Pyongyang, May 11 (KCNA) -- A spokesman for the Foreign Ministry of the DPRK on Thursday gave the following answer to a question put up by KCNA over the fact that some media of the U.S. are floating an impure rumor on the detention of Americans:
Some American conservative media are spreading ridiculous sophism that the DPRK has "kidnapped" Americans as "hostage" to use them as "bargaining chip for negotiations" and "human shield".
As was noted in the statement of a spokesman for the DPRK Ministry of State Security, the U.S. and other hostile forces are ceaselessly and frantically committing hideous crimes to "remove" the supreme leadership of the DPRK and overthrow its state.
The recently-detained Americans are under investigation of a relevant legislative organ for their criminal acts against the DPRK.
It is an exercise of the legitimate right of a sovereign state to deal with the criminals according to its law.
The conservative media of the U.S. describe the detained Americans as "hostage" for negotiations with the U.S. This only shows its ignorance of elementary common sense on the state sovereignty.
It will be soon brought to light what kind of crimes the detained had committed.
The DPRK will detect and frustrate every anti-DPRK plot of the dishonest hostile elements and mercilessly punish the criminals and thus reliably defend its state and social system. -0-
