Sweet-Potato Ice Cream Newly Produced in DPRK

Pyongyang, February 26 (KCNA) -- Sweet potato has been widely accepted by the foodstuff-processing factories in the DPRK.
    Among the foodstuffs made from sweet potato is a kind of ice cream.
    In this regard, So Ok Jin, a researcher of the Commerce Science Institute, told KCNA:
    Sweet potato has the effect of activating metabolism and lowering cholesterol in human body. And it is efficacious against hypertension, cardiovascular diseases and cancer.
    It is rich in starch and sugar and strong in viscosity.
    The institute has developed a new kind of ice cream preserving the properties of sweet potato.
    As the ice cream is mainly made from sweet potato, it can be easily prepared with less sugar and flavors. Its production method has been already put on a scientific basis and standardized.
    Kim Hyang, living in Phyongchon District, Pyongyang, said that the ice cream is tastier than others for its peculiar flavor.
    Researchers say that the ice cream will enjoy popularity among people. -0
