the U.S. reckless and risky space militarization, the strategic balance may collapse any moment to give rise to actual wars among regional countries in the Asia-Pacific region and such possibility is ever-increasing.

The hegemonic attempt of the U.S. to militarize outer space and turn it into a war theater is a principal threat to global peace and security at present.

Given that the U.S. is bringing its space forces massively to the Korean peninsula and its vicinity to speed up its space militarization whose ultimate goal is preemptive nuclear attack, the space development project, including military satellite launch, is a strategic choice indispensable for guaranteeing our country's security, interests and right to existence.

The National Aerospace Technology Administration of the DPRK will invariably carry on its important duty, as planned, to strictly monitor and grasp the ever-escalating military maneuvers and aggression attempts of the U.S. and other hostile forces in outer space and all other spheres and to enhance the space reconnaissance capabilities for creditably ensuring the national security. -0-

Press Statement by Spokesman for DPRK Foreign Ministry

Pyongyang, April 27 (KCNA) -- A spokesman for the Foreign Ministry of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) released the following press statement on Saturday:

The U.S. again malignantly slandered the DPRK through the publication of "Country Reports on Human Rights Practices for 2023".

The DPRK Foreign Ministry resolutely denounces and rejects the U.S. Department of State's publication of "reports on human rights", full of lies, fabrications, prejudice and hostility, and strongly warns the U.S. to stop its illegal interference in the sovereignty and internal affairs of the DPRK.

The U.S. farce of making "reports on human rights" has nothing to do with ensuring genuine human rights, and it is nothing but basic data necessary for tarnishing the image of other countries incurring its displeasure and for justifying its interference in their internal affairs and scheme to bring down their social systems.

If the U.S. Department of State regards it as its own business which can never be overlooked to make "reports on human rights", it will be reasonable to write a confession frankly admitting the human rights situation in the U.S. before anything else and then to be judged fairly by other countries.

Whenever the U.S. finds fault with other countries with its own "human rights standard", the international community first of all examine the horrible human rights situation of the U.S. widely recognized as the worst in the world.

Even at this moment, it is the U.S. which is fostering massacres of innocent civilians through overseas military aid of tens of billions of U.S. dollars and it is also the U.S. where the serious human rights abuses such as institutional suppression of its people, confrontations between nations, races and religions and all kinds of crimes of violence and maltreatment of immigrants are rampant.

The assertion about the influx of information into the DPRK, recently made by high-ranking officials of the Biden administration including the "envoy for the human rights issue" of the U.S. State Department whenever an opportunity presents itself, is a manifestation of the extremely sinister political plot and a dangerous political provocation to undermine the social system in the DPRK in the long-run.

Now that the U.S. is hell-bent on hostile acts against the DPRK, regarding "human rights" racket as the main means of aggression, together with military threat, the DPRK will have to take into consideration the resolute and decisive option for defending the sovereignty and security of the state in an all-round way.

There is no limit to the DPRK's counteraction for defending its social system, sovereignty and national interests. -0-

Today Association for the Study of Songun Politics UK(ASSPUK), the British Group for the Study of the  Juche Idea(BGSJI) and the Korean Friendship Association of the UK( KFA UK), issued a joint statement in support of the press statement of comrade Kim Un Chol , vice-minister for U.S. affairs of the Foreign Ministry of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) that was issued on the 25th of April ;

Comrade Kim Un Chol made public a press statement on the 25th of April which exposed and denounced the attempts of the US imperialists to prop and up the sanctions against the DPRK which are now falling apart due to the opposition of some countries  and declining US hegemony over the world.

As pointed out by the press statement of comrade Kim Un Chol  it is actually irrelevant whether the US enforces sanctions through the UN Security Council, or by other means including mobilising its puppets and vassals to enforce ,because the DPRK has always lived under sanctions . They are nothing new .Moreover the sanctions of the US and other imperialists actually harden the will and resolve of  the Korean people against the US imperialists .

Any further moves of the US to tighten sanctions against the DPRK will result the DPRK taking more measures to increase its military capacity which the US will not like .

As comrade Kim Un Chol says  "The U.S. can never deprive the DPRK of its self-respect, its strength and its will to counter the U.S. What the DPRK will lose in the confrontation with the U.S. is the chain of sanctions and the nuclear threat and what the former will gain there is its eternal security and prosperity."

We support the resolute anti-imperialist stance of the DPRK to respond to the US sanctions by boosting its military capacity .

Respected Comrade Kim Jong Un Pays Congratulatory Visit to Kim Il Sung Military University

 

Pyongyang, April 26 (KCNA) -- Kim Jong Un, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) and president of the State Affairs of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, paid a congratulatory visit to Kim Il Sung Military University, the highest institute of military education in the DPRK, on April 25, the 92nd founding anniversary of the Korean People's Revolutionary Army.

All the teaching staff and students of the university were greatly excited and delighted at the highest honor and privilege of meeting the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un on their campus on the founding anniversary of the first genuine armed forces of Korea at a time when the powerful and matchless self-defensive capabilities of the revolutionary armed forces, which reliably guarantee the prosperity of the country with arms, are being fully demonstrated to the whole world.

When Kim Jong Un arrived at the university, stormy cheers of "Hurrah!" for the great Supreme Commander, symbol of the mightiness of Juche Korea and ever-victorious banner, were raised, rocking the sky in auspicious April.

He received a salute from the president of the university.

He was presented with bouquets by an educator and a student of the university in reflection of the boundless reverence of the officers and men of the entire army.

Acknowledging the enthusiastic cheers, he warmly encouraged all the teaching staff and students who are faithfully upholding the Party's ideas and cause of building a powerful army at the university which is linked with the precious name and glorious history of our revolutionary armed forces and constitutes the inexhaustible motive force for their heroism and invincibility.

He was accompanied by Pak Jong Chon, vice-chairman of the Central Military Commission of the WPK and secretary of the C.C., WPK, Kang Sun Nam, minister of National Defence of the DPRK, Ri Yong Gil, chief of the General Staff of the Korean People's Army (KPA), commanders of the services and large combined units of the KPA.

He made a speech during his congratulatory visit to the university.

"Teachers, researchers and students of Kim Il Sung Military University,

"Comrades,

"On the significant anniversary of the birth of the first armed forces of Korea, I have visited Kim Il Sung Military University, the 'eldest son' institution of military education in the country and a reliable 'pedigree' institution for training core cadres of our army. I am very glad and moved to meet you comrades.

"Today, we are significantly celebrating the anniversary of the founding of the Korean People's Revolutionary Army and are looking back upon the profound meaning of its founding with due respect. When its founding was the beginning of the prominent and sacred history of our army, the founding of

Kim Il Sung Military University and the history of its development are a proud course that laid an ever-victorious cornerstone for the army's vigorous advance.

"Thanks to the core role played by competent military personnel, our revolutionary armed forces have followed only the road of victory for over 90 years, and Kim Il Sung Military University has stood in the vanguard of the efforts for achieving those brilliant exploits.

"There is no other military academy or comprehensive military educational and scientific base in the world than this university, founded in the days of a fierce war, has made distinguished contributions to the strengthening of the military capability and to the revolutionary cause, maintaining its traditions and history as the combat ranks most faithful to the Party.

"Numerous military commanders, sturdy 'sons' born of this university, are now defending all fronts and posts firmly in various parts of the country and adding dignity and honour to the exploits of legendary victories performed by the Korean People's Army. This fact alone is enough for praising the name of the university forever.

"On behalf of the Central Committee of the Party and the government of the Republic, I highly appreciate and express sincere thanks to all the teachers, researchers and officials of Kim Il Sung Military University, who have firmly guaranteed the mightiness and invincibility of the heroic Korean People's Army and have remained boundlessly faithful to the Party's ideas and leadership from one century into the next and from one generation into the next with their matchless patriotic devotion and outstanding educational and scientific achievements.

"Comrades,

"A powerful army represents the pillar and future of a powerful country, and the existence and prosperity of a state depend entirely on the strength of its military capability.

"Just as a house does not collapse when its pillars are strong, so our powerful People's Army and military capability can be prepared only when the forces that constitute the hard core of the army are firmly prepared.

"In view of the sacred mission of defending the country's sovereignty and ensuring peace and security that our army has shouldered and the high sense of responsibility for the future of the country and revolution that our army should shape in the vanguard, it is the main duty of Kim Il Sung Military University to train a larger number of military talents fully prepared for modern warfare and reliable military commanders of the army of the Party.

"The more faithful the university is to its sacred duty, the greater our army's militant might will grow in every way and, in direct proportion to this, the greater the enemy's uneasiness and fear will become.

"As long as this military university, the cradle for growing our army and the base for guaranteeing victory of our army, remains firm as a university absolutely loyal to the Party, as a base of a revolution in war tactics that would decide the destiny of a revolutionary war and as a base for training military talents, the wheel of history following the victorious road will never turn back.

"The first generation of our armed forces recorded sacred ideals and the truth of invincibility in the sacred red flag. Our generation has shouldered an extraordinary mission to bring into bolder relief the ideals and truth in our era and in the history facing us with a great victory in war.

"At this time, when we feel keenly once again the sacred duty of our army before the times and the revolution, together with the profound historic meaning of the founding of the KPRA, I ardently appeal to all the teachers, researchers and students present here on the significant occasion.

"For our beloved state and for the far-reaching plan of our army, which will demonstrate its strongest might in the world for ever, let us faithfully serve with a steadfast revolutionary spirit, with a transformation in military education and with a passion for studying.

"Glory to the bright future of the university!"

When the speech was over, all the teaching staff and students paid the highest tribute to the peerlessly illustrious commander who is ushering in a gigantic new heyday in building a prosperous country with a strong army while glorifying the dignity and the history of heroic victory of the revolutionary armed forces of the DPRK originated in Mt Paektu at the climax of the greatest strength and honor.

Kim Jong Un again extended warm congratulations to the teaching staff and students celebrating the truly significant and glorious anniversary for the WPK, the state and the people with great pride in the sacred history and will of succession.

He went round the revolutionary museum and the room dedicated to the history of the university.

He recollected with deep emotion the immortal historic achievements of President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il, who founded the university during the life-and-death hard-fought Fatherland Liberation War and, through energetic leadership, developed it into a world-class university with the history and prestige of adding an invincible spirit and grandiose fame to the brilliant victorious history of the armed forces of the DPRK and into a centre for training the core backbone of the KPA.

He called on the university, which has shared the intention and pace with the Party single-mindedly in the days of both glory and ordeals, to invariably glorify the history and tradition of loyalty and more creditably train a large number of competent commanding officers who would firmly guarantee the eternal history of an independent and powerful country by force of arms.

After seeing a class at lesson in a lecture room and a seminar at a room for studying educational methods, guided by senior officials of the university, he learned in detail in the combined teaching control room about the updating of education and expressed great satisfaction over the educational achievements made by the university.

Noting that the military educational front is a bulwark and outpost for strengthening the core position of the army of the Party, he said that when the future of the revolutionary cause of Juche pioneered on Mt Paektu depends on the mightiness and matchless fighting efficiency of the KPA, the fighting efficiency of the KPA to be steadily developed in conformity with the present era should be guaranteed by high abilities and excellent teaching results of the university teachers.

He set forth important tasks and ways for putting the educational work of the university onto a new high, stressing the need to train all students to be intelligent and brave all-round commanding officers possessed of absolute loyalty to the Party and the revolution and high military qualifications by consistently holding fast to and thoroughly implementing the Party's four-point line on building a powerful army and the Party's policy on putting the military educational contents on an actual fighting, comprehensive and modern basis.

He had a photo session with the teaching staff and students in commemoration of his visit to the university.

All the teaching staff and students extended deep gratitude to the great teacher and benevolent father who clearly indicated the road ahead of the university with his gifted ideological and theoretical wisdom and rare scientific insight and repeatedly showed deep love and trust.

He expressed expectation and belief that the university would, in the future, too, invariably demonstrate the dignity and honor of having guaranteed the eternal prosperity of our revolutionary armed forces with the proud successes of military education and lead a new period of surge in building a powerful army.

When the photo session was over, the participants broke into stormy cheers of "Kim Jong Un" and "Death-defying Defence".

Then Kim Jong Un watched a football match between the teams of Kim Il Sung Military University and Kim Il Sung University of Politics held on the occasion of the founding anniversary of the KPRA.

The stadium was full of joy and optimism of the cheering persons and the players who were to play a match in the presence of the respected Supreme Commander whom they had yearned for so much.

The match ended with the victory of the team of the military university.

That evening the Ministry of National Defence of the DPRK hosted a reception in congratulation of the teaching staff of Kim Il Sung Military University greeting the holiday.

Present there on invitation were senior officials of the WPK Central Committee.

Minister of National Defence Kang Sun Nam made a speech at the reception.

The reception proceeded amid a soaring will of the participants to remain loyal to the Party's idea of building a powerful army through a rapid development of military education.

The congratulatory visit to Kim Il Sung Military University paid by Kim Jong Un on a significant holiday in the army-building history will shine long in the history of the country as an occasion which injected an endless vitality into the glorious journey of the revolutionary armed forces of the DPRK which are steadily carrying forward the ever-victorious tradition of the revolutionary army of the Party, which was born with the two pistols loaded with the idea of Juche, with eternal heroism and great fame and are victoriously developing with an aim to possess the world's strongest self-defence capability. -0-
