8th Conference of Ideological Officials of WPK Opens

                                            

Pyongyang, February 24 (KCNA) -- The 8th Conference of the Ideological Officials of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) opened in Pyongyang Monday.
    The conference will analyze and review the successes, experience and lessons drawn from the struggle to imbue the party and the revolutionary ranks with the monolithic idea. It will also discuss the tasks facing the party ideological officials in taking the lead in upholding the cause of modeling the whole society on Kimilsungism-Kimjongilism and ways to do so.
    Attending the conference were Kim Ki Nam, Choe Thae Bok and other senior officials, information officials in Pyongyang and provinces, officials in the fields of the preservation of revolutionary relics, the media and literature and arts, exemplary information officials of primary organizations, leading officials of party and armed forces organs, working people's organizations, ministries, national institutions and those in provinces, cities and counties and industrial complexes.
    Choe Thae Bok made an opening address.
    Kim Ki Nam, member of the Political Bureau and secretary of the WPK Central Committee, made a report.
    He said that the conference, the biggest-ever in the history of the WPK, offers an important occasion in lighting a torch on the ideological front of the party and focusing the greatest efforts on the ideological work.

Kim Jong Il made a historic conclusion "On Some Immediate Tasks of Party Ideological Work for Modeling the Whole Society on Kimilsungism" at the 3rd Conference of the Ideological Officials of the WPK on February 19, Juche 63 (1974). This was an event of particularly great significance in strengthening the party and carrying out the revolutionary cause of Juche.
    Kim Jong Il formulated the revolutionary idea of President Kim Il Sung as Kimilsungism and successfully accomplished the historic cause of proclaiming it as the supreme programme of the party to model the whole society on Kimilsungism. This helped the WPK underscore the revolutionary character as the party of Kim Il Sung which carried out party construction and activities as intended by Kim Il Sung only with Kimilsungism as the only guiding idea.
    The past four decades which the WPK has covered under the banner of imbuing the whole society with the monolithic idea represent a proud history in which the example of the times was set in the party ideological work and a precious treasure was provided in the ideological work to be held fast to by the WPK forever.
    A success made in it is that a radical turn was brought about in the contents of the ideological work.
    New principle, system and method were established and powerful information and agitation means and forces provided.
    The militant might of information and agitation was fully displayed in the socialist construction.
    The system and method of the party ideological work and strong forces and foundation provided by Kim Jong Il serve as valuable legacy for the development of the ideological work of the WPK.
    The undying exploits performed by him for the party ideological work have been steadfastly carried forward by supreme leader Kim Jong Un.
    He formulated the revolutionary idea of the WPK as Kimilsungism-Kimjongilism and set it as the supreme programme of the party to model the whole society on Kimilsungism-Kimjongilism. The general orientation and duties of the party ideological work have been clearly indicated through his extraordinary ideological and theoretical activities.
    Now the Korean revolution has entered such a new phase of its development as modeling the whole society on Kimilsungism-Kimjongilism under the leadership of the great party.
    The reality calls for dynamically carrying out the cause of modeling the whole society on Kimilsungism-Kimjongilism by bringing about a revolutionary turn in the ideological work of the party.
    We should deeply study and grasp the essence of the instructions Kim Jong Il gave and that of the policies he laid down while leading the party ideological work for a long time, regard them as the only criteria for conducting the ideological work and steadily carry them out.
    We should make all the service personnel and people cherish the unshakable faith that only victory and glory are in store for them as they are led by Kim Jong Un and the single-minded loyalty that they would invariably advance along the road of revolution, following only him.
    The reporter underlined the need to effectively conduct all forms of ideological education and thus fully prepare officials, party members and other people as genuine Kimilsungists-Kimjongilists.
    He underlined the need for the party organizations and ideological officials to dynamically conduct the front-line style information and agitation campaigns to arouse the masses to the drive for implementing the idea of the party and defending its policies, and thus make a breakthrough in building a thriving nation by dint of ideology.
    He also called for making the spirit of unprecedented creation and leap forward run high in all the fields for building socialism including agriculture, construction, science and technology by raising a strong wind of information and agitation work for carrying out the important tasks set forth by Kim Jong Un in his New Year Address.
    He stressed the need for the party ideological officials to consolidate the ideological position of the great Paektusan nation as an invulnerable fortress, cherishing faith that without a strong ideological position there is neither a powerful country nor beautiful dreams of people.
