On the 22nd of November delegates, officials , activists and members of the Korean Friendship Association (KFA ) gathered in the southern Spanish city of Granada for the International Meeting of the KFA .The theme of the meeting was appropriately “DPrK, Beacon Of Hope For The World And Mankind”
The choice of Granada for the international meeting was because it was in Granada City that on the 13 November 2000 that comrade Alejandro Cao De Benos founded the Korean Friendship Association . Since that day we have never looked back .
The meeting drew the participation of representatives of KFA from Germany , Hungary and the UK as well as observers from the USA . Significantly this was the first time ever for a delegate from KFA Hungary (a new branch of KFA ) to participate . Spanish KFA officials and members from Andalusia , Valencia , Madrid and other regions of Spain also took part in person . Messages to the meeting were received from all corners of the globe.
The meeting was presided over by KFA President Alejandro Cao De Benos along with Dr Dermot Hudson , Chairman of KFA UK and Jaime Official Delegate of KFA Spain.
The meeting began with the playing of the hymn of KFA , “The Song of National Defence “ .
Comrade President Alejandro read out messages of greetings to the meeting received from the DPRK Embassy in Italy accredited to Spain and from the Korean Association for Cultural Exchange with Foreign Countries (formerly the Korean Committee For Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries ) .
Addressing the meeting comrade Alejandro said that the only real socialist country is the DPRK . He spoke about the 25th anniversary of the foundation of the KFA and why he took the step of founding the KFA . He said that KFA will now take measures to further consolidate its organisation and membership.
Speeches were made in person by participants from the UK , Germany , Hungary and Spain .
The speech of Dr Dermot Hudson KFA UK chairman concluded with the following words “Thus the DPRK , People’s Korea of Juche , is the true beacon of socialism , a shining light guiding progressive humanity .
I say let us, delegates and members of the Korean Friendship Association , unite more firmly to defend People’s Korea , the advanced beacon of humanity and true socialist country !”
Written contributions from the following countries were read out ; KFA Switzerland , KFA Argentina , KFA Austria , KFA Australia , KFA Chile , KFA Colombia ,KFA France, KFA Ghana , KFA Cambodia ,KFA Italy , KFA Mexico , KFA Poland , KFA Russia ,KFA Serbia, KFA Singapore , KFA Turkey and KFAUSA .
Written messages from the KFA UK Organisation Secretary Alan Bolon and from Staffordshire KFA UK branch were read out . Additionally there were messages from KFA member in Germany and a young supporter of the DPRK in Lebanon .
All the above shows the reach and strength of KFA !
The meeting appointed Paula from KFA Andalusia as the new KFA International Communications Secretary .
Various KFA officials and activists were awarded KFA 25th Anniversary badges .
A letter to respected Marshal KIM JONG UN was adopted .
The meeting took steps to improve and further consolidate KFA internal organisation . It was decided that the next international meeting will be in Valencia , Spain . It was also proposed that KFA should throw its weight behind holding the next International Festival in Praise of the Great Persons of Mt Paektu.
Afterwards attendees of the KFA International meeting enjoyed an excellent meal at a buffet restaurant in Granada. A tour of Granada was also organised for the participants of the meeting .
All in all it was a great event ! Let us embody the spirit of the KFA International meeting in the UK .
