Foreign Ministry Spokesman on Support and Solidarity Expressed for DPRK at Recent Int'l Conferences

Pyongyang, September 28 (KCNA) -- A spokesman for the Foreign Ministry of the DPRK gave the following answer to a question raised by KCNA Wednesday as regards the fact that support and solidarity were expressed for the DPRK at the recent major international conferences:
The 17th NAM summit held on the Margarita Island in Venezuela on Sept. 17 and 18 on the theme of "peace, sovereignty and solidarity for development" adopted a final document and Margarita Declaration reflecting the shared stand of the member nations.
The final document denounced military exercises for aggression and use of arms and threats against sovereignty, territorial integrity and independence of member nations of the NAM as a wanton violation of principles of the UN Charter and an act of aggression.
The document expressed serious concern over resolutions on sanctions adopted by the UN Security Council against NAM member nations as they lacked appropriate legal ground and disregarded impartiality and justice, and rejected acts of negating or encroaching upon the right to develop and use space for peaceful purposes, the legitimate rights of sovereign states.
Also specified in the document were stand of opposing and rejecting special rapporteur system that highlights politicization, double-standards and selectivity in handling human rights issues.
At the G-77 ministerial meeting held on the sidelines of the 71st UN General Assembly, a declaration rejecting the unilateral sanctions against the DPRK and demanding the immediate lifting of them was made public.
The recent adoption of the final document at the NAM summit and the publication of the declaration at the G-77 ministerial meeting mean rebuff and opposition of the unprecedented moves for isolating and stifling the DPRK being pressed for by the U.S. and its followers by more than a hundred countries holding majority of the UN member nations.
This is also an expression of legitimate stand of the international community aspiring after independence and justice and a reflection of full support and solidarity with the cause of the Korean people under the prevailing international situation where international justice is wantonly violated due to high-handed and arbitrary practices of big powers.
The international support and solidarity greatly encourage the Korean people in their struggle to protect the dignity and sovereignty of the country and the international peace and security from the U.S. and its followers' increased nuclear threat and blackmail and harsh sanctions and blockade.
We will as ever boost solidarity and cooperation with the NAM member nations and developing countries in the efforts to build a new independent world and realize genuine international justice. -0
