First-day Sitting of 7th Session of 14th SPA of DPRK Held









Pyongyang, September 8 (KCNA) -- The first-day sitting of the 7th Session of the 14th Supreme People's Assembly (SPA) of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) took place at the Mansudae Assembly Hall on Sep. 7.


The session was convened at a dynamic time when the entire Party, the whole state and all the people are accelerating the struggle for glorifying this significant year as a turning point for developing revolution, united close around the great Party Central Committee.


Present at the session were the deputies to the SPA, and as observers officials of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK), the Standing Committee of the SPA, the Cabinet, armed forces organs, ministries and national institutions and labor innovators.


Taking the platform were Kim Tok Hun, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the WPK, vice-president of the State Affairs Commission of the DPRK and premier of the Cabinet, Pak Jong Chon, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau and secretary of the C.C., WPK, Ri Pyong Chol, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau and secretary of the C.C., WPK.


Also among those at the platform were Ri Il Hwan, Kim Jae Ryong, Jon Hyon Chol, Pak Thae Song, Ri Yong Gil, Jong Kyong Thaek, Pak Jong Gun, Kim Yong Chol, Pak Thae Dok, Kim Hyong Sik, Jo Chun Ryong, Han Kwang Sang, Ri Chol Man, Kim Song Nam, Ri Son Gwon, Yang Sung Ho, Ju Chol Gyu, Choe Son Hui, Ri Chang Dae, Pak Su Il and U Sang Chol, and members of the State Affairs Commission of the DPRK, vice-chairpersons, secretary general and members of the SPA Standing Committee and vice-chairperson of the SPA.


Choe Ryong Hae, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the WPK Central Committee, first vice-president of the State Affairs Commission of the DPRK and chairman of the SPA Standing Committee, presided over the meeting.


As the session was declared open, the national anthem of the DPRK was solemnly played.


The session decided its agenda items.


The first-day sitting discussed the first agenda item "On Adopting Law of the DPRK on Socialist Rural Development" and the second agenda item "On Adopting Law of the DPRK on Landscaping".


Deputy Kang Yun Sok made a report on the first and second agenda items.


The reporter said that the above-said laws are instituting the important matters arising in materializing the WPK's programme on bringing about a radical turn in the rural community and its policy on landscaping to achieve a rapid development of the Korean-style socialist rural community and spruce up the country into a beautiful and civilized socialist fairyland, before explaining articles of the draft relevant laws.


The Standing Committee of the SPA brought up for discussion the Law of the DPRK on Socialist Rural Development and the Law of the DPRK on Landscaping according to Article 95 of the socialist constitution.


Deputies Ju Chol Gyu, Pak Hun, Choe Sung Ryong, Won Kyong Mo, Ko Ju Gwang, Kim Jong Bom, Im Kyong Jae, Choe Hui Thae and Kim Jong Nam made speeches on the first and second agenda items.


Recognizing that the relevant draft laws were mapped out to guarantee by law the Party's plan and intention to put the country's agriculture onto a high stage by strongly accelerating rural progress, turn all the rural villages into socialist ideal villages and provide the people with better living environment and recreation conditions, they fully supported and approved them.


The session adopted with unanimous approval the ordinance of the SPA of the DPRK "On Adopting Law of the DPRK on Socialist Rural Development" and "On Adopting Law of the DPRK on Landscaping".


All the participants are sincerely present at the discuss of the agenda items with high political enthusiasm to discharge their honorable responsibility and duty as representatives of the people in the ongoing historic advance for opening up a new phase of socialist construction, full of sure confidence and optimism about our struggle and future.
