As we approach the 82nd anniversary of the birth of the great leader comrade KIM JONG IL on snow-swept Mt Paekdu on the 16th of February, The Association for the Study of Songun Politics UK, the British Group for the Study of the Juche Idea, the Korean Friendship Association of the U and UK Preparatory Committee for the Day of the Shining Star have drawn up a reading list to help people understand better why we mark this event
The Korean nation, with a 5 000-year history and time-honoured traditions, has created countless treasures in the musical and artistic field. Among them are traditional musical instruments embodying the people’s wisdom, talent and emotion.
These instruments are diverse, numbering a few hundreds of kinds–tanso, jottae, thungso, saenap, phiri, kayagum, yanggum, janggo, puk, jing, etc. Many of them have two to three, and more than ten at the most, variants each.
Some of the instruments date back to the years before Christ. In the period of Koguryo (277 BC-AD 668), the first feudal state of Korea there appeared a complete set of wind, stringed and percussion instruments for orchestral music and march music.
Every one of these instruments has its peculiar timbre.
The woodwind instruments like tanso and jottae have clear and distinctive timbre, and the stringed ones such as kayagum and haegum have soft and elegant timbre. Jottae has an enchanting tone; tanso sounds as clear and beautiful as the chirping of birds; and saenap produces an elegant sound and arouses a blend of feelings. In particular, kayagum is widely known for its elastic and soft timbre. The orchestral piece A Bumper Harvest in the Chongsan Plain, played by peculiar-sounding traditional instruments, is one of the Koreans’ special favourites.
The traditional instruments have now been improved, and they are contributing to the development of traditional music. In particular, oungum and okryugum, newly invented to highlight the peculiar timbres of Korea’s traditional music, are unique and varied in playing methods, so they play an important role in creating various forms of music like solo and ensemble.
The playing of traditional instruments can be heard everywhere in the country–factories, farms, schools and houses, to say nothing of professional art troupes.
In the capital city of Pyongyang there is a factory specializing in the production of traditional instruments.
Launching-Drill of Strategic Cruise Missile Conducted
Pyongyang, January 31 (KCNA) -- The Korean People's Army (KPA) staged a drill of launching strategic cruise missile "Hwasal-2" in the West Sea of Korea on January 30.
The drill made a contribution to checking the KPA's rapid counterattack posture and improving its strategic striking capability and had no adverse effect on the security of a neighboring country. -0-

Pyongyang, January 29 (KCNA) -- Shortly ago, the Iranian navy captured the U.S. oil tanker St Nikolas in the Oman Sea.
The ship, which was used by the U.S. to carry the Iranian oil "seized" at sea through an "operation for implementing sanctions" in April last year, has been detained and handed over to the judicial authorities of Iran.
It is not the first time that the U.S. plundered oil under the pretext of "implementing sanctions" against Iran.
In November 2021, the U.S. tried to capture a tanker loaded with the oil exported by Iran in the Oman Sea but failed due to the Iranian armed forces' interruption, only exposing itself to disgrace before the world community.
In August 2020, the U.S. snatched nearly 1.12 million barrels of oil from a tanker carrying Iranian oil to Venezuela to gain a profit. And in February the following year, it seized another tanker in the waters off the United Arab Emirates, asserting that the ship is related to the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps of Iran, and plundered about 2 million barrels of oil and sold it for 110 million U.S. dollars.
As regards the recent capture of the U.S. oil tanker, Iran said that its action is a part of the retaliation against the U.S. oil-plundering act, declaring that "the days when the U.S. stole oil and ran away has gone and we will not allow the U.S. to threaten our country in the region."
It is a deserved punishment for the U.S., the kingpin of modern-day "pirate" who does not hesitate to commit such heinous crimes as seizing other country's resources in broad daylight, not content with fattening through aggression and plunder.
The "piracy" by the U.S. is not confined to Iran only.
After being stationed in Syria in a conspiratorial and brigandish way, the U.S. has stretched its tentacles of robbery not only to oil but also to grain, cotton and other agricultural products.
Early in January 2023, it plundered oil and wheat by mobilizing 60 tankers and trucks, and in December alone, stole a large amount of oil and food twice from Syria which suffered from earthquake damage.
The U.S., engrossed in plundering and robbery in different parts of the world, has disgraced itself from the outset of the year.
It is quite natural that the despicable plunder by the gangster-like U.S. is punished by justice. -0-

Pyongyang, January 29 (KCNA) -- Thanks to the wise guidance of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un who set forth the original orientation for the development of the Juche-based naval force and is dynamically leading the drive for realizing it, a test of a strategic weapon was conducted, clearly demonstrating that a great new era of bolstering up the naval force is being ushered in.
The test-fire serves as an occasion of demonstrating the rapid development of the Juche-based naval force and convincing the prospect of bolstering up the naval force of the DPRK.
Kim Jong Un's line of building the strategic force on expanding and strengthening the sphere of operation of the state nuclear deterrence in a diversified way is being carried out in a planned and radical way, accelerating the nuclear weaponization of our navy.
In the morning of January 28, Kim Jong Un guided the test-fire of the newly-developed submarine-launched strategic cruise missile "Pulhwasal-3-31", together with secretaries of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK), the commander of the Navy and other leading officials.
The cruise missiles flew in the sky above the East Sea for 7 421s and 7 445s to hit the island target.
The test-fire had no impact on the security of a neighboring country and has nothing to do with the regional situation.
Kim Jong Un expressed great satisfaction over the result of the test.
Saying that the prevailing situation and future threats urge the DPRK to put more spurs to the efforts for defending the maritime sovereignty, he stressed that the successes like today's one, which is of strategic significance in carrying out the plan of the WPK for modernizing the army aimed at building a powerful naval force, should be made one after another.
Reiterating that the nuclear weaponization of the navy is an urgent task of the times and a core requirement for building the state nuclear strategic force, he set forth the important tasks arising in realizing the nuclear weaponization of the navy and expanding the sphere of operation of the state nuclear deterrence in a diversified way.
That day he learned in detail about the building of a nuclear submarine.
He discussed the issues related to the building of a nuclear-powered submarine and other new-type warships, indicated the immediate tasks to be carried out by relevant sectors and state measures to be taken, and made an important conclusion on the ways to implement them. -0-

Pyongyang, January 28 (KCNA) -- The situation of the Korean peninsula is inching close to the brink of war, owing to the U.S-led hostile forces' moves to stifle the DPRK by force of arms.
The U.S. and the gangsters of the puppet ROK conducted so-called "cyber alliance training" from January 15 to 26.
This training, staged for the first time under the pretext of "beefing up the system for cyber cooperation", was aimed at getting familiar with cyber war. It is an extension of the war provocation moves of the U.S. and its vassal forces which are escalating their reckless military maneuvers, publicly trumpeting about the "end of regime" in the DPRK.
The U.S. and its minions staged a series of joint military exercises targeting the DPRK in the air, land and sea on and around the Korean peninsula by mobilizing all sorts of nuclear strategic assets in less than one month this year.
On Jan. 4, the U.S. staged the first joint combat firing drill in Phochon of Kyonggi Province with the puppet military rogues, touting "strengthened operation capability of alliance".
Besides, it frantically staged a joint naval drill with warships of the Japan maritime "Self-Defense Force" and the puppet navy for three days from Jan. 15, calling for "enhancing the capacity to cope with nuclear and missile threats" from the DPRK. Involved in the drill were the U.S. nuclear carrier Carl Vinson and Aegis cruiser Princeton.
On Jan. 18, there took place a joint air drill in the sky above the East Sea of Korea under the signboard of "reinforced deterrence and responsive forces". Involved in it were two B-1B nuclear strategic bombers of the U.S. air force and F-15 fighter jets of the Japan air "Self-Defense Force".
In parallel with this, different reconnaissance assets commit spying activities against the DPRK.
On Jan. 22, a RC-135 reconnaissance plane of the U.S. air force made a provocative intelligence flight in the sky above the east and west seas of Korea openly for a long time, and even the puppet group went so reckless as to mobilize E-737 AWACS to spy on the DPRK.
When the crow flies, her tail follows. The current situation, in which frantic nuclear war drills are being staged against the DPRK from the outset of the new year, requires the DPRK to be fully prepared for a war and thoroughly deter the U.S. and its stooges' invasion with overwhelming power.

I am answering your questions which seems very hostile .
There is no tyranny in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK ) or as I prefer to call it People's Korea or Socialist Korea or Juche Korea.
In the DPRK there is the people-centred socialist system under which people enjoy free health care , free housing , free education , the right to work , low cost public transport . Everyone is supplied with food at low cost by the state and there is even free uniforms and school bags for kids and also free holidays for workers . The government is elected and people exercises power through the Supreme People's Assembly and people's assemblies at all levels.
After the supreme leader passes away the Party and the people of the DPRK will decide on a new leader but I cannot speculate on who this will be .
If by "radical change " you mean the overthrow of the socialist system and the restoration of capitalism , that will never happen . The Korean people love the socialist system and value it with their own lives .

Chairman British Group for the Study of the Juche idea
The annual General Meeting of the Korean Friendship Association of the UK (KFA UK ) was held on the 24th of January at 1900 via Skype.
It was participated in by KFA UK members from London , West of England ,Liverpool , Staffordshire , Scotland and other regions of the UK . Attending as observers were members of KFA Germany including the chairman of KFA Germany.
The meeting started with the hymn of the Korean Friendship Association ‘ The Song of National Defence ‘ . A short message from the President of the Korean Friendship Association comrade Alejandro Cao De Benos was read out and the chairman of KFA Germany also made a short address to the meeting .
Dr Dermot Hudson , Chairman of KFA UK introduced the meeting stressing the importance of the meeting as it will chart the way ahead for KFA UK in the coming year.
In his report Dr Hudson said that “During the past year which saw the 75th anniversary of the foundation of the Korean People’s Army as the regular revolutionary armed force of the DPRK , the 70th anniversary of the victory in the great Fatherland Liberation War and the 75th anniversary of the foundation of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea in September . KFA UK played its part in these celebrations . Firstly , KFA UK contributed a seminar paper to the KFA International Online seminar on the 75th anniversary of the foundation of the Korean People’s Army , secondly , we sent a seminar paper to the KFA International Seminar in July for the 70th anniversary of the victory of the Korean people in the great Fatherland Liberation War against the US imperialist aggressors and in September KFA UK hosted the European Regional Seminar for Friendship, Solidarity and Exchange for the 75th anniversary of the foundation of the DPRK which involved both a hybrid event in the Marchmont Centre , London and an online meeting over two weekends”
Dr Hudson said that in the coming year KFA UK must be more energetic and proactive and called for the stepping up of activities against south Korea and the US as well marking important anniversaries of the DPRK .
In his report comrade Alan Bolon KFA UK Organisation Secretary said that “Last year, we successfully conducted many protests and seminars, both online and in person. New forms of activity have developed, which, in my opinion, has had a positive impact on the development of KFA UK and the increase in the profile of the organization in its professional style of work and activity.”
Dr Hudson was re-elected as KFA UK Chairman and comrade Alan Bolon was re-elected Organisation Secretary for another .
Reports from Regional branches in the West of England , Scotland and Staffordshire were heard and also the financial report of KFA UK .
An award of “'Outstanding Merit' was awarded to the Chairman of KFA Scotland .
A proposal to organise a European wide Regional Forum in late June or early July was approved .
Discussions were held on the way forward for KFA UK and many new suggestions were made .It was also proposed to discuss at a later date ideas of how to engage with other organisations whilst preserving the independence , autonomy and integrity of KFA UK .

The Korean Central News Agency reported the truth behind the incident that occurred in the East Sea.
The news stirred the whole world and the American empire was in uproar. The US imperialists screamed that it was "the first warship captured in the sea since the end of US civil war" and it was the "shame of the United States". The then US President Johnson declared his "will of retaliation".
The United States had the impudence to claim that the "Pueblo" was a marine research ship and it was on the open sea. And it dispatched to the Korean peninsula its aggressive armed forces including aircraft carrier capable of fighting a war.
When the world's attention was focussed on the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, a bombshell announcement of slashing at the US imperialists was made in Korea.
Return retaliation for "retaliation" and all-out war for all-out war!
The DPRK confronted the US aircraft carrier and atomic bomb with a posture of all-people resistance.
Hundreds of thousand youth and students volunteered to join the Korean People's Army and the whole country was all afire with the enthusiasm of all people for donating tanks and planes.
Confessions of captives and corroborative facts were opened to the public one by one and the DPRK government expressed its resolute stand not to show mercy to the captives if a bomb dropped on the Korean territory. Discouraged by it, the United States presented the card of compromise begging for sending back the crew in return for a "receipt" it would write. But there was no change in the attitude of the DPRK.
The DPRK demanded the US government make an official apology.
Hero of the DPRK Pak In Ho, the then executive officer for political affairs of submarine chaser No. 35 that captured the "Pueblo", says:
"The captives of the 'Pueblo' were embarrassed at the impudent attitude of the US government to evade apology with irrational insistence. As they were moved by the humanitarian leniency of our Republic, they had enmity against their government trying to throw them away like a worn-out sandal. They wrote letters of confession, apology and petition one after another. A press conference was held with the participation of about 80 journalists from 34 countries and officials concerned, which witnessed a tragicomedy.
The moment when the journalists were about to leave after the press conference, Lloyd Mark Bucher, the captain of the 'Pueblo', suddenly jumped on a chair. Without minding the honour of officer as an international gentleman, he vented his anger on the US government in front of the journalists.
He said that if the US government, which should bear the moral responsibility for the action of the soldiers executing its orders, evades its liability for it, they would be referred to a trial in Korea and in that case, some of them would be sentenced to death and others long-term imprisonment.
Really miserable were the captives of the 'Pueblo' who implored the world to help them."
At last, the United States knelt down before the DPRK.
At the Panmunjom meeting on December 23, 1968, Major General of the US Army Gilbert H. Woodward signed an instrument of apology on behalf of the US government and submitted it to the DPRK government. The dignified name--"the Democratic People's Republic of Korea"--was specified as many as 10 times in the two long sentences. Such submissive attitude of the United States struck the world with wonder.
The captives were expelled through Panmunjom from the DPRK territory and the "Pueblo" incident that lasted for 11 months was concluded.
The "Pueblo" incident was a world's grave event to be specially recorded in the 20th century.
Tens of years has passed since then but the warship of the United States, the "only superpower" in the world, is still stuck in the River Pothong of Pyongyang, the capital of the DPRK, like a prisoner.
The "Pueblo" incident 56 years ago tells us the truth that in the confrontation with the enemy concession precisely means surrender, submission and ruin and that the rising generations must never show any mercy to the aggressors.

1. "This Is the Territorial Waters of the DPRK"
On the morning of January 23, 1968 the Navy of the Korean People's Army detected an unidentified ship which illegally intruded into the spot 7.6 miles from Ryo Island in the waters off Wonsan of Kangwon Province.
It had sharply watched the ship cunningly sailing in and out of the territorial waters of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea like an alley cat. A warship of the Navy of the KPA sailed out. It checked the ship and made a signal.
"This is the territorial waters of the DPRK. Prove your nationality!"
The warship was submarine chaser No. 35 which won fame later as a symbol of the invincible Navy of the KPA in the history of the DPRK-US showdown.
Here is Kim Jung Rok who was a seaman of the submarine chaser at that time.
"At that time, the unidentified ship attempted to run away, outrageously ignoring our repeated signal for proving its nationality; This is a hydrographic survey ship. We will repair the engine and go out of your territorial waters. Don't interfere.
Our fighters and torpedo boats came.
The submarine chaser gave the final warning.
'If you don't prove your nationality within two minutes, we will fire!'
Then, the aggressor ship dared to fire a machine-gun for provocation. We showered a fire of merciless retaliation on it. Those rushing to the armoury fell down and the frightened enemy gave up escaping and stopped the ship. At last, a flag was hoisted at the mast of the pirate ship. It was the Stars and Stripes of the US imperialists."
According to the confession of captives afterwards, they miscalculated that the warships of any country would withdraw at the sight of the Stars and Stripes like on the Caribbean Sea. On the contrary, the national flag of the US imperialist Yankees exploded the resentment of our seamen like detonating powder.
Seven seamen including Kim Jung Rok organized a death-defying corps and jumped on to the enemy ship.
The Stars and Stripes the US imperialists had used to hoist at the mast, arrogantly saying "it is never hauled down", was torn to pieces and trampled underfoot by our seaman. The captain knelt down before the muzzle of a rifle and issued an order to surrender, throwing away the US naval spirit of going down with the ship and fighting it out.
The captured pirate ship was the armed spy ship "Pueblo" of the US imperialists.
Adapted from a transport ship, the "Pueblo" looked like a marine research ship. It was an armed spy ship belonging to the Pacific Fleet of the US imperialist aggressor army. It had latest espionage equipment and most of its 83 crew were spies with rich experience and technology needed for espionage acts. At the time of capture, there were a large-calibre machine gun and tens of small arms on the ship.
The captives confessed that their espionage acts were inexcusable, open acts of aggression and crimes of violating the elementary international law.
Three Heroes of the DPRK were produced in the battle for capturing the "Pueblo" which demonstrated the invincible spirit and fighting efficiency of the heroic KPA all over the world.
The world boiled up, but the sea of Korea remained calm. The US imperialists sent huge armed forces including aircraft carrier and flying corps, talking about "retaliation", but they did not dare to step into the territorial waters of the DPRK.
The territorial waters of the DPRK were a pit of death to the pirates. The "Pueblo" was entrapped in the bottomless pit. Both the enemy and the world were keeping an eye on the poor captive with uneasiness.
Pyongyang, January 25 (KCNA) -- The Missile Administration of the DPRK conducted the first test-fire of the new-type strategic cruise missile "Pulhwasal-3-31" under development on January 24.
The test-fire had no impact on the security of neighboring countries and has nothing to do with the regional situation.
The Missile Administration explained that the test-fire is a process of constant updating of the weapon system and a regular and obligatory activity of the administration and its affiliated defence science institutes. -0-

Pyongyang, January 25 (KCNA) -- The Workers' Party of Korea, a genuine party for the people that regards it as its revolutionary climate and immutable mode of existence to believe in the people as in Heaven and make devoted service for them, declared the "regional development 20×10 policy" for the promotion of the people's well-being, to evoke lively response from among all the people of the country heralding dynamic advance of the country which will be vibrant with new civilization and new life of socialism and unprecedented great change.
The strategy for developing regional industry will bring into stark reality the brilliant change of simultaneous, balanced and rapid development of the whole country that has been desired with faith and optimism generation after generation in the arduous and long course of struggle. The strategy is a militant banner of overall national prosperity and immortal revolutionary principles comprehensively dealing with the sacred political idea, outlook on development and transparent spirit of service of the WPK, which regards the people's laughter and happiness as a symbol of the socialist system and standard of evaluation of national power.
Since the 10th Session of the 14th Supreme People's Assembly, the Party Central Committee has so far made profound study of ways for ensuring the unconditional implementation of the centuries-old desire cherished and hailed by all the people across the country and, on this basis, convened an important meeting to solemnly proclaim the thoroughgoing plan and strategy for practice.
The 19th Enlarged Meeting of the Political Bureau of the 8th Central Committee of the WPK was held from Jan. 23 to 24 to confirm and clarify an epochal milestone in the development of regional industry.
Kim Jong Un, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea, was present at the meeting.
When the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un appeared on the platform, all the participants broke into enthusiastic cheers.
They paid the highest tribute to the General Secretary of the WPK, the great pioneer and creator of the socialist civilization who is confidently bringing earlier the future of a prosperous power, where the people's dreams and ideals are fully translated into reality, with his profound ideo-theoretical activities and devoted efforts day and night.
Present at the meeting were members of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the WPK Central Committee, members and alternate members of the Political Bureau. Officials of the relevant departments of the WPK Central Committee, chief secretaries of provincial, city and county Party committees and people's committee chairpersons, heads of the organizational departments of the provincial Party committees, officials of provincial designing organs and the Cabinet related to the construction of regional industrial factories and officials of the relevant ministries and national institutions including the State Planning Commission and major commanding officers of the Korean People's Army were on hand as observers.
Upon authorization of the Political Bureau of the WPK Central Committee, Kim Jong Un presided over the meeting.
Recalling that at the 10th Session of the 14th Supreme People's Assembly the WPK and the DPRK government set forth the plan of setting it as an important national policy to remodel all the regional industrial factories in cities and counties across the country and pushing ahead with it by naming it the "regional development 20×10 policy", he said:
At the first short course for chief secretaries of the city and county Party committees in March 2021, three years ago, I gave directions to set the size of the regional industry factories in Kimhwa County to suit the actual conditions of the county, build them modernly as model ones and gain experience by putting their operation on a regular basis in keeping with the specific conditions of the county to weigh their effectiveness, profitability and possibility and, on this basis, to ensure that new modern regional industry factories are built in all the cities and counties across the country in the future, so that the basic material and cultural standards of the local people could be promoted and their rights and interests fully guaranteed to open up a new era of regional development.
As I briefly introduced in the policy speech made at the Supreme People's Assembly on January 15, Kimhwa County substantially benefits from it and has made it possible for us to have a clear understanding of the possibility of developing the material and cultural life of all cities, counties and regions across the country.
In consideration of the economic situation of the country and the implementation of this enormous task, some policy leadership departments of the Party and economic bodies were paying lip service while failing to find out realistic and revolutionary possibilities. And even at the recent plenary meeting they took passive attitude by proposing to build regional industry factories in only a few cities and counties where conditions are favorable and to step up preparations for the future construction in the remaining cities and counties.
I emphasize once again that if they are caught in unfavorable subjective and objective conditions and only sit idle in this way without revolutionary determination and courage, they should admit without saying a word or an excuse that they cannot properly implement our Party’s economic development policy on reducing the difference between towns and the countryside and developing the regional economy, nor can they ever bring about a marked change in the people's standard of living.
At present, it is a very urgent immediate task for leveling up the material and cultural living standards of the regional people to adopt a revolutionary strategy and take all measures to make it possible to develop regional industry in a comprehensive and balanced way by most effectively creating and using the economic resources and raw materials of cities and counties and to promote the peculiar development of each regional economy and expand the scope of investment in it while creating a climate of competition in order to accelerate diversified growth. And this is a very important, responsible and timely option and determination in the future-oriented aspect of our Party's policy on socialist regional development.
Today, failure to satisfactorily provide the people in local areas with basic living necessities including condiments, foodstuff and consumption goods has arisen as a serious political issue that our Party and government can never sidestep, he said.
The Party's "regional development 20×10 policy", which was clarified as a administrative policy at the recent session of the Supreme People's Assembly on the basis of the acknowledgement of such realities, is neither wishful thinking nor advertisement, he said, pointing out that it is a great epochal line grounded in the guarantee for its planned execution and another gigantic revolution for realizing the primary desire of local people and bringing about a radical change in the realm of people's understanding and the work for fulfilling their centuries-old desire.
This can't be properly done with impromptu ambition and passion but can be achieved only by means of revolutionary practice and action after adopting scientific fighting strategy, correct methodology and concrete measures in a well-knit and bold way, he said.
Now that the overall regional economy is in a terrible situation without elementary conditions and there are severe imbalance and huge gaps between regions in terms of their geographical circumstances, economic potential and living circumstances, specific plans and correct methods with a good chance of practice should be put forward before being accurately implemented according to scientific calculation so that we can bring about a substantial change with which to raise the living standards of basic material and cultural life of regional people to a higher level throughout the country in a short period of time, he said.
As we are now in the course of effecting a great change for the project of developing the countryside, which was already raised, through a grand struggle, fully aware of the importance and urgency of the building of a new socialist ideal rural construction in the light of the demand of the turning phase for ushering in a period of socialist comprehensive development, it is easier said than done to undertake and strictly carry out the overall development of regional industry, another front and another great revolutionary stage, he said, adding:
But I am going to do this.
Being passive is not constitutionally suitable.
Can we do this? Yes, we can and will do it. We must do it.
I will repay the expectations of the people even a bit by bringing about a substantial change in developing regional industry without fail.
It is an important principle to be maintained by the Party at present and a political fighting task to be executed for opening up the period of overall socialist development to direct primary efforts to bridging the gaps between urban and rural areas, and central and local areas in all domains, expediting the building of civilized society where everything develops all together, promoting the wellbeing of local people and protecting their rights and interests in particular and improving the regional and rural living circumstances.
As I stressed in the last policy speech, we should not sit by and wait till the situation and conditions turn favorable but find more jobs to be faithful to our duty for the sake of the people and adopt new policies and address ourselves to bringing them into practice full of confidence by assuming a sense of heavy responsibility for ourselves.
That's why we convened this enlarged meeting to discuss and determine the issues concerning the implementation of the "regional development 20×10 policy", he said, bringing up the agenda items for discussion at the meeting.
The issue of pushing ahead with the Party's "regional development 20×10 policy" was raised as the main agenda item and measures to be taken to achieve the speedy completion of major policy-oriented building projects and the independent development of every province, city and county were discussed at the enlarged meeting.

The Political Bureau of the Party Central Committee organized sectional study and consultative meetings to take measures for tackling economic and practical issues arising in implementing the "regional development 20×10 policy".

He called upon all the participants to examine in detail the economic and practical issues arising in implementing the policy and orient their study to making sure that the planned important work would come to practical fruition.

The voting right was granted to the alternate members of the Political Bureau of the Party Central Committee and all observers at the enlarged meeting, as suggested by the General Secretary.
A resolution on strongly promoting the implementation of the Party's policy of regional industrial development was adopted with full approval at the enlarged meeting.
An order of the Chairman of the Central Military Commission of the Workers' Party of Korea "On mobilizing units of the People's Army for the struggle to implement the resolution of the 19th Enlarged Meeting of the Political Bureau of the 8th Central Committee of the WPK on bringing about a regional industrial revolution" was conveyed to the audience by Pak Jong Chon, secretary of the Party Central Committee.
The General Secretary signed the order and personally handed it to the chief of the General Staff of the Korean People's Army.
The enlarged meeting, as its next agenda items, discussed and decided on the important measures of the Party for successfully completing the major policy-oriented projects for the promotion of the people's well-being, and took technical steps to ensure the sustainable independent and smooth development of provinces, cities and counties.

The conclusion of the General Secretary deeply impressed the participants in the meeting as it clearly taught them how sincerely the WPK, which has glorified its longest history as the ruling party amid the absolute support and trust of the popular masses, should work for the great people and what sincerity and ability for devoted implementation they should display for the destiny and future of the people.
All the participants expressed full support and approval with stormy cheers and applause to the important conclusion of the respected General Secretary, which unveiled the most scientific operation plan and clear methodology for successfully carrying out with due care the gigantic tasks of epochal changes to bring about dynamic development in all regions and turn them into the ideal ones for the people as required by the status and position of a powerful country.
When we make 2024 a year of great changes once again and make uninterrupted successes in the next decade, true to the main spirit of the enlarged meeting of the Political Bureau to raise the standard of living of the people across the country to a substantially higher level and further accelerate the overall development of socialism through the powerful promotion of the regional industry revolution, we will clearly demonstrate before history and the world what self-reliance, the great tradition of the Korean revolution, is and what our style socialism centered on the popular masses is.
The enlarged meeting of the Political Bureau of the WPK Central Committee, held amid the great expectations and concern of all the Party members and other people and service personnel, will shine long in history as a great political event that further highlighted the revolutionary nature and popular character of the WPK, which regards the people-first principle as its supreme programme and the basic fighting principle, and paved a broad avenue to the historic regional development for fulfilling the century-old desire of the people. -0-
